Brookdale Lisle

"Mixed Experience with Staff Knowledge and Management at Assisted Living"
The 4-star rating is due to conflicting info from staff. Despite friendly care, immaculate environment, and great food, management's confusion with procedures caused frustration. Recommend with caution due to management's organizational issues.

"Mixed Experience with Agency Staffing at Brookdale Lisle Assisted Living"
My mom lives at Brookdale Lisle. My ratings are for Assisted Living. If the facility had more consistent staff, I'd rate Care Services, Staff, Activities, and Value higher. Some agency workers are excellent, caring, and competent. Others are not. Brookdale Lisle needs more weekend activities for Assisted Living residents.

"Limited Food Choices at Assisted Living Facility"
Some nice folks live here, but the food is awful. We're stuck with scrambled eggs every morning and just two dinner options.

"Good Pricing, but Lacks Convenience"
This place felt a lot like living in an apartment. The good thing is that the pricing is really good. They have medical care and physical therapy on site. But there are some drawbacks: the garage is detached, there are lots and lots of long hallways, and there's no laundry in the rooms.

"Perfect fit for mom, Brookdale Lisle shines with care and support."
My mom moved to Brookdale Lisle to be closer to home. The admissions director was so friendly and welcoming, which really made me feel good about choosing this place. They understood that my mom used to be really active before her stroke, so they promised to help her get involved in social activities. They also said they'd do their best to help her improve with physical therapy. It's been a great fit for her!

"Tour went well, but not right for dad in end."
I liked the tour of this place for my loved one. The staff were punctual and answered all our questions nicely. The building layout was good, and they had lots of cool stuff for everyone living there. Overall, it was okay, but it didn't fit what Dad needed.

"Extra Charges and Average Quality at Assisted Living Home"
I checked out a bunch of places like this one but only really liked two, including this one. Mom picked this place for its location, though I would’ve picked the other one. The food's sometimes okay and sometimes not. The place isn't always as clean as it could be. Also, they seem to charge for everything. For example, other places have gyms and most of them are more stocked. This was the only place I found that makes you pay every month to use it.

"Beautiful place, friendly staff, too pricey for our budget."
The tour at Brookdale was really nice. The people there were super nice. But, we didn't pick it because it cost more than we could afford.

"Friendly staff, but too large"
The Brookdale Lisle was wonderful. We toured the Assisted Living, but because it was so big with many hallways leading to the main area, I felt it would be hard for my loved ones to adjust. The place was very nice and the people were friendly, but it wasn't the right fit for them.

"Not My Ideal Fit!"
The folks here are friendly and lovely. The community is nice, and everyone seems content. I just prefer living at home rather than in assisted living.

"Comfortable Care: A Friendly Assisted Living Community"
My mom's been doing well since she moved here. She's in the nursing area now, and I feel good about the help she's getting. The assisted living part is nice too. The staff is kind and helpful, and my friends had good things to say about it. It's a really nice place.

"Great Place for Mom She’s Happy and Thriving!"
My mother has had a great experience at this facility. The services have been good, and she enjoys the activities available. Moving into Brookdale Lisle was a great decision for her; she’s made new friends and likes the meals. Plus, her apartment has a lovely view.

"Better than most"
I visited five different retirement communities before choosing Brookdale for my mom. It offers lots of activities throughout the day, several social outings each week, and daily van service to local stores. Her one-bedroom apartment provides more than enough space. The residents are friendly, and there's always someone to chat with in the common areas. The staff genuinely care for the residents. Overall, my mom is quite content. However, there are some downsides: housekeeping does a subpar job in her apartment, the food is just okay, and the building's heating/cooling system needs an update. The apartments tend to get very warm.

"Disappointing Dining Experience at Brookdale Assisted Living"
The food at Brookdale is really bad. When it was called Devonshire, the food was good, but now it's just awful. My parents have been there for over a year, and about 6 months ago, I stopped eating with them because the food wasn't enjoyable. Recently, I went for lunch with them. My dad ordered the cottage cheese/fruit plate, but he got served potato chips and a few slices of melon instead. The server didn't seem to think anything was wrong. My mom ordered the cod, but the only side dishes available were buttered corn and a broccoli raisin salad that was gross. Mashed potatoes had been taken off the menu, and with an hour left in lunch service, they were out of french fries. I had the BLT, but the toast was soggy and limp as if they had prepared it hours before serving. For the $8+ they charge for a visitor lunch, you would at least expect fresh toast. Management has been aware of the issues with the quality of food, menu choices, and untrained servers for a good 6 months, but I haven't seen any improvements. The only changes they made were adding hot dogs and sloppy joes to the dinner menu. The other services seem fine, the staff is friendly, and there are lots of activities and good resident care. Unfortunately, for seniors, meals are one of the highlights of their day, and there are only disappointments at Brookdale.

"Overall Positive Experience at Brookdale Lisle"
At Brookdale Lisle, our experience has been quite positive. Mom and Dad haven't been there for very long, but things are going well overall. The move-in coordinator wasn't very friendly, but other than that, everything is fine.

"Nice place, but food could improve."
It's a nice place. The food could be better, though. My loved one has plenty to do there, and we like it. My main concern is the food quality. The care is pretty good, and the facility is clean. Everyone is friendly and caring, and the staff has been helpful. Overall, we're pleased with Brookdale Lisle and would recommend it.

"Seemed Like a Nice Place, Felt Hotel-Like"
We visited this community while exploring senior living options for a family member. It appeared pleasant, with a friendly staff and attractive facilities. However, it felt more like a hotel than a cozy home, with long hallways. We believed our loved ones would prefer a homier environment.

"Brookdale Plaza: Friendly, welcoming staff, and great atmosphere."
Brookdale Plaza is a great place. Everyone I've met has been really friendly. The staff, including the medical team, are nice and helpful. The marketing sales staff is excellent and made us feel like family from the start. Even though it's not very diverse, we felt very welcomed. They even know her by name. Overall, I'm happy with Brookdale Plaza.

"Mom Feels at Home and Loved at This Assisted Living"
My mom really enjoys living here. She’s made new friends, likes the food, and feels like she’s at home. It’s pricier than some other places around, but you get a lot for what you pay. The staff is incredibly friendly. They know my mom’s name and everyone else’s in the whole building!

"Inconsistent Home Health Agency Mars Otherwise Good Experience"
The Devonshire has been pretty good overall. The food is tasty. But there's one thing bothering me: the home health agency they suggest. At first, I didn't realize I had other options. But now, I see a lot of problems with theirs. Every time I need care, it's a different person, and they don't seem to know what they're supposed to do. They often say they can't help without a doctor's referral, but no one told me I needed one. Dealing with their home health team has been frustrating.

"Nice place but lacks vital memory care services"
They offered many things and it was affordably priced, but they lacked the required memory care services. They mentioned that if my mom wandered out at night, they'd tell her to leave.

Disappointed Daughter
"Mom Unhappy and Misunderstood at The Devonshire Assisted Living"
My mom isn't a big fan of The Devonshire. There's quite a bit I'm not thrilled about. I've gotten a mix of reactions from different people on how friendly they are. It's reasonably affordable. It's tough to say about the care services because my mother is not comfortable with other people helping her. I do like that they offer very customizable services. My mom won't take part in any of the activities, but it seems they offer plenty. She might attend the church services but I can't say for sure. I was told that despite being upset over moving to assisted living, she would make new friends and eventually like it, but that didn't happen. Things have just gotten worse. I called and discussed with them about my mother's unhappiness there and her anger at me, but I feel they were pretty dismissive of my concerns. We're considering removing her and, if we do, she won't be moving to another assisted living facility. Overall, the experience has been less than stellar.

"CCRC Brookdale: Lovely Lunch and Active Community"
CCRC Brookdale is a nice place. The lunch was great, and they have an ice cream shop, pool, and shuffleboard. They also recognize Jewish holidays and have a handful of Jewish residents. The best view is overlooking the grass and gazebo. Laundry can be added in the kitchen, but a shower would need to be installed.
