"Friendly and Welcoming Assisted Living with Room for Seasonal Activities"
I've been here for a few years. The staff is friendly, activities are okay; could use more for winter. Residents and staff are nice; it's a friendly, happy place.

"Mixed feelings about assisted living facility"
The people who take care of everyone here are really nice and caring – we’ve never had any issues with them. I think they don’t have enough staff, though. It would be great if they could hire more people so they could help faster when needed. When I look around at the other areas where people live by themselves or with a bit of help, everyone seems really happy. That’s not always the case in the memory care part because those folks have dementia, so they might not be as cheerful. But I’m glad they let our family member without dementia stay with their spouse who does have dementia – that doesn’t happen a lot. The place is pretty clean, especially in the shared places, but they could clean the rooms more often. The food isn’t the best. I wish there were more things for people in memory care to do, and the music they play could be better. Right now, it’s mostly loud 70’s music.

"Limited in-person tour, saw replica suite. COVID restrictions."
Our family visited the assisted living facility for a tour, but it was quite limited because of COVID rules. We only got to see a replica of the apartment our loved one would have moved into, but it was on a different floor.

Paid deposit for Sunrise occupancy. Mostly happy, but nurse incident caused problems. Limited options due to finances. Relocating is tough.

"Reliable Care in a Safe Community"
My mom's getting good care. They give her what she needs, and she feels safe here. It's good overall, but there was a little problem. They lost some of her things in the laundry, but they found them later.

"Great experience at a friendly assisted living facility!"
We visited this place, and it was pretty nice. It was almost as good as the one we picked. They had a smaller place for people who need help remembering things. The folks we talked to were really nice and ready to lend a hand. They had a lot of people wanting to move in when we checked it out.

"Great Memory Care with Convenient Location and Personal Touch"
I hear my mom is doing great and getting used to Memory Care. She’s safe, and the place is in a convenient spot. Visiting her is easy, and she has many visitors. We chose this community because it looked nice, and she has lots of her own furniture in her room.

"Great Place with a Mom-Sized Gap!"
I liked this place a lot! It was super clean, had great amenities, and the staff were punctual and helpful during our tour. Unfortunately, it didn't quite fit what we needed for Mom.

"Friendly Staff and Detailed Tour!"
I toured this place with my dad and the staff was super nice and punctual. They showed us around really well and answered all our questions. The residents seemed happy too, but it wasn't the right fit for my dad.

"Terrible Visit, Not A Suitable Place for Dad!"
I didn't have a good time visiting this place at all. The tour was terrible. When I arrived to check it out, they showed me where my dad would stay, and it was a place I would never want him to be. Every elderly person was in wheelchairs, just sitting in a dark room, among many other troubling things I saw.

"Perfect fit for Mom. Visitors agree. Settling in nicely."
It was the place we picked for Mom. We looked at other places, they were nice too, but this one felt just perfect for her. She's been there for a week now. People who came to see her said she made a good decision and is getting used to it.

"Friendly Staff and Great Care!"
The staff were super friendly and always paid attention to me. If residents need extra help, there's nursing care available. They have activities both on and off-site. It's a pet-friendly place, so residents can walk their pets inside. They also offer vegetarian meals and try to meet any special diet needs.

"Disappointing Food and Care at Sunrise of Palos Park"
Sunrise of Palos Park isn't really working for my mother in-law. She complains about the awful food and feels the staff don't care about her. They told us she'd be part of group activities but she's usually cooped up in her room. I can't see myself suggesting this place to others. However, I would suggest thoroughly researching on different senior living communities.

"Mother Adjusting Well Friendly Staff Makes Transition Easier"
I recently moved my mother into this assisted living facility, and she really likes it. It was hard to get her to leave her home, but I believe she'll get used to it. The staff appears to be very friendly and caring.

"Good place but needs more activities and less food waste"
It's been okay. Many of the residents don't socialize much. The activities seem a bit basic and not very engaging. It's very pricey, and extra services can add up quickly, since everything costs extra. The staff are really nice, but they seem to be more used to people who prefer less interaction. She likes the meals but feels there's too much food and too much waste. People highly recommended this place, saying it's clean and the staff are friendly, and that’s true. They do what they say well, but we need more activities and stimulation.

"Charming but Cramped Living Facility with Additional Costs"
This place is tidy, charming, and glowing. However, it feels a bit cramped because the studio and two-person apartments are quite tiny. Besides, there are extra expenses which increase the monthly fee depending on the amount of care needed. It's pretty pricey.

"Pretty Good Care, Monthly Updates, Expensive Medication Handling"
I think they're doing a pretty good job. She's more comfortable and participating more in activities and socializing. The staff is pretty good and on top of things. Surprised by monthly updates. It's more expensive, and they handle medication through their company, with an extra fee.

"Sunrise Palos Park Review"
My mom moved here from another place because she needed more help. She likes it much better here. The food is yummy, and the people who work here are really nice and always pay attention. The decorations are pretty, like something from a long time ago. It costs about $1000 more, but it's worth it for how well they take care of my mom and how happy she is. The only big problem is that the parking for visitors is really bad. There's lots of space in the front that could be used for parking, but there are only 8 spots, which is a big hassle.

"Outstanding care with friendly and supportive staff"
My mother-in-law loves it at Sunrise! My father-in-law is still not totally on board. The staff we've met have been amazing. They work hard every day and are always cheerful, helpful, and kind. I've never heard them speak harshly to any resident, which I always listen for to understand what happens when we’re not there.

"Inviting outdoor porch, cozy dining, but small rooms and shared spaces."
The porch with rocking chairs is nice to sit in. The dining area is big, and there's a TV room close by. But the rooms seemed cramped to me, and the shared spaces weren't much better. The bathroom was tiny, especially for two people. There's a nice patio, but you have to go outside and around the building to get to it.

"More activities needed; occasional shower issues; food satisfactory."
Overall, it's okay. They need more evening activities. They only have activities one evening a week. Sometimes they forget showers, which is a problem. But the food is fine, no complaints.

"Very Clean and Well Maintained Assisted Living Facility"
The assisted living facility was very clean and well maintained. The residents were a bit reserved and quiet, but Jenna did an excellent job explaining everything, including the costs. Prices were slightly higher compared to Emeritus. During the visit, we explored the 1-bedroom, 2-bedroom shared, and 2-room options. The facility also offered activities and church services.

Lovely place with kind staff at a fair price. I had to address some safety and skin care issues, but the staff listened and fixed them right away. The cost depends on the care needed.

"I liked the outside porch and mom did too"
I really enjoyed the outside porch, and my mom did too. She loves sitting out there during the summer. However, I wasn’t happy with the phone system. They didn’t provide the connection, so we had to set it up with the phone company. Other facilities we visited offered the phone for an extra fee of $40 or less and included the connection.

"Warm and Welcoming Assisted Living: A Great Choice"
We picked Sunrise for many reasons, hard to pick the biggest. One reason is the beautiful, homely atmosphere, not feeling like a hospital. Also, the food is delicious; my parents love the variety. Sunrise's location is super convenient for our family. The staff, from top to bottom, is extremely friendly. Every staff member greets everyone in the community. Even the director says hi to everyone. Residents are happy and greet everyone too. It's a bit pricey; we pay over $900 for medication administration. Besides that, it's a great community and we're happy. It's big enough for lots of residents and interaction.

"Feels Like a Hotel, Not a Hospital"
We chose “Sunrise of Palos Park” for mom mainly because it's close to my brother and me. The staff is very friendly, and the place is really clean. Even though it’s clean, it doesn’t feel like a hospital or nursing home; it feels more like a hotel. The care services are good, and there are lots of fun activities. Mom enjoys things like social gatherings and bingo, and the staff even reminds her about the activities she likes. The food is also good; instead of a cafeteria, they eat in a dining room where they can order from a menu, making it feel more like a restaurant. Mom also likes the on-site beautician and gets her hair done every Friday. My brother and I are happy with our choice of “Sunrise” for our mom. She’s very content there.
