"Disappointment Due to Broken Promises at South Lawn Shelter Care"
We really can't suggest South Lawn Shelter Care to anybody, they were beyond dishonest. Our relative was paying privately, and they assured us that specific arrangements would be made when they didn't accomplish anything they promised.

"Poor Condition Facility Unfit for Seniors, Staff Suggests Alternative "
After A Place for Mom suggested it, I chose this assisted living facility for my 87-year-old aunt since it was close to her place. The first thing we noticed was about six or seven people sitting outside in shabby chairs and smoking. It almost made us want to leave, but we decided to take a look inside. We got buzzed in and the sight inside nearly broke my aunt down to tears. The facility wasn't dirty, but it was beyond shabby. The furniture was old and worn out, the paint on the walls looked dull and tired, and the lighting was bad. The decorations were hardly cheerful or lively. Instead of small apartments, they only had bedrooms. It seemed like a lot of the residents were mentally challenged, around 35 to 50 years old. We saw a few older people too. They were done with lunch and from what we saw, just sitting around killing time. The two staff members were nice and were kind to my aunt when they saw her crying. One of them pulled me aside and said that this wasn't the right place for my aunt, recommending other assisted living communities nearby. It seems A Place for Mom either didn't inspect this place properly or the person who did must've had problems with their vision. This place is more of a shelter, nothing like a senior living community. If you genuinely care about your loved ones, please don't let them stay here. I'd say even my vet's clinic is more lively, engaging, and updated than this place was.

"A Heartbreaking Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
A Place for Mom directed me to bring my recently widowed, 87-year-old aunt to check out this assisted living facility, because it was nearby. The first thing we saw when we arrived were several people outside in shabby chairs, smoking, a sight that nearly drove us away. But we decided to go inside since we were already there. It was pretty sad inside; it wasn't dirty, but everything was old and it felt really depressing. The furniture was beat-up, the paint was dull and faded, the lighting was poor and there was nothing fun or interesting on the walls. It didn't have small apartments, just bedrooms. Also, most of the residents were younger, around 35-50 years old and seemed to have mental disabilities. We saw a few older people too. Everyone looked bored, just idling about after lunch. Only two staff members were present, but they were nice and comforted my aunt who was crying. One of them even told me that this was not the right place for my aunt and suggested other communities for her. I feel like A Place for Mom either didn't really check out this place or they need to get their eyes tested. Because what we saw was more of a shelter than a senior living community. If you love your family, you wouldn't want to put them here. Honestly, even my pet's vet has a better, more cheerful and modern atmosphere than this place.
