"Friendly and Inviting Assisted Living with Comprehensive Amenities"
We helped our friend find an apartment at LBW. The ladies who showed us around and the transitions coordinator were really helpful and stayed in touch with our friend. The place is cozy, neat, and welcoming. We haven't tried the food, but we looked at the menu and it seemed really good. They have lots of activities to choose from, plus health professionals and salon services available. Also, every resident we met was nice and welcoming! People there talked about how much they liked living there. I would definitely recommend LBW.

"Lake Barrington Woods Review"
Overall, I'm happy with Lake Barrington Woods. Like all places like this, there's room to get better, and the staff knows that and is trying hard to make our community great. Right now, I'm helping start a Resident Council to improve how we talk with the people who run things here and outside too.

"Mixed Feelings About Lake Barrington Woods Assisted Living"
My mother-in-law didn't like Lake Barrington. The apartment was old and dark. She prefers her own washer and dryer. The elevators were slow. She felt it wasn't for her. People were nice, but she still didn't like it. She liked the separate living options. At Lake Barrington, living felt mixed, unlike

"Flexible visiting hours and great location"
We chose Lake Barrington Woods because it’s close to our family. I love that you can come and go anytime. I visit early in the morning and late at night, and other places had visiting hours, so it’s great they don’t have that here. There’s always someone at the front desk, too. They recently changed management, so there have been some changes. I would recommend Lake Barrington Woods to others.

"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living Facility"
My dad's been there for a bit over a year and we've seen three different managers come and go. The stuff they offer is pretty nice, but sadly, my dad just stays in his room and doesn't really hang out with others, so I'm not sure if it's worth the money for him. But for people who like to be social and do stuff, it seems nice. The food's changed since COVID and they're trying to save money, so there's less meat and more noodles. But it's still okay.

"Great Place, Happy Loved One, Super Convenient"
I think you should check out this place. My loved one is really happy here. The welcoming vibe and comfy atmosphere are awesome. Plus, it's only 5 minutes from our family, which is super convenient. I wouldn't change a thing about this community.

"A Helpful Assisted Living Community with Dual Licenses"
The staff, the marketing person, was super helpful. The community has both Assisted Living and Independent Living units. We liked that we could upgrade without moving. It’s a smaller place, so we got to know other residents easily. The food is okay. They even had a PT room and therapist on-site for my father-in-law’s therapy – very impressive!

"Mixed Feelings on Assisted Living"
Moving into an assisted living place is a huge change. The rooms are pretty spacious, which is great. But, it’s a really far walk to the elevators for many folks. There’s a tiny patio outside. My mom’s had some ups and downs with the people working there.

"Disrespectful Staff and Poor Service at Assisted Living Facility"
The food here is far from tasty; it's clear as day that much of it was previously frozen. The level of service is simply disappointing. Meals drag on for two hours due to a continual shortage of staff. Even the silverware is often dirty. As if that's not enough, there's a cloud of low spirits among the residents thanks to the staff's lack of respect for their time. Mom's list of needs - which was explicitly agreed upon when she first moved here - has been ignored. You'll need to seriously consider quitting your job just to oversee them properly. It's come down to me needing to remind them of basic tasks such as brushing her hair, changing her underwear, cutting her food, and allowing room service on days where she doesn't want to make the trip to the dining room. Incidentally, all of these tasks were part of the original agreement that was blatantly side-stepped. The caretakers in the hallways are not considerate either; they're constantly causing a racket when they gather to chat.

"Improvement over the last location, but far from perfection"
The place is just okay, a tiny step-up from the previous one. The meals aren't great, but slightly better than what we experienced in the old place. The servers often mess up our orders with their clothes stained. They do have pleasant staff but it doesn't match up to the standards of a top-notch facility.

"Average Assisted Living Place Far from Highways with Distracted Guide"
Decent Facility, but too Isolated and Lacked Attention-Grabbing Features" This assisted living location is pretty decent, but it's pretty much in the boonies, far from any major roads. Honestly, nothing about it really caught our attention. And the guide who was supposed to show us around was running late and couldn't seem to stay focused.

"LBW: Great place but watch for some issues. Still recommended."
We call Lake Barrington Woods, or LBW, with affection. LBW is a great place, though there are a few things to keep in mind. 1) The top managers change often. They recently got a new Executive Director, so hopefully, she will make a difference. 2) They do everything they can to make the residents happy, but sometimes that’s not always best for the residents. For example, if a resident asks for more pain pills, they might get them without considering if it’s the right choice for their health. This is a concern for me, so I have to keep a close watch on my relative’s health. On the positive side, the rooms are well-designed, the food is tasty, and there are plenty of activities. The staff is friendly and always ready to help. I like that each resident has an emergency pendant and that there’s a swimming pool and workout room. There are more activities than one person can attend, and they really encourage participation. They even have a VFW post and a Men’s club in the building. Overall, if you need something, just ask. They often go out of their way to help.

"Beautiful, safe, clean, bright, but not Mom's usual."
The place is beautiful, safe, and clean, with top-notch food. The walk to the apartment is quite long, though, and it's not my mom's usual community.

"Pricey Rent for 2BR/2BA Assisted Living Units with Amenities"
Renting a two-bedroom, two-bath unit isn't cheap. For both daily meals, weekly cleaning and linen service (but you'll need to handle your laundry), access to the facility's offerings like exercise classes, an art studio, and an indoor pool, plus utilities (excluding phone and internet), the price starts at $3650. The priciest option, which also includes a washer and dryer, is $4350. There are 26 different floor plans to choose from.
