"Unhygienic Assisted Living Facility Disappoints Visitors"
My family visited this assisted living facility and we immediately left. The place smelled terrible, it was filthy and it just wasn't a place we'd want our relative to live.

"Terrible Experience at Assisted Living; Unhelpful Staff and Poor Care"
My experience with this assisted living facility was awful. They had a serious issue with staff leaving constantly. There would be new employees who would start their shift in the morning, and by afternoon, they wouldn't return due to lack of training. This resulted in a significant shortage of workers, sometimes with only one person taking care of everything. The behavior of the staff was a hit or miss – some were extremely pleasant while others were outright awful. The administration was terrible and unreachable most of the time. Medical attention was virtually non-existent. My relative was left untouched and uncared for, leading to more hospital visits than stays in the facility. Our family doctor even recommended not sending her back to Sycamore Village. The food was a common point of criticism, looking as bad as it reportedly tasted. On the bright side, cleanliness and activities were well-managed. The aides who managed to stick around were exceptionally hardworking.

"Husband's Unpleasant Stay and Escape from Facility"
My husband was at this place for a week plus one day. It was his first time needing help like this, so he ran away. They took him to a hospital, and I couldn't get him out for over two weeks. We didn't have a good time with this place.

"Mixed Experience in Assisted Living Facility"
My mom has been at SV for 5 years. At first, I was surprised by the cost, but after comparing with other places, it's actually pretty reasonable. Overall, the service and staff are good. Sometimes there aren’t enough aides for the patients, but they handle it. The food isn’t fancy, but it’s nutritious for the residents. Aides turnover a lot, which is common in their field they move for better pay or facilities. So, that’s not unexpected. My advice for anyone choosing an assisted living facility: "Stay involved in your loved one’s care and well-being. Don’t just leave everything to the facility and staff!

"Overcrowded and Understaffed Assisted Living"
The place is packed with people but there’s hardly enough workers. A lot of folks living here need extra help. They aren’t getting fresh clothes as often as they should. The meals taste really bad. Workers keep leaving and new ones hardly ever come.

""Severe Staffing Issues Plaguing Assisted Living Facility""
If you're okay with a place that doesn't have enough staff to properly care for your family member, this would be the spot. I've never seen a place lose staff as quickly as this one. They don't label it a nursing home, but it operates like one, only without the necessary staff.

"Mixed Experience at Sycamore Village Assisted Living"
The staff at Sycamore Village treats residents like family. They work hard to make sure everyone feels loved and cared for. Most caregivers go above and beyond, but one, named [name removed], was rude and disrespectful, even making fun of residents. Hopefully, management addresses this issue.

"Assisted Living Concerns: Understaffed and Neglectful Care"
Just started here, not impressed. One helper for 15-16 folks isn't fair. They serve food, clean, and help everyone to bed. Been 5 1/2 hours, no check on my mom for a change, supposed to be every 2 hours. Lots more issues in my brief time here.

"Underwhelmed by Assisted Living Facility's Care"
Just arrived and not really wowed. Having just one helper for around 15-16 folks isn't fair. They're expected to distribute the food, tidy everything up, and put all the seniors to bed. I've got more to say based on my little time spent here.

"Comfortable Community with Caring Staff and Enjoyable Activities"
This place is really nice. The people who work here are super nice and they really care about us. The place is clean, but they need to work on keeping it that way. The food they serve is good for our health and there's lots of different options. They have a bunch of fun stuff to do here that my grandma loves. I think other families would like it here too.

"Mixed experience with Sycamore Village."
Sycamore Village serves tasty meals, and the staff are attentive. Communication could improve among staff members, and sometimes there's a shortage of personnel. The place is clean and well-maintained. Activities are available, but my loved one isn't interested.

"Friendly Staff!"
The meals at Sycamore Village taste great. The staff paid attention to my loved one’s care needs, but they didn’t always communicate with each other. Sometimes there weren’t enough staff members. I appreciated the cleanliness—the place was well-maintained. They offer activities, but my loved one wasn’t interested.

"Highly Recommended Assisted Living with Friendly Staff and Clean Facilities"
My husband gets great care here. Staff is friendly and helpful. Rooms and grounds are clean and well-maintained. They help him stay active. I trust he's in good hands when I'm not there. I'd suggest it to others who need good care.

"Good and bad at Sycamore Village"
Sycamore Village is mostly okay, but could use some improvements. It's a pretty good place and they take good care of people, but they could be doing better. The people who work here are really great, they're nice and every one of them knows how to help people with memory problems. However, I wish there were more workers for each resident in the area with the highest need for care. The different care areas could be arranged better too. There are four different parts, from least to most help needed, but one of my family members has to share a bathroom with a man who clearly needs more help than he does.

"Staffing and Food Could Be Improved"
My relative only stayed there for roughly a week, so my review might not be too detailed. They could've definitely used more staff members and in terms of food, if I had to compare it to other spots, it didn't quite hit the mark.

"Understaffed Facility Leading to Resident Neglect and Mishaps"
I'm not wowed by this place. It seemed nice at first glance - it's tidy and seems pleasant. However, my relative had several falls there. I don't believe they're paying close enough attention to the people staying there. I ended up choosing this place because an establishment closer to my home was full when I was searching, and I had visited this spot previously. I just don't feel there are enough employees. It was tough to find a staff member when you needed one and it didn't seem like anyone was diligently watching over the residents or ensuring their safety. Staff shortages lead to mishaps and neglect of residents. I wouldn't suggest this place for anyone's loved ones. Furthermore, some of the prescribed medication wasn't even used.

"Caring Staff Makes Dad Feel Welcome"
My dad needed a place to stay quickly, and the people who helped him get settled were really nice. They made sure he felt comfortable and helped him get used to his new surroundings. His room gets cleaned every day, and he gets a bath and grooming every day too. He enjoys playing bingo and going to dances with the other residents. He says the food is tasty, and they give him options to choose from.

"Decent staff, poor care and lost my father's medical equipment"
The people were super nice, yet they didn't give great care. I dropped off my dad there for about four days, with enough clothes for five. When I came back, he hadn't changed and all his stuff was still unpacked. They also misplaced his blood sugar checker. They'd basically discussed him showering, so they had to lead him down the corridor and make sure he didn't forget and it turns out, he hadn't even had one.

"We feel assured she’s well taken care of."
The laundry is our biggest issue. They struggle with handling it and returning it to the right people. The care she receives is good, and the staff is friendly. However, they need to improve managing missing items from residents’ rooms. It’s clear they understand Alzheimer’s and dementia, just by observing how they interact with other residents. Overall, we feel assured that she’s well taken care of.
