"Consistently caring staff, limited activity variety, homely environment."

He sometimes needed extra help remembering daily routines and activity times because of his memory problems, so that part could have been more steady. I had to make sure everything was on track. However, the staff and other residents were great. The activities could have been more diverse. They didn't mix things up much throughout the week. But overall, he could participate well without needing memory care yet, especially since he's still very capable physically. It's a lovely, comfortable place to live.

"Assisted Living Review: Sunrise of Schaumburg, Pleasant but Slightly Shabby"

We visited Sunrise of Schaumburg and it looked nice, but seemed a bit worn and not right for my family member.

"Staffing and billing issues at assisted living facility"

One of the problems I have is getting things done. There is a lot of passing the buck here. I also think they don't have enough staff. My mom seems to wait a long time to get help to the bathroom. Sometimes, it's like 30 minutes. The biggest problem though is the billing system. They do not have a clear billing system. They use a point system. They told me she needed the next care level, but I have no clue what I am getting for $99 a day of care. I thought the state required a list of charges. I don't like this. At all.

"Assisted Living Facility Review: Patient Care, Clean Environment, Recommended"

They were really patient with my mom. She's not there anymore because she needs a nursing home. The apartment was fine, and they kept it clean. I'd suggest this place to other families.

"Assisted Living Tour: Informative and Pleasant at Sunrise of Schaumburg"

Sunrise of Schaumburg is in a quiet spot; I live nearby and never saw it before. During our tour, a maintenance worker showed us around, which felt a bit odd since usually, it's the director. He did answer all our questions and showed us everything, including the memory care unit, which some places skip. The place looked good and had good ratings.

"Comfortable settling for loved one, recommend to other families."

Initially, things were a bit uncertain, but now that our loved one is getting used to it, they seem pleased with the care they're getting. They're starting to join in at the dining hall, which is wonderful, and we hope they'll participate in activities too. From what we've seen so far, we would suggest this community to other families.

"Few Male Residents Not Ideal for Our Father"

Our family visited this assisted living place in person. It seemed like a nice community, but we noticed there weren't many men there. So, we decided it wouldn't be the best place for our dad.

"Assisted Living Fell Short for My Loved One"

This place felt more like assisted living, but my loved one needed more care. It was okay, but they couldn’t meet her needs.

"Mixed feelings on facility, recommends touring despite needing updates."

We visited this place and liked it overall. Inside could use updating, but still worth touring.

"Memory Floor Offers Secure, Friendly Care"

The memory floor works well. It's a secure area for residents, and most staff are friendly. They even have balloon playing activities.

"Mixed Feelings on Assisted Living: Needs Improvement"

Our family visited for a tour, and it looked a bit dirty right away. The place is older, and during our tour, we noticed an old dog and cat wandering around. I didn't really mind, but our loved one wasn't happy about it. One thing we did like was that the apartment had a small kitchenette for keeping leftovers and snacks. Plus, the layout was nice; the living room was on one side of the hallway, and the bedroom and bathroom were on the other, making it feel like a small apartment.

"Assisted Living Facility Review"

This place has nice staff and no mistreatment, but we've learned a lot. When we moved in, it cost less than other places, but now we're paying extra for everything. They charge for each pill our loved one takes and even for helping them get back to their room. It feels like they're overcharging us.

"Friendly Staff, Virtual Tour Needs Improvement"

We did a video tour of the place. It was cool, and the people were nice. They answered our questions and made the video tour as good as possible.

"Mixed Feelings on Care Costs, Solid Communication with Staff"

The community seemed to charge extra for every care service my loved one required, but overall, it's a good place for their care. The staff communicated well with me.

"Nice place, but not suitable for memory care on 2nd floor."

This place was pretty tidy when we went there, and the people working there were nice. However, we didn't think it would be good for our family member because the memory care part is on the second floor.

"Didn't quite fit, but nice with good staff and amenities."

I thought this place was pretty nice. They had lots of cool stuff for everyone who lives there. The people who work there were really nice too. They answered all my questions about the place. But compared to some other places I checked out, it just wasn't as nice. In the end, it wasn't the best fit for her.

"Cozy and Welcoming Assisted Living: A Resident's Perspective"

I really liked this assisted living place. It's super nice and pretty. When you walk in, everything looks great, especially the inside where you can sit on comfy couches and chairs. The dining area is also nice. People who live there seem happy and get along well with the staff. The place is kept up really well. But the rooms for residents are a bit small.

"Sunrise Assisted Living: A Good Choice for Senior Care"

Our time at Sunrise was short, but they did well. They helped us quickly and took great care of my loved one. It's a nice place, and I'd suggest giving it a look if you need senior care nearby!

"No Transportation Service for Doctor Visits"

They don't offer rides to medical appointments.

"Everyone was very nice and professional."

Short stay, settling well. Liked nurses, no billing issues. Professional.

The Care Managers are great and really work hard to meet each resident's needs.

"New resident review"

Mom's first week at Sunrise. Helpful staff, promising activities.

"Be Aware of Medical Issues and Staff Disconnect at Facility"

Please be aware that if you use hospice service along with the nursing staff, you need to pay attention to avoid missing or doubling up on medicines. This facility has had a number of flu outbreaks. Unfortunately, my relative passed away after getting an infection that wasn't treated for over two days. Some of the staff were great, but I felt a disconnect with several of the employees and the management.

Many activities available, though Mom unable to participate. Staff patient.

"Care-Needing Mom Removed After Negligence Led to Injury"

We had to move our mom from here. She wasn't getting the care she needed. Around 2 weeks ago, she fell and broke her hip. They then said she needed more care than they could provide. It was not a good experience.

"Great people and good food!"

We had a wonderful tour with Colleen. Star was great when she visited my mom at the rehab center where she was recovering from a fall. My mom wasn't happy to move there, but with her wonderful caregiver, Irene, she is getting used to it. She enjoys saying the rosary with the group every morning and likes her meal table mate. She loves Mike, the PT, when he comes, but doesn't like the morning chair exercises with the staff and group; she thinks they are too boring. She was always into crafts, and I wish she would try those activities, but we are still taking baby steps. One thing is that I have yet to receive an invitation to a special event. I go because I ask and encourage her to go too, but it would be nice to get an invitation so I don't miss any party.

"Least Convenient Sunrise Location, Favor Barrington and Buffalo Grove"

The most inconvenient Sunrise spot. Furthest from the home, Good Shepherd Hospital, and my dad's doctors. Assuming all Sunrise places offer the same care and facilities, I'd choose Barrington and Buffalo Grove over Schaumburg'.

"Assisted Living Place Has Tiny Apartments"

The apartments at this assisted living place are pretty tiny.

"Great Sales, Nice Place, Uncertain About Adequate Care"

The salesperson is great. This place feels cozy, like a bigger version of where my uncle lives now. Not completely certain if all his needs would be met though. I loved the terrace on the 3rd floor. The rooms are really nice.
