"Staff mostly nice, management needs honesty improvement. Families communicate."
We were told this place is like a business. Most of the people who work here are very nice, but the managers don't always tell the truth. They need to do their job properly and keep the promises they make to families. Families end up talking to each other about their experiences here.

""Disappointed After Witnessing Fight at Aunt's Assisted Living Facility""
Yesterday evening, when I was leaving after visiting my aunt, a huge fight broke out outside. Staff members were in the mix, with lots of bystanders just standing around watching. It was really upsetting. We'll have to find a new home for my aunt because of this. I'm really disappointed with this place.

"Spacious Facility with Limited Outdoor Seating"
This assisted living facility is a nice place, but it’s quite large and a bit far from other locations. The parking isn’t very convenient, and there are two identical units, each housing 20 people. They offer three meal choices and have Hanta group physicians and a podiatrist available. When we’re there with Mom, we can use the full facility, which makes it feel like she’s gone out. The outdoor courtyard is lovely, but there’s only one living area outside of the rooms, and unfortunately, no other sitting space for families.

"Friendly Staff and Clean Environment Make Moving Easy"
When we first visited, everything looked really clean, and everyone we talked to was nice and made us feel welcome. [[Name removed]] was especially nice and helped us through the whole process. She knew a lot and made a difficult time for our family easier. We would definitely tell others about this place.

"Horrendous Memory Care Negligence: Don't Trust Clarendale’s Services"
Do not trust your beloved relatives to the memory care services at this residence. They claim to offer robust care for those with memory problems, but in reality, they fall significantly short. My granddad, an Alzheimer's patient, resided here for more than a year, yet he never received the services that we had paid for based on the evaluations demanded by Clarendale. The failure encompassed every aspect of my grandfather's care, including personal hygiene and dressing assistance, timely help for bathroom visits especially in common areas, and assistance with nightly routines like denture cleaning and pajama dressing. Despite our constant presence - we visited 4-7 times weekly - we often found him still in his dirty clothes from the previous day or unattended to after bathroom usage. The issues seem to be not isolated but systemic. Many visitors complained about a breach of their contract, yet their issues remain ignored. Clarendale staff seemed to have a high turnover rate causing disruption in care continuity, and temporary workers who fill in the gaps are unfamiliar with the residents and their specific needs. My aged grandfather spent much of his time unattended and unengaged. The negligence was so severe that we were forced to visit daily. At one point, we found him unassisted and soiled. When my mother reported this issue to the caregiver, who was a temp and with a seemingly disrespectful attitude, her complaints were disregarded, only leading to a potential lawsuit due to elder abuse. Our experience with Alzheimer's care is unfortunately not new. Prior to my grandfather, my grandmother had Alzheimer's as well, yet the level of care she received was significantly better than Clarendale's. My granddad has since been moved to a different facility that is infinitely better, with more experienced staff and a comforting welcoming atmosphere contrary to Clarendale's warmed-over approach. In conclusion, while maintaining an impressive marketing front, Clarendale fails to deliver the actual care they advertise, and sadly your loved ones will suffer as a result.

"Warning: Deceptive Assisted Living Facility - Get Loved Ones Out!"
This assisted living place isn't what it seems. If you want to see the real deal, visit after hours. You'd really see what a joke this place is! They're just trying to sell you a room to keep the place full. They're fakes who don't care about their residents, at least that's what I experienced. Don't be fooled, we got my mom out of there!

"Impressive Cleanliness and Cozy Atmosphere Worth a Visit"
I visited recently and was really impressed by how clean everything was. The dining room is spacious and looks really nice, and the apartment we saw seemed very comfortable and cozy. It’s a place where I’d feel good about having my parents live.

"A Pleasant Visit"
When we visited, this place looked really clean. The staff we met were friendly. They seem to have a lot of nice things to do. But, the building has multiple floors, and we thought that wouldn’t work for our loved one.

"Frustrating Lack of Consistency at Clarendale"
Clarendale talks a big game when you are considering moving in. However, they don't follow through once you've settled in. They appear to switch employees frequently. The staff doesn't seem to talk to each other much. We keep getting confusing phone calls from them. It's been pretty annoying to deal with. We were hoping for much better, but it's as if they cannot fully sort themselves out.

"Price Increases with Care Levels!"
This place had small rooms, but it was clean. The person giving the tour was kinda pushy, and they didn't answer my questions. Also, the care levels have different prices, which go up as the care level goes up.

"Unbearable, Poorly Cooked Meals: Immediate Exit Needed"
This place barely deserves a single star! The food they serve is consistently undercooked and the menu changes all the time. The upper nursing Department of Nursing (DON) and management show no effort to support their residents. My mom is living a hellish experience there! She can't even get a single fully cooked meal and is always complaining about the food and service, calling me up every night! At first, I thought she was just having trouble adjusting, but I paid a surprise visit after several months. It was appalling to see it for myself. We moved her out immediately!

"Warning! Unsafe and Unstable Assisted Living Facility!"
Badly managed! Please don't move your family into this facility! This place is constantly hiring because staff don't stay long. In particular, the the turnover rate for nursing staff has been terrible. There have been two to three full staffing changes since the site opened! The staff and management just don't seem to work together. When my mom moved in, it was clear that no one really knew what was happening. In terms of activities for the residents with memory problems, there's very little. The aides do everything, and it seems superficial. The nurses are competent when they're new, but they don't last. The number of residents each nurse is responsible for is too high. Often, there's only one nurse for two or three floors, or sometimes, no nurse at all! My mom didn't get her morning medication until noon because there was no nurse, and the director, who is a registered nurse, wouldn't administer it! Now, they use agency staff, which isn't stable. This place is unsafe for your family. You should look for care elsewhere to keep your loved ones safe. My mom moved out as fast as she could. We will never use this place again, beware!

"Lack of Care and Service at Assisted Living Facility"
Our Mom moved into this assisted living facility. Immediately, we faced issues. Her new apartment was messy and the sample furniture hadn't been removed. Things haven't improved much since then, especially regarding safety. There's no emergency plan at this place. During bad weather, she stayed with my sister because she was unsure of what to do in case of a tornado. The residents haven't been briefed on such matters either. The quality of food is quite unsatisfactory, with a switch to restaurant-style menus charging $14 for just two slices of ham with French fries. One time, Mom ordered stuffed peppers, and they served her undercooked meat. Moreover, she had to wait over an hour for it! There are also unresolved maintenance issues in her apartment like unattended broken lights. I wouldn't suggest putting your loved one in this facility.

"Clarendale: Not Suited For Advanced Memory Care"
We transitioned to home care, but my husband briefly stayed at Clarendale in the memory care unit. However, he required more support than they could offer. Visually, Clarendale is impressive, well-kept, and clean. My advice to anyone considering this place for a loved one is, to understand the amount of care your loved one needs. Because Clarendale might not be suited for people with advanced memory issues.

"Disastrous Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
After a long meeting discussing my 93-year-old mom's health, this facility agreed to accept her into their assisted living program. She moved in during Thanksgiving week. Her apartment didn't even have heat until 9:30 PM. Then, the next day, the Nursing Staff gave her too much medicine, and we had to rush her to Silver Cross Hospital. The Friday after Thanksgiving, around 7:30 PM, the director called and demanded that I take my mother out of the facility. He told his nurses to stop giving her medications. Instead, they just handed over a bag with pills and insulin. I moved my mom out on Sunday. Thankfully, she's doing much better at a different assisted living facility now. If you or your family member needs medical care, this facility isn't the right choice.
