"Poor Tour and Uninterested Coordinator at Fox Lake Cottages"
Our visit to The Cottages of Fox Lake was awful. If I could, I'd rate it a big fat "0". The lady in charge didn’t even take us around. On top of that, she showed up 20 minutes late for our meeting, just to say that she didn't think this place was right for us. She didn’t seem to care about talking to us at all.

"Great Place for Elderly Care"
I think a friend should check out this place, especially the Cottages. Overall, we were happy with our time there. For my mom, who couldn't manage alone, assisted living wasn't ideal. The staff was friendly and really helpful. The person from A Place for Mom who helped us was fantastic. I've suggested A Place for Mom to my friends.

"Smells and Distance: Mixed Experience at The Cottages of Fox Lake"
We visited The Cottages of Fox Lake, but it felt too far from us. Plus, there was a hospital smell.

"Assisted Living Facility Tour: Pros and Cons"
We toured The Cottages of Fox Lake. They had cool activities. But rooms were really small, not very clean/new.

"Friendly Staff and Cozy Environment with Room for Improvement"
The staff is friendly, but care services need improvement. Activities abound, though my loved one doesn’t participate. I appreciate the small, clean, and personable environment. More fresh veggies and homemade foods would be great.

"Comfortable Senior Living with Responsive Staff and Engaging Activities"
The Cottages of Fox Lake is a bit pricey, but it's a nice place to live. Our loved one says the meals are good, and there are lots of activities for residents. They seem more active than before. We like that the staff listens to us and acts on our suggestions. Our loved one has their own apartment with a small kitchen, which is nice. Overall, we would tell other families to consider this community.

"Assisted Living Review: Excellent Staff, Personalized Care, Beautiful Grounds"
We have a small issue with cleaning my mom's room. Overall, everyone's great. Staff-to-resident ratio is good. It's a lovely place within our budget. Perfect for mom; she's thrilled with staff and food. Other residents also seem happy. Memory care activities are excellent, and the activities director is fantastic. Beautiful grounds. Single-floor setup with 16 residents per cottage ensures personalized care. Highly recommend The Cottages of Fox Lake.

"Dishonest Facility, Unstable Staff, and Poor Patient Care"
I'd let people know that what they're telling you isn't accurate. The 'low sodium' diet they promised was anything but low in sodium. There was always a new face around because the staff kept changing. It was impossible to remember everyone's names. They kept messing up the medications! The nurses hardly bothered to check on him and would just peek from the doorway. That's really, really disappointing.

"Pretty place with mostly friendly and capable staff."
I would be willing to move into this community. It looks very pretty in the spring. I wish my loved one could have enjoyed it longer. The staff were very friendly, and even though some were from an agency, most were very good at their jobs. As always, a few weren't as good as the others. This is a very pretty place, but we were there in the late winter and didn’t get to see it in the spring.

"Convenient and Well-Maintained Assisted Living for Alzheimer's Care"
We picked The Cottages of Fox Lake because they had a special section for Alzheimer's patients, which was exactly what we were looking for. The rooms here are about the same size as others we looked at. We haven't heard any complaints about the food; I would say it's better than average. The location is very convenient for us, and the grounds are kept in excellent condition. I would suggest it to others looking for similar care.

"Limited Staff and Overcrowded - a Disheartening Experience"
The workers at this facility obviously care, but it's not enough when there are only three of them to handle various tasks including cooking, cleaning, and looking after 26 residents. Many of these residents are confined to wheelchairs or have other special needs. The common room was so packed with walkers and wheelchairs, I felt it was a fire hazard and called the fire marshal. Moreover, the space simply isn't big enough for that many residents with mobility issues. Unfortunately, my mom was moved here against her will. She hates being here; in fact, she was so unhappy, she even tried to climb over a six-foot fence. Even though she voiced her unhappiness for a whole year, her daughter (who is also her legal guardian and works here) forcibly moved her somewhere else that's a seven-hour drive away. If you value good ethics, I would suggest choosing another place.

"Concerns About Layout and Winter Transfers at Assisted Living "
I was bummed to see the busy kitchen located right next to the living room, where folks were trying to watch TV. This layout didn't seem very smart to me. Also, there are three separate buildings where they hold activities. Moving people from one place to another in the winter doesn't sound like a simple task.

"Caring Staff, Medication Concerns, Clean Environment, Reliable Nursing, Overall Satisfaction"
The folks at Paradise Park were mostly great, caring people. But we had some trouble with getting Mom's meds on time. Make sure to check in a lot to be sure they're following the med schedule. When we moved Mom out, they forgot to give us all her meds. They called nearly three weeks later saying they found some of Mom's meds. The place was always clean and didn't smell bad. Mom's clothes were always washed, she was bathed, and her beddings were clean. The food was served hot and she liked it. But we had trouble reaching someone when calling the main number. Most of the time, it was just a recording, not a real person. But the nursing staff was usually easy to reach or they called back quickly. Overall, it's a good place for your loved one, but you still need to keep an eye on things and check in often.

"Disappointed with unprepared tour and won't choose for Mom"
We really didn't enjoy our visit to this assisted living facility. Our guide was a new salesman. He didn't seem well-prepared — he didn't even have a price list and couldn't answer many of our questions. Overall, his tour wasn't as cheerful or welcoming as the others we've been on. We've decided that this isn't the place for our mom.

"Not the best pick for my friend - mostly memory care"
It turns out most folks, like 75%, are here for help with their memory. This may not be the best place for my buddy.
