"Deeply Disappointed with Magnolia Senior Living"
I'm really upset with Magnolia Senior Living where my family member is staying. Overall, it was a poor decision to move them there, and I am definitely planning to move them somewhere else shortly. They're just not good at providing this kind of service and seem to fail in every way possible. I wouldn't tell my friends or family to consider this place.

"Turnaround in Care Boosts Satisfaction at Assisted Living Facility"
Before started, we were unhappy with my brother's care. Staff turnover was high. With her and in charge, care has improved a lot! We're grateful to the entire staff for their efforts!

"Conveniently Located Assisted Living with Cozy Memory Care Unit"
This place was okay. The best thing was how it's right in town and they have a small unit just for people with memory issues.

"Substandard Care and High Staff Turnover at Assisted Living Facility"
I wouldn't recommend placing a cherished family member here. From what I've observed, the care provided is subpar. The management may be new, but it seems like they've done nothing except change employees constantly. The residents here are wonderful people and they truly deserve a higher standard of care.

"Review: Bad Experience with Unpleasant Smells and Constant Staff Changes"
I definitely would not suggest this place. My mom recently stayed here and the whole experience wasn't good. The staff, especially the people in charge, keep changing. The area for memory care patients smelled really like pee.

"Mixed Feelings: Nice Community, Constrained Feel"
The community seemed nice, but location and parking were inconvenient. The director was accommodating, but the space felt cramped.

"Eve Assisted Living: A Gem in Hinsdale with Great Activities"
I love my home at Eve Assisted Living! I’m Marian, and I’ve lived here for over three years. Eve is a true gem in Hinsdale! We’re perfectly located next to the library, train station, and downtown Hinsdale. I enjoy the lovely side patio for meals and Happy Hour. Eve gives me privacy while being close to everything Hinsdale offers. One special thing about Eve is our Activity Director. She’s very involved and offers great programs that we all enjoy! She loves her job, and that makes the activities even more fun. Eve offers assisted living, memory care, and respite stays. I recommend this facility to my family and friends. They take great care of us and always make us feel at home. I love it here!

"Caring Staff and Fun Activities at Eve Assisted Living"
My name is [name removed] and I've lived at Eve Assisted Living and Memory Care in Hinsdale since 2014. I love being part of Eve's community! The administration does a great job, and the staff really care about us. There's always something fun to do, and the activity director makes sure we stay engaged and interested all day. She connects with us personally and cares about our mental, emotional, and physical health. Overall, I give Eve Assisted Living a 5-star review.

"Amazing staff and great activities make Eve a hidden gem."
My name is [name], and I’ve lived at Eve Assisted Living for over three years. What I enjoy most about our community is the staff. [Name], the Activities Director, [name], and the entire kitchen and concierge staff really go above and beyond to make me feel special. I love our happy hour with [name] on the piano and the Moonshiners Ukulele Players! I live on the second floor overlooking our beautiful courtyard, and the gardens are beautifully kept throughout the year. The staff really listen to our feedback, and we’re enjoying new cooking lessons and cake decorating classes! I would recommend our wonderful community to potential residents because Eve is truly a hidden gem in downtown Hinsdale. The staff really make all the difference for me.

"Good location but small rooms and limited staff"
The rooms are too small. The location in Hinsdale is good. They have 1 RN and use LPNs and certified nurses. It’s not an old schoolhouse it was just built to match the town.

"Warning - A Roundly Disappointing ‘Aging-In-Place’ Facility"
Our mom was a resident at this facility for more than 4 years during its building phase. While the facility itself, inside and out, is visually appealing and situated in a handy location, it falls short on its promised services. Despite claiming to provide aging-in-place support, it's nowhere near that standard. The nurses and certified nursing assistants (CNAs) lack appropriate training and critical skills, and the facility often struggles to retain staff, including its nursing director. The people they hire as caregivers are deficient in basic human interaction, they're sloppy in their note-keeping and medicine distribution, and they also lack the tenderness, promptness, and patience necessary for the job. In the final three months of mom's life, she was injured by a CNA. Moreover, she developed bed sores and was undernourished. On an instance, it took their CNA more than half an hour to respond to a call buzzer. Cleanliness is another area of concern as the bathrooms do not seem to be properly cleaned or sterilized. Even the communication to family members is not satisfactory. They failed to alert us about a flu outbreak at the facility which my mom contracted and nearly threatened her life earlier this year. Also, when their paging system malfunctioned in the summer, I was kept in the dark until I asked the front desk after waiting for 45 minutes for a CNA to show up. Besides, the food quality is disappointing and the servers are slow. Owned by a profit-driven operator who does not prioritize the actual welfare of its residents, this place aims at cutting corners with care. I sincerely advise not to choose this facility for your loved ones.' .

"Lacking Compassion During Difficult Times"
My mother stayed in this assisted living facility for a period of four years. Unfortunately, there was a significant decrease in the level of care she received during her last two years there. Since I live out of town, I had to fly in to see her. It was quite alarming that during each visit, I noticed fewer staff members checking on her. Her room was eerily desolate, and it was evident that no one really cared. On my more recent visits, I found that I had to spend most of my time cleaning her space, which was not what I had anticipated. We eventually ran out of the funds to support her stay there last year, but we made an arrangement to pay what we could for the following year. Tragically, as it became clear that my mom was nearing the end of her life, the facility decided to move her into a smaller room. The day we had to transfer her was the last day I had a chance to see and talk to my mom. A week later, she passed away. Her previous room, which she had occupied for almost four years, remained unoccupied for another eight months. This brought up the question, why was it necessary to relocate a woman, who was clearly not long for this world? What I encountered was a level of heartlessness I had never experienced before. Neither my mother nor my family deserved to be subjected to such a lack of care and compassion.

"Residential Facility - Degrading, Unfit for Adults!"
I sort of liked this place at first. The upstairs apartment areas were decent. But when I visited the memory care department downstairs, I was definitely not impressed. It felt like all the people there were being treated like children. They were being fed, and the whole setup was pretty awful. It reminded me of a small basement crammed with people. It left me with a bad feeling. I instantly knew that it wouldn't be a good fit for my wife.

I’m really impressed. It’s still a top choice for me, especially considering the location and the overall feeling of apartment living rather than a nursing home.

"Facility's Standards Dropping: Staff, Appearance, Meal and Activity Issues."
A close relative of mine has lived in this assisted living place for more than a year now. The place does look tidy and well-kept, but I've noticed that they're starting to skip out on some details since we moved in. When we look around, we can see some worn-out carpets in the hallways and the little bumps and scratches on walls, doors, corner frames aren't getting any attention. If someone bumps into something, like with a wheelchair, you can be sure it's going to stay damaged. This happens not just in the shared spaces, but also in private rooms. Maintenance used to be pretty good at fixing stuff, especially in the personal rooms but lately, they stopped doing that. I picked this place so I could come and spend time with my family member, not busy myself with their repair chores. Plus, the common places are now serving as makeshift offices for the staff. A peaceful seating area we liked got turned into someone's workspace, which kind of ruins the place's vibe. Another problem here is the staffing, quite clearly because of some managerial issues. Over the year I've noticed that there's always a new nursing assistant or nurse taking care of the residents. In fact, even the management has been replaced three times. There's definitely something off with the management here. The current head of the facility is the least friendly of them all. Their meal service also lacks consistency. We've seen three chefs come and go until now. They started off with nice printed menus and variety. Now, if you don't like what's being served, your only other option is a grilled cheese sandwich. The elegant linen tablecloths and fresh flowers are also gone. They used to have fancy Sunday brunches for the families and theme-based buffets (I still remember how awesome their luau was last year). They either don't do that anymore or, if they do, it's a pretty basic version of it. Lastly, the activities here are a mess. Management claims they're "still working on it". But so far, the only activities coordinator who seemed to know what they were doing got fired. The next one was all over the place, always seemed to miss the mark. If the current coordinator isn't super enthusiastic about an activity day, chances are, it isn't happening. Earlier, they’d told us that if even one person wanted to do something, they’d arrange it. Unfortunately, that isn't the case now. They need a certain number of people interested, and approval from the management. So, the activities here turn out to be pretty blah. I also noticed that they don't utilize the local facilities, like the Hinsdale library, the hospital, or the summer concerts. It’s like they don’t want to be part of the town at all.

"My mom is happy"
This place has had some challenges, but my mom is really happy. She's made friends with the other women who live there, which is important. There have been changes in the management staff that worried me, but the Executive Director and Nurse are responsive to any issues. They keep me informed about what's happening with my mom. Everyone here watches out for her safety and keeps her involved in activities. Overall, I feel like they're doing a good job.

"Shameful Disregard for Elderly and Their Wallets"
This place only seems interested in emptying your elderly loved one's pocketbook. They show no understanding or compassion for the difficulties of growing old. The meals they serve are terrible! And the care providers aren't even well trained - they change frequently. I wouldn't advise anyone to choose this community. You'll need it - Good luck!

"Unsatisfied Residents and Uninterested Staff at Eve"
I had a chance to visit Eve and was quite let down. There's barely any communication between the workers and the residents. They offer hardly any activities for the folks living here and the few I did manage to speak with weren't satisfied with how they’re being taken care of.

"Dissatisfied with Eve Assisted Living, Would Not Advocate"
My mom stays at Eve Assisted Living in Hinsdale. She likes the residents there, and the meals taste good. However, there aren't enough healthy choices for people with health conditions. The nursing assistants do not meet the standard and the frequency of staff changes, even till the management level, is disappointing. It's like an endless cycle of newcomers! I plan to move my mom elsewhere and I'd strongly advise against anyone choosing this place!

"Attractive Setting, But Falls Short on Engagement and Care"
Visited this place. Nice spot in Hinsdale. Surprised by how empty it was. Never saw any residents hanging out together. There were not as many activities offered compared to other places we've seen. Didn't feel too pumped up entering the building, kinda like walking into a hotel. Wasn't shown the Memory unit, but knew it was pretty small. So, they should be fine when it comes to staff, but then again, my folks won't have much to do which is already the case with living alone at home. Folks were saying the staff doesn't stick around for long, which is kinda worrying. The person showing us around felt more like they were trying to make a sale than actually knowing what older folks need and what their families might worry about.

"Deceptive Looks and Broken Promises in Luxury Assisted Living!"
Looking at this place, you'd think it's the best assisted living ever! It's just like one of those fancy downtown living places. But, let me get this straight, what happened to me here is so bad, you’d think I was making it up. The original price for a room jumped up $800 per month after I already signed the contract and put down a deposit. Sold my parent's house and stuff, moved halfway across the country, and what do we get? Bed sheets not changed for a month, though we paid for that. First 11 days, the nurses fail to give two out of six essential medications. It's still going on - found two days' worth of Alzheimer's medication untouched! Then, today they give all the 3pm & bedtime meds at 5:30! Five tablets all at once! The nurse aides just ignore the care plan and morning/evening hygiene help. Dentures only cleaned 14 times in 49 days! It doesn't end there, trust me. Because of these major mess-ups, the Director, marketing director & even the maintenance guy got fired! But, four hours of talking with the owner did zilch for me. I thought I'd get something back for their lies messing up the contract and, worst of all, my family member's health. I'll give it till the end of this month to see changes with the new director or I’ll have to start looking again. Poor dear will get all confused again & I'm just drained emotionally. DON'T BE FOOLED BY GOOD LOOKS!

"Clean and attractive, but too clinical for mom."
We checked out this place when looking for mom's new home. She wasn't a fan. Yeah, it was clean and nicely built, but it didn't feel like home to her. It seemed more like a hospital. Since it's her new home, we respected her choice.

"Great place, happy parents, and a cozy, personal feel."
I'm really happy with this place. My parents are pleased, so I'm pleased too. The food is excellent, and they can always ask for less or choose something else if they don't like the daily option. My mom loves the beauty parlor and the hairdresser there. The nursing staff and CNAs are very good and quick to respond. I appreciate that it’s a smaller, more personal place that feels more like a boutique hotel than an assisted living facility.

"Quiet, Fancy Place with Large Rooms and Great Amenities"
This was a really fancy place, super quiet when we visited and we only spotted one person living there during our walk around. The rooms were big and we liked the bathroom, especially how the shower had no step into it. It had a pretty cool exercise area, a place for entertainment, and a spot for eating.

"Impressive yet Cold Eve Assisted Living Clinic Lacks Warmth"
We visited the assisted living facility, staffed by a welcoming security guard and receptionist who helped us sign in and provided refreshing ice water on the hot day. Our tour, however, started several minutes behind schedule and extended beyond an appropriate duration for my elderly, 91-year-old father, who was visiting to scope out the place for his dementia-stricken wife. The conditions at Eve Assisted Living were physically impressive, though the atmosphere was lacking in warmth and felt excessively medical. The only patients we came across during our visit were two solitary individuals: one engaged in television, the other seemingly asleep. The guide offered a brief greeting to the TV viewer from afar. We were informed that the remaining patients were in their rooms, possibly napping. Unlike my mother's residential facility in another state – where patients are regularly involved in communal activities regardless of the time of day – the Eve Assisted Living seemed void of social interaction. Despite being a nicely situated facility, it emitted a sense of sterility due to the lack of patient engagement. The visit was majorly punctuated by staff, with overly pushy tactics from the tour guide and marketing team, which was off-putting. It would serve Eve AL better if they employed a more understanding and low-pressure approach, given that this process is a difficult period for families. Adding touches like a bird aviary or fish aquarium could inject some warmth and life into both the memory care and assisted living areas of the facility.

"Great facilities, but transfer process could be improved."
The Eve facilities were really nice. However, I'm worried about how people move from rehab to the community. They just go by what the rehab said when they come here, which might not be right for everyone. We wished we could have stayed longer. The food was tasty, and everyone was friendly.
