"Poor Staff Attitude Taints Previously Well-Liked Facilities"
I toured this place a few years back with a professional group. Back then, the staff was super nice and the place was top-notch. They had all the conveniences anyone would want. But things have really changed. The nice staff who worked there before are long gone. I've been in twice recently for work stuff and to ask about their services. The receptionist practically kicked me out and kept saying that the bosses were either out or busy in meetings. They even handed me what I thought was the card for the big boss, but it wasn't. I sent an email asking for info and got a really rude reply. Because of how badly they treated me, I can't recommend this place to the families I look out for.

"Mixed Feelings About North Shore Place"
I visited North Shore Place in Northbrook, and the tour was positive. However, the facility is quite large and more expensive than others we considered. Overall, it's a nice place, but not ideal for my mom.

"Great tour, but not a good fit for us"
We had a great tour at North Shore Place, but it didn't match what we needed.

"Friendly Assisted Living with Pet Perks!"
I enjoy walking my dog around the community, and I love my unit. The pre-arranged outings and shopping trips are great too!

"Expensive but Worth It with Great Care and Activities"
The facility is expensive, but worth it if you can afford it. The room was beautiful and well-kept. Staff were always around, so my loved one was frequently seen, even if not by other residents. They kept me updated about any needs, like cat food or Boost. The kitchen smelled amazing, making me want to eat there. The location is convenient, with great views from the rooms and nice grounds outside. During Covid, they took strong measures to keep people safe, such as serving meals in rooms. They went the extra mile to ensure my loved one's comfort. They offer many activities, including country presentations, exercise groups, and even personal exercise instruction during Covid. There’s also a memory care group for an extra fee. Overall, I’m very satisfied and would recommend it if it's affordable for you.

"Friendly Community Tour, Not Ready for Move Yet"
We visited this place for my in-laws and their needs. The tour was nice, and everyone was friendly. The place looked good, and everything seemed well taken care of. Our tour was good, but sadly, my in-laws weren't ready to move yet.

"North Shore Fails to Meet Promised Care Standards"
We've found that what they tell you when you're buying isn't really the truth. The care they offer just isn't enough based on what the people living there need. It's gotten to the point where we've had to hire more help, which has increased our monthly expenses from $9,500 to over $16,000. My wife is really upset and worried all the time about whether her mom is getting taken care of properly. Who's supposed to make sure North Shore sticks to what they said they'd do?

"Great care and friendly atmosphere!"
I’m really happy with the care my loved one receives here. The staff ensures excellent quality of care and pays attention to their needs. The other residents are friendly and include them in activities throughout the week. Overall, no complaints—I’m excited about their future here!

"Improved Care Experience"
My dad's doing well here. His room and the common areas are cleaner than before. The staff mostly keep to themselves, but they're getting friendlier with my dad. The food's alright, and he finishes it all. There's music every day at 3 pm, which he enjoys. He's not very involved in activities due to his condition. He has a personal companion who visits him daily. I appreciate the follow-through from the woman on the memory floor.

"It’s Going Well Here"
I’m not worried about how clean this place is. It’s well-maintained, and there are no bad smells. My mom stays in memory care and enjoys live music five days a week. The food is great, and she likes it too. The staff is friendly, and I have no complaints about the care they provide. I’d recommend this community if you need their services.

"Caution: Subpar Management, Insufficient Staff at North Shore Place"
We transitioned our family member to North Shore Place Memory Care back in early 2015 and we've not been satisfied since, for a couple of key reasons: 1. There's simply not enough employees on hand 2. The residents wander around unwatched, because there are not enough workers to watch them 3. The caregivers who are working are too busy 4. Residents end up in other people's rooms by accident 5. The administration is not quick to address our concerns Physically, the facility is quite pleasant - however, the management leaves much to be desired. Please be cautious and research well.

"High Cost, Low Standard: Underwhelmed by Care Facility"
Our family pays a steep $10,000 a month to keep our loved ones in this care facility. Sure, the building has a fresh look, but the meals are dull and samey, and quality attention is in short supply. It's pretty common for residents to walk around aimlessly, popping into each other's rooms without any staff interference. Though the administration says they're meeting the minimum staff requirements outlined by the state, we were hoping for a higher standard of attention and care. We've reached a point where we need to hire caregivers for our family members, which adds over half of the original expense to the already pricey place. To put it simply, this place just isn't meeting its promised level of care or our hopes.

"Nice Place And Good Care For My Wife"
My wife's doing okay at this place. It's a pretty nice looking spot, everything's neat. The workers are super nice and they help out a lot. They have fun activities for everyone living there. The food is alright, but I wish they'd help her more at meal times. They're taking good care of my wife though.

"Unstable Staff and Sloppy Management Increase Expenses and Concerns"
Watch out! This place was good when we first arrived a year ago. But now, there's a lot of irregularity in the nurse team. They sure seem to be short on staff. The current "team leaders" have decided to switch up nurses all the time. You never have the same one. And, if you try to call and talk to a nurse, they're always "unreachable." The nurses aren't giving out important info about residents when they need to. I'm genuinely worried about these changes in how the nurses and other things are "handled." They don't clean our rooms as well as they should. Keep an eye on your monthly statement. Extra fees will appear without any sensible reason, making your bill go up. Excuses range from "perhaps that fee was for another resident; the billing person is out of the country for 3 weeks." I'd highly recommend checking out other places. Watch out!

"Friendly Staff, Slow Response"
They’ve worked hard to help my mom adjust. She’s warming up, and everyone is friendly. The only downside is the delayed response when she wears the Responder.

"Concerns Over Understaffing and Cleanliness - Contemplating Departure"
We shifted our mom or dad to the memory division on the upstairs level. Though the apartments were big and nicely equipped, in truth, the community is just way too low on staff. Residents' needs aren't addressed quickly enough. The cleanliness of the dementia floor leaves much to be desired. We're pretty worried about our mom or dad's health and are seriously thinking about leaving. If you're planning on moving to NSP, make sure to ask lots of questions. Be careful.

"Satisfactory Assisted Living with Room for Improvement"
They're doing well. The place is new, so there are some issues to fix and some organization to figure out. But overall, they're doing well. My family members enjoy it here. Everyone is nice, and we're pleased with it.
