"Great staff, but food and costs could be better"

My Mom didn't join any activities even though family and staff invited and encouraged her. She didn't like the food, and she's not picky. That was her biggest complaint. The bosses and CNAs were great to work with. The RNs were mostly agency nurses, so they weren't as involved as the other staff. The Director of Nursing, Facility Director, and Director of Marketing were all very helpful. Communication was good, but usually started by me or my siblings. Housekeeping was fine, but there wasn't a clear schedule. They were renovating public areas, so it was sometimes messy, but that was expected. I would recommend this place to anyone with long-term care insurance or a lot of money because they don't switch to public aid. If you run out of money, you have to move. That's why my Mom isn't there anymore. But for someone with good money, it's a wonderful place!

"Mixed feelings about assisted living, improving under new management."

There have been many new people working here. My family member's room has only been cleaned a few times in almost a year, and they haven't washed the sheets or towels like they're supposed to. We've had to do it ourselves. But there's new management now, so I'm hoping things will improve. They haven't raised the rent, which is good. All the staff are nice and helpful, though. Maybe it's just me worrying if we made the right choice. There have been some problems with maintenance, nursing, and activities, but they're getting better. There's a new maintenance person now.

"Heartless Staff at Assisted Living Facility Neglects Residents"

A few weeks ago, my dad fell and was left on the ground all night without any assistance. It wasn't until the following morning that he was found and promptly sent to the hospital. To sum it up; this facility's staff does not regularly check on their residents! They're incredibly unprofessional and lackadaisical. The lady up front at the counter is super rude; I heard she doesn't appreciate being "bothered" by people. Going back to the lack of professionalism, they rarely dress in standard uniform. I often see them in casual wear like sweatpants, nightclothes, and slippers. Whenever I visit my dad, they're either missing or absorbed in their phones! And the kitchen staff aren't any better, but that's a story for another day. Looking back, I deeply regret deciding to put my dad in this place.

"Great staff and food choices, some housekeeping inconsistencies, overall recommended."

I think the staff is really great super nice and helpful. When my mom moved in, it went well. She thinks the food is okay, and she likes that they offer different options at every meal. Cleaning the rooms hasn't always been regular, which is the main downside. I would definitely suggest Cedarhurst of Rockford to others.

"Warm and Friendly Assisted Living"

Nights were tough due to limited help. The DON worked tirelessly, but exhaustion showed. The facility’s remodel promised beauty. People—both staff and residents—were warm and friendly.

"Mixed Experience with Cedarhurst Assisted Living"

We like the dining options for our parents; they don't complain about the food. Finding help after hours is a bit tough, but they use their pendant button when needed. We expected better medication management but were surprised to learn additional assistance costs extra. Communication issues with upper management have led to lots of follow-up emails. We chose Cedarhurst for its price, accommodations, and food, plus the ability to increase care as needed. Despite challenges, we stand by our decision. However, my brother and I have had to stay very involved in communication with the Executive Director, Head of Nursing, and Transportation Manager.

"Caring Staff, But Services Don’t Match Promises"

The place isn’t quite living up to what they promised. It seems like they don’t have enough people working there. They’re nearby, and I think they mean well for everyone living there.

"Star Review: Assisted Living Fails to Provide Promised Services"

Assisted living facility doesn't deliver on promises. They don't include everything stated in the monthly rent. My relative's room wasn't cleaned since she moved in July. Just twice they've cleaned and vacuumed. I had to reach corporate to get the room cleaned, and it was full of giant spider webs! The staff isn't nice. They act friendly until you sign up. They hide the true costs and extra fees you're stuck with. The dining staff doesn't bother being kind or smile to the residents who pay them. They only have one cleaning lady who constantly uses her phone! They should employ more and better-mannered staff. Each visit, I barely see any staff except the cleaning lady, just loafing around. They shouldn't accept more residents without enough staff! It's no shock they only have 50 occupied rooms. The kitchen staff is supposed to make fresh, custom menu items, but they don't. I've eaten lunch and dinner there and seen the scorched, hockey puck-like burgers they claim are FRESHLY GRILLED! I absolutely don't suggest this place!

"Assisted Living Facility Needs More Staff, but Cares Well"

The place needs more helpers for residents. They have a menu for ordering food. If residents don't like it, the chef will make changes. There are extra fees for care on top of the rent. Some of the care includes medicine, help with bathing and getting dressed, and keeping clean.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"

The workers were nice and helped us. But it was hard to talk to the boss. The food tasted good. They talked to us well about the nurses, therapists, and helpers. I wanted them to be more flexible. The bosses changed too much.

"Not Suitable for Dementia Care"

This place claims to be for memory care, but it's not. The building isn't secure, so if someone with dementia gets worse or becomes aggressive, they can't handle it. Don't put your family member with dementia here; it's a waste of time and money.

"Disappointed with Assisted Living Facility's Neglect and Poor Care"

We were so hopeful about this assisted living facility for my mother-in-law. Their advertisements were impressive but turned out to be false. My mother-in-law hasn't even been there a whole month and we've faced countless issues. The night-shift care assistants don't pay her any attention. They'll briefly visit her room, promise to return shortly, and then vanish. Recently, she suffered from severe diarrhea for several days. When she sought help, the care assistant simply opened a window, sprayed some air freshener, and abandoned her in her dirty bed for several hours! Just a few days later, we received a call from the nurse about my mother-in-law's "uncooperative behavior" leading to a refusal to get out of bed. They had to call 911. Now, she's in the hospital with a high fever of 103.9, severe dehydration, and a diagnosis of C. diff. We're pretty much at the end of our rope and likely to start exploring other alternatives.

"Nice staff and activities, but there's a waiting list"

This place looked a bit dark inside, but it was clean. The staff seemed nice and they had some fun activities. There was a waiting list, so it didn’t work for us.

"Assessment Gone Awry at Crimson Pointe"

We were hopeful about Crimson Pointe, but our optimism quickly faded. After moving Mom in, they abruptly asked us to take her back home. No chance for acclimation. Refund pending. Beware of their staff incompetence.
