"Disappointing Experience at Lincolnwood Place Assisted Living"
My dad passed away, and things changed at Lincolnwood Place. Before, everything was great. We had a caretaker named [name removed] who took good care of him. But after he passed, we wanted to do something nice for her and her team. The boss, [name removed], didn't like it and fired her. She even lied to me when she called to ask about it. Without [name removed] and with [name removed], I can't say I recommend Lincolnwood Place anymore.

"Nice People, But Needs Updating"
I toured Lincolnwood Place, and honestly, it seemed kind of depressing and needs some updates. The style was dark, with lots of dark wood and furniture. The people there were very nice, though.

"Mixed Experience Across Different Care Areas"
Services were good in the independent living section, but heavy care was disappointing. Staff often rude; residents felt neglected, left in front of the TV.

"Reasonably priced but dimmer, urban location less appealing."
Lincolnwood Place was dimmer and older but reasonably priced. Comparable accommodations. The urban location was less appealing than Lake County.

"Clean Facility, Needs Better Care and Meal Timing"
We chose this place because it’s close to where I live and a family friend lives here too. The building is really tidy and the people who work here are nice. But, talking to each other seems hard for the workers, they take a long time to help when someone is sick, and they don’t have a good plan for emergencies. Also, the food is just okay and they serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner too close to each other.

"Convenient Community with Good Food and Room for Improvement"
My loved one enjoys the food here. We chose this place because it's close by and offers a variety of living options. They could do better with communicating during the move-in process. Besides that, everything went smoothly. My loved one enjoys being part of the community and feels comfortable. Overall, I would recommend it to other families.

"Great care and communication for residents with dementia at Lincolnwood"
Lincolnwood Place has been great. My mom has dementia with physical effects. She started in independent living but needed more help, so she moved to assisted living. Now, she gets the extra care she needs. Whenever there’s a problem, someone from Lincolnwood Place calls me to update me.

"Family Frustrated with Assisted Living Care"
My family member stayed at Skillet Nursing Home for a bit before they had to go to the hospital. There’s a lot of Covid there. Some of the workers, especially a few CNAs, were mean and didn’t treat patients or their families right. The head nurse didn’t act professional and seemed lost. The place saves money by using temp workers, but at least they were kinder than some. The nurses were actually really nice. The care would be better if they had more CNAs who cared and worked well with others. I’ve heard people needing help in the parking lot because no one answered their call lights fast enough. The workers don’t talk to each other or to the families well, and they don’t work as a team. The social worker is trying to run things alone and looks like she’s got too much on her plate. You shouldn’t talk about problems with the staff when your loved one is there, or they might treat them badly. If you’re fine with no teamwork and some rude CNAs, then this place might be for you.

"Overall, mixed experience."
The place had great ratings and a nice tour. But some staff don't care, and communication is lacking.

"Assisted Living Comparison: Larger Rooms, Lower Cost, Older Building"
The facility offers larger rooms and more affordable pricing compared to North Shore Place. However, it shares many amenities with North Shore Place. The building itself is older, with less attractive finishes. A downside is the distance—it takes a full 30 minutes each way, and the location isn't convenient for other errands. One notable positive is the staffed coffee shop, which residents appreciate.

"Assisted Living Balances Independence and Support"
Assisted living communities provide some help with daily tasks while preserving independence. They're ideal for older adults who can mostly live on their own but need support with things like meals and bathing. These communities offer social opportunities and a 24-hour nursing staff. If you're considering assisted living, look for the best facility near you ¹.

"Clean, friendly staff; some dated areas; great dining and therapy."
The staff is really nice and helpful. The place is very clean but a bit old in some parts. The dining room and physical therapy staff are excellent. It's a bit expensive but similar to others nearby.

I visited this place, and it's pretty nice. The people I met were friendly and helpful. The person showing me around gave me a lot of useful information, and they answered all my questions. The place looked really nice and clean. Unfortunately, it wasn't the right spot for us, but overall, the visit was pleasant.

"Good Care, Clean, Needs Better Activities"
This is a clean place, and the staff gives good care. It's a smaller community, and they try to help the residents. The best things are its size, lots of health care included, and cleanliness. The weaknesses are in socializing, connecting, and activity planning. They should know what they can offer for people with diet restrictions. Activities need more planning and variety. Once for a party, they did offer healthy options for those with diet restrictions. They have good medical attention, and it works for my loved one.

"Friendly and Clean Community for Loved Ones"
If there’s a problem, I like that the staff tries to fix it. My loved one is doing well in the community. He enjoys the meals, though sometimes he likes the food and other times he doesn’t, depending on the taste. There are activities he joins in. It’s a clean place with nice people.

It’s been really nice here. I’d rate it four out of five stars. We’ve had a few problems, but I think those are more about us than the community. The food, cleanliness, and staffing have all been good.

"Good Clean Place, Could Use Better Layout and Pool"
I find the place kind of tricky to navigate because every corridor looks the same. This often makes it tough to know where you're headed. Additionally, I think it'd be cool if they added a swimming pool. Despite this, it's a tidy establishment, and the people who work there are pretty nice. These are just a couple of areas where I think they could do better.

"Mother Happy in Independent Living, Extra Costs a Concern"
My mom lives there independently, so no care provided. I'm glad Mom's happy; folks seem lively there. Wish extra services were included in my payment. Less convenient now; used to be closer. Mom loves it there; her favorite spot. She enjoys activities and the lively folks. They're active, not all in wheelchairs.

"Poor Handling of Issues at Lincolnwood Place"
Lincolnwood Place Looks Great, but Our Experience Was Disappointing" Lincolnwood Place sure looks great. The building quality is top-notch and they offer lots of stuff for the people who live there. Sadly, our time with them was anything but good. Our family members moved into Lincolnwood but their health went downhill and they started to need help with stuff. Eventually, things got so bad that Lincolnwood said they weren't a good fit for them anymore. They wanted them to leave right away. What's worse, Lincolnwood wouldn't give us back the money for the next month which we'd already paid for. They said we'd needed to warn them 60 days in advance. But how could we when they were the ones who told our family they couldn't stay there anymore, without any heads up? In the end, they really dropped the ball in how they dealt with the whole situation. They were super unprofessional.

"Neglectful Upkeep Puts Dad’s Health at Risk"
I just found out my 96-year-old dad hasn't had any air conditioning for the past two weeks at his apartment in Lincolnwood Place Senior Retirement Community. They've tried to fix it, but no luck. This just isn't right and it's not fair to my dad. He's struggled with dehydration before, and they're putting him at risk by not being able to fix the problem!

"Nice Meals and Caring Staff, Yet Parking Is Difficult"
We haven't needed any care services. I don't know a lot about the community here yet. The meals are nice. We always have problems finding a place to park. We chose this place for how close it is to our family. I'd give the staff friendliness a four because some of them are really great.

"In the process of moving in"
Care services and activities ratings aren't available yet. Our parents haven't moved in, but they've signed the lease. Joan Schumm has been super friendly and helpful during the decision process, especially with the elders. She even gave extra time for our parents to feel comfortable. We also considered Chestnut Square, which is similar but requires a buy-in and lacks on-site care. All our questions and concerns have been addressed promptly and to our satisfaction so far. The apartment got a complete makeover—new carpet, flooring, and stainless appliances—since the previous tenant was bedridden for a long time. There are a few things left to resolve, like the missing doorknob on the new door and the stove hood not venting properly (wrong model?). The food has been great with a nice selection. We'll see if it gets boring over time. No gluten-free options, but there are sugar-free desserts. Our parents are worried about crowded dinners, and they wish they could 'bank' meals since Mom plans to cook frequently. Overall, we think this move will be good for our parents.

"Friendly Staff, Clean Place, Just Not Right Fit"
We visited this place when we were checking out options for our family member. The place looked great, and the staff were super nice. They gave us a good tour and were quick to answer any questions we had later. I don't have anything bad to say about it, but the vibe just didn't seem like the right match for our family member.

"Currently this facility stands out."
Right now, my dad likes this place the most. We went there on st. she was really nice. The lobby was comfy, and they had restaurant-style dining and room service. Lots of energy, and men and women mixed well. They offer all levels of care and have laundry in the units. Plus, outdoor and garage parking. The fitness room is okay, but it's in the less inviting back area. Oddly, the carpet runs into the bathroom. It's pricey, though. My dad won't go for a buy-in setup, and this place costs more than others. Overall, one of the better places we've seen.

"Mixed Review: Caring Staff but Facility Needs Improvement"
This assisted living facility has some good things and areas they need to improve. The staff is helpful and seems to genuinely care for the residents. However, the building could use some updates. More activities for the residents would also be a great addition.

"Spacious Apartments, Convenient Amenities, But Lacks Excitement and Activities"
My mom and I toured this place with the director. She preferred the floor plan here over at the Breakers. She found the apartments bigger, and having a washer and dryer in the unit was a nice bonus, plus, the free parking was a perk. However, she wasn't fond of the long hallways. She felt that the Breakers had more excitement and activities.

"Great Assisted Living Facility Experience"
This place is really good. It has everything I need. The apartments are big, and it feels like home. People are friendly. The dining service is awesome. Staff members are friendly and pay a lot of attention. Having a washer and dryer is really helpful. Also, it's nice that parking is included. The food is delicious. They have social events, but I think Breakers' events are better.
