"Mixed Feelings on Medication Process at River Glen Assisted Living"
We really like how well our Mom settled into her new home at River Glen. The nurses, staff, kitchen workers, and everyone else have been so kind and welcoming to her. Our main issue is with how they handle giving out medications. The way they do it seems confusing, a bit odd, and overly bureaucratic.

"Mixed experience with best facility, costly, advocate for oversight needed."
You must stay involved and advocate for your loved one. Ensure their rights are respected and they're not neglected. Initial impressions differ from daily reality. Despite drawbacks, it's the best facility, though costly and oversight needed.

"Assisted Living Facility Falls Short: Decline in Cleanliness and Service"
My mom used to stay there a year ago and it was really good. But now, it's not as good. The rooms are dirty and smell like pee. The people who are supposed to clean them say they will, but they don't do it. The person at the front desk is nice, but sometimes when you call, nobody answers so you can't talk to your mom. Another person is not helpful at all. He's hardly ever there, and the staff even make jokes about it. Overall, my family used to really like this place a year ago, but now it's not as good. Nobody really takes care of the patients, they're pretty much on their own, and you have to keep reminding the staff to check on your mom. We pay a lot of money for this, and it's not like it was a year ago.

"Great care and support made Dad’s move easy and stress-free"
We moved my dad here from Seattle, and River Glen made everything easier with their caring staff. They helped manage all of Dad's medical needs and gave us great support. Finding the right care for a parent is a tough and emotional time, but we wanted him to feel independent, supported, and cared for. The facility feels like home, the food is great, and the staff is top-notch. We researched a lot before choosing River Glen, and their month-to-month program was a huge help. It meant we didn’t have to sell Dad’s home of 40 years to afford it. Dad is settling into his nice apartment, and I’m thankful he's close by with the care he needs. Thanks, River Glen, for making this transition smooth for our family.

"Feels like family, great care, and beautiful surroundings"
I moved my mom to River Glen about seven months ago. After checking out many places, River Glen was the best. It's smaller, so it feels like family and is easy to get around. The apartments are big and bright with private bathrooms and nice kitchenettes. The dining room is open all day, so my mom can eat whenever she wants. The outside is beautiful with porches, a gazebo, and walking paths. Every staff member knows my mom and her dog by name and gives them big hugs. The nurses manage her medications perfectly. There are fun activities every day for everyone. The activities staff are super fun and energetic! My mom is much healthier and happier now. She has her own place with 24-hour nursing care, and we can visit often.

"Great Assisted Living Facility with Open Kitchen and Large Rooms"
We really enjoyed this assisted living center. They have a lot of cool features like covered porches, a walking club, and paths you can walk around in. The single rooms are large and have big windows. Their fridges are bigger than at other places, which is great. The thing I like the most is that their kitchen is never closed. They told us you can have up to six meals a day or even just stop by for some ice cream. The absolute best part is that they won't get rid of you if you can't pay anymore. That's really big deal. They even have doctors that visit so you don't have to take your loved ones to their appointments. We scheduled a visit for my mother-in-law next week to come see it and have lunch.

"River Glen Provided Excellent Respite Care for My Mom"
My 86-year-old mom had a fall and was struggling with pain and keeping up with her medicine while living alone. She stayed at River Glen for two weeks, and it was fantastic. I kept calling it her “vacation.” The studio apartment was clean and quiet, the food was great, and the staff and nurses were very caring. The place was peaceful and friendly. Mom was able to rest, get better, and return to her usual activities at home. I’m really thankful to everyone there, and I know Mom will miss the new friends she made.

"Great Place for Friends to Live and Recover Together"
My friend liked living here a lot before she got sick. She hopes she can come back after rehab. She enjoyed talking to other people who live here. We think the staff is really nice and helpful. The place is clean and taken care of. She liked the food too. I would suggest this place to others.

"Great Place for Independent Living, Not for Required Assistance"
My mom stayed at Delnor Glen for about a year and a half. Overall, the place is nice and the food is tasty. The majority of the staff are friendly, kind, and ready to help. However, we faced some issues with the caregivers. My mom was once prescribed a new medicine, and although I asked the nurse repeatedly about how she was reacting, I was always told everything was fine. Later, I found out through the pharmacy bill that the medicine was never ordered. In another instance, my mom was to be given medication before a procedure, but she was sent off to the hospital before the medication was given. The caregivers didn't let the hospital know and didn't tell us either. When the procedure faced issues, that's when we found out that she hadn't received the meds. Additionally, there was a time when mom was rushed to the hospital and her important documents like the DNR couldn't be found. We weren't even alerted that she was in the ICU until the following day when she was able to talk to one of the nurses and asked to have us called. These are just a few instances that I can recall. Also, the nurse and aides constantly spoke to my well-educated mom in a patronizing manner, which I believe she didn't appreciate. To conclude, Delnor Glen is a great place for anyone who can take care of themselves. But for those needing aid, I suggest looking elsewhere. We've since moved my mom to a place where she receives better care.

"Spacious rooms, extra fees, limited personal care, laundry charges."
The memory unit is like Belmont, but they charge extra for additional care in assisted living. You get 30 hours of personal care time each month included in the basic charge for assisted living. Laundry is extra in both assisted living and the memory unit, costing $9 per load. The rooms are roomy.
