"Just Okay Stay at HarborChase"
My family member stayed at HarborChase of Plainfield before. It was alright, but not super. They didn’t have enough people working there a lot of the time. The regular nurses were fine, but the ones from the agency they hired? They didn’t seem to care much and looked like they just wanted their money.

"Fearful Resident, Negligence and Charge for Undelivered Care Marks Experience"
My mom and I had an awful time there. I would not advise anyone to go there. They ignored her and demanded payment for help she didn't get. She was left out of all the "fun". She stayed stuck in her room the whole time out of fear of the other people living there, of being overlooked, and of possibly catching COVID.

"Great Response During Tough Times"
We moved in during the middle of Covid, which was a tough time to move. I’m sure it would be different if there was no Covid. But considering the situation, everyone responded really well and did what they should have. Our living situation is good, though I wish housekeeping was a bit better.

"Poor Care and Communication at Assisted Living Facility"
Avoid this place! I wouldn't suggest this home to others. I felt tricked. They had told us that they could move her to assisted living and later to memory care, and assured us that our family member would flourish. But that didn't happen. They didn't care for our family member like they promised they would. When we tried to talk with the employees, they seemed clueless about what was happening with our family member.

"HarborChase facilities failed to provide suitable memory care"
HarborChase of Plainfield wasn't right for my husband. He required special memory care, but due to Covid, they put him in regular assisted living. After only 2 days, they wanted him to move to HarborChase of Naperville. That place didn't work out for his needs either. He ended up at Silver Oaks because of some problems he was having. Even when we moved him again, needing more medical attention, HarborChase didn't refund any of our payment for the month, though he hadn't been there the full time.

"Care is great, but I want safe visits for my mom."
I’m really pleased with the care my mom gets. I know these are tough times and precautions are necessary, but now a worker brought in COVID. I want to visit my mom before something happens to her. Living longer but not seeing loved ones isn’t really living. I wish they could set up a safe way to visit, since it seems like the workers go home and live their lives.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living"
We heard a lot of promises about extra services during our tour, but most of them turned out to be untrue once we moved in. It’s been tough to get our calls answered. The rooms are big, though. Unfortunately, the medication program has had issues, so we’ve had to take over filling prescriptions. The food is decent, but sometimes what’s on the menu isn’t what’s actually served. Corporate decides the options, not the residents. And there aren’t many outdoor activities, maybe just once a month.

"Harborchase Plainfield - Expensive and Unsympathetic to Seniors"
My husband was supposed to move into Harborchase Plainfield, but he sadly passed away before he could. We hadn't even put his stuff or furniture in the room. Despite this, I paid over $8000 and only got back $2. I think this is a poor way to treat older people. They should show more empathy. I understand them keeping the community fee, but nothing more.

"Mixed Experience: Caring Staff, Odor Concern, Lovely Decor, Distant Location"
The staff were caring and engaged with residents, which I appreciated. However, I noticed a urine odor in one area. I enjoyed my time with the coordinator, but ultimately, I decided against this facility due to its location being too far away and the higher monthly cost. The layout was nice, and I was impressed by the nostalgic decor like old photos and sitting areas scattered throughout the hallways.

"Total Lack of Respect and Professionalism: Left Without Assistance!"
SERIOUSLY UNCOOL! Imagine this- you're looking at assisted living facilities for a loved one. The decision is a tough one, but you put in the effort to get an appointment for a visit as they suggested on their site. So there we were, my wife and I, five minutes before our 3pm slot on a Saturday, Feb 3. We were greeted and then led all the way to a remote corner of the huge building. There we waited until 3:20 without any updates or any further interaction. Then, an employee decides to show up, telling us we would have to wait since a walk-in had arrived before us. That boiled my blood! My wife had worked so hard to get that specifically scheduled appointment! To add insult to injury, they didn't bother telling us how much longer we would have to wait. This was the limit! We left without any assistance! I'm left wondering, if this is how they treat potential residents, what might be the plight of those living there without the option to leave?

"Huge facility"
I visited assisted living facilities with my Dad, and this place stood out. It's a new building, very nice, but quite large. They have a secure Alzheimer's unit, and staff members are everywhere. Unfortunately, it's too far for me, but I'd recommend it to other families.

"Great Staff, But Did Not Love Exercise Program"
I visited this assisted living community and wasn't too thrilled with the exercise program. The residents followed a TV program for workouts. I didn't think that would suit my mom. The place was large, I was looking for something cozier. They did have meal plans for the residents. It was a tidy place and had friendly staff. The tour guide did his job well in explaining everything they provided.

I like the staff, especially she. They're trying hard to help us. At first, there were problems with laundry and stuff. The start wasn't smooth. My family member doesn't like the food. There seem to be lots of activities, and they go out once a week. We thought there was shuttle service for appointments, but it's not reliable, especially for crossing county lines.

"A Wonderful Place with Caring Staff and Warm Atmosphere"
cMy connection with Harbor Chase of Plainfield started in November 2015 when a family friend moved into the Memory Care facility. Since then, I've been visiting 3 to 4 days a week, giving me a good view of what Harbor Chase is like from an outsider’s point of view. I’ve seen several senior facilities over the years, and none match Harbor Chase in creating a warm and inviting environment for residents. The community looks great everywhere, from the entrance to the rooms. Music plays when you enter and continues in the dining room during meals. The meals are plentiful and offer many healthy options. They always accommodate special dietary needs. What stands out most is the caring nature of the staff. From the directors and medical staff to the caregivers and cleaners, everyone shows real affection for the residents. Caring for people who can’t care for themselves can be tough, but the staff’s loving attitude is something you usually only see from family members. The staff also makes me feel welcome as a visitor. Each time I visit, everyone from check-in to check-out greets me warmly. Since I often visit during lunch, I’m always offered a drink or something to eat. In short, I’m reassured that my friend is in a wonderful place with staff who genuinely care and treat him like family. Harbor Chase lives up to its promise of respecting each person’s worth and being responsible in every way.

"Good follow-up care, poor injury prevention"
At HarborChase of Plainfield, they're great at dealing with problems once they happen, but not so good at stopping them before they start. I expected a lot more than what we're getting. Top issue is safety. The staff is really nice. They're giving him physical therapy and occupational therapy, which is good. My husband's brain is sharp, and I wish there were more fun things for him to do. We'll see how the next few months go and then I'll decide if he stays here.

"Nice place, but communication among staff needs improvement."
I think the staff doesn't communicate very well. The place is clean, but communication affects some of the care. Response time isn't great, but they're working on it. The food caters to an older generation, and the chef has different tastes. They offer plenty of entertainment. I appreciated the 24-hour nursing and respectful staff.

"Peace of Mind"
My mom has lived here for years. She doesn't need much help. I picked this place because of its location, peace of mind, and social atmosphere. I visit often, and the staff is friendly. People have different experiences based on their parents' needs. I've raised concerns, and they've handled them professionally. My only worry is that there aren't as many outings now that the community has grown. It's tough for staff to plan outings with varied patient needs. I don't have another facility to compare.

"Ensure Promised Deals at Park of Plainfield are in Writing"
We spent about 3 months hunting for an assisted living place, and finally thought The Park of Plainfield might be a good option for the right price. Now, we've learned the hard way to demand written proof for everything. We'd been promised two move-in deals and suddenly learned they weren't included on our final paperwork. Also, we'd been told our rent was fixed for a year, but a few months in, we're told that it's going up by $200! Always read everything and make sure it's written down! Plus, our monthly bill hasn't been right even once since our move! It's been exhausting to constantly check, make calls, and attempt talking to someone to fix issues and cancel late charges. A positive note is that the activities team is really friendly, making an effort to involve everyone. The food and waiting staff are so helpful and go the extra mile to assist residents. So, The Park is alright, but be careful not to run into problems and always make sure to get all promises in writing.

"Not Enough Residents for Mom"
It's a pretty place, but it's fairly new—I think it's only been around for a couple of years. Their memory care section was only half full at the time, so there wasn't much to engage my mom. It felt quite empty, but it was very clean and beautiful.

"Convenient Location, New Facility: Mom's Decision Matters"
This place is really close to where I live, just a walk away. It's brand new, and there are only about 20 people living here, which could be good or bad. My mom is the one who gets to decide, so I'm trying to show her all the options. I'm starting to feel like she should be closer to me. She's not too keen on the idea yet, so I have to be patient. It has to be her choice. Until the weather gets warmer, I don't think she'll even consider moving.
