"Great Location and Caring Staff!"
We chose this community mainly because of its location. We also liked the facility. The accommodations have made us very happy. The rooms are spacious and well-equipped. The staff is attentive and caring, and the food is great. The activities are better than average. My only wish is that the memory care floor were on the first floor so my loved one could walk outside. I’m also a bit disappointed with the room cleaning, as my loved one’s furniture often gets dusty.

"Assisted Living Community: Clean, Responsive, Recommended by Families"
We chose this place for its location and cleanliness. They listen well to families' input and are very understanding of my loved one. I'd recommend it to other families.

"Uncomfortable Stay and Inadequate Service"
I stayed at the Sheridan at Tyler Creek for over nine months. In the last couple of months, I started to see a lot of problems. The apartment wasn’t cozy. It had old, worn-out furniture, and the twin bed was so uncomfortable. When I asked for a new bed, they told me people usually bring their own. The shower was never hot enough, just kind of warm. I complained about it, and one manager said they’d fix it. But nothing happened until I talked to another manager who said they keep the showers just warm on purpose so no one gets burned. It wasn’t until two days before I left that they finally made the shower warmer. Cleaning around here was hit or miss. The cleaning staff kept leaving, and soon there was only one person cleaning everything. She never dusted, so my place got really dusty, and my coffee table got all these marks on it.

"Nice Assisted Living Option!"
We picked The Sheridan at Tyler Creek because we needed a place quickly for a short stay, and they had availability. The apartment was nice, and they offered some nursing care. Our only issue was with the cleaning staff—they didn’t do a great job in the bathrooms. Overall, it’s a nice place, and I’d recommend it.

"Nice Tour, But Not Quite Right"
We had a great tour at The Sheridan at Tyler Creek. The staff were friendly, and the place was clean. We learned a lot, but unfortunately, their care levels didn’t meet our loved one’s needs. Overall, it’s a nice place, but not the right fit for us.

"Neglected Hygiene at Sheridan Facility"
This is a fact : I'm talking about the Sheridan at Tyler Creek in Elgin, Illinois. My stepmother got a shower on because our family asked for it. Then, she had another shower on, also at our request. If you do the math, that's an 8-9 day gap between showers. Here's what's true: - Her hair is super dirty. - Her nails? Yep, also filthy. - She's always scratching her head and, um, other areas. I think it's because she can't bathe herself due to incontinence.

"Avoid, poor conditions, unsafe for residents."
In 2018, food and activities were good. Now, awful food, exclusion from activities, cleanliness issues, high turnover.

"Review: New management has made the once-welcoming facility poorly run and uncaring."
This place used to be warm and welcoming with top-notch ratings, but sadly that's not the case anymore. I wouldn't even give it one star now. The new boss team, who came from a company buy-out, only cares about their bottom line, not the residents or staff. Our head executive is not easy to talk to and she doesn't follow through on her promises. Complaints are just ignored and everything is made to seem perfect for the higher-ups. The leader of memory care doesn't know what she's doing and often avoids doing her work, letting it fall on her assistants. The food service can't get any worse and the food is almost inedible. My loved one's room gets a clean-up barely every two weeks when it should be a weekly thing. It takes forever for them to fix things, even after multiple reminders. The value for the hefty monthly fee we pay, which has been increasing, is just not there. They're always understaffed, bringing in temporary workers. There's only one friendly and real person left, the marketing and sales director, but she left because of the new management. I wouldn't suggest this place for the well-being of your loved ones.

"Mixed Feelings about The Sheridan Assisted Living Facility"
We're glad Mom checked out The Sheridan, our first stop. The staff were nice. Impressed by his 9-year tenure. Enjoyed chatting with a resident who's been there for 3 years and seems happy. But we didn't like it much. It felt cold, too business-like, and the menu was limited. The room they showed us wasn't clean, faced a brick wall, and lacked coziness. Hoping to find a better fit for Mom and Dad.

"Happy to call home."
My parents were among the first to move to Sheridan. Mom felt safe, cared for, and loved the staff. Dad adjusted well in Memory Care, thanks to exceptional staff like [Name]. They create a sense of community and family, going above and beyond every day.

"Unsatisfied Visit to Assisted Living Facility"
Although the place was good and well-set, the person we were supposed to meet wasn't there when we got to the location. We waited a bit, but had to leave because something came up. We didn't get a call from the person until almost an hour later, and he claimed we didn't tell him I was coming. That's hard to believe because the other two places knew I was coming and who referred us to them. They even knew my uncle's name. At least the person at the front desk was nice. Honestly, I don't really want to come back.

"Poor Care and Unpleasant Conditions at Sheridan Assisted Living"
My grandma has been staying at Sheridan for a few months. She requires assistance but often doesn't receive any. There's always this nasty pee smell in her room, and even though the staff assure me it will be taken care of, it never goes away. I'm really worried about the people in charge there, especially one woman in particular. She doesn't seem to care much about my grandma.

"Critical View of Assisted Living Facility's Unfulfilled Promises"
My mom started to stay in the assisted living area of this place, but she walked right out onto a bustling four-lane road (McLean Ave) and nearly got hit by a car. Now, she's kept in the memory care section which is locked. She's not getting the physical or speech therapy that the staff had promised. It's clear the staff keep making promises they can't keep.

"Poor Staff Engagement at Memory Care Facility"
My visit to the memory care facility I had considered for my mom was disappointing. There were no activities happening and the residents were just idling, without any staff attending to them. I ultimately decided on a different place where the staff is more engaged with memory patients.

"Wonderful and Caring Place for Loved Ones"
This place is overall wonderful and caring for a loved one. EVERYONE is super friendly and caring. The cost feels a bit high, but I'm VERY PLEASED with the care my mom gets here, along with the cleanliness. There are many activities to join, and the CNAs are very helpful and encouraging, getting Mom to go out instead of staying in her room. ALL the CNAs are nice and caring. The nurses are great too, especially, who is VERY CARING and helpful.

"A Decent Tour"
This place seemed clean during our tour, but it felt a bit dark. They offer assisted living and memory care, though we were searching for independent living. Consider checking it out for your loved one.

"Clean and Friendly Assisted Living Facility"
The Sheridan at Tyler Creek was super nice and clean when we went to check it out. The people who worked there were really nice and they answered all our questions. We picked a different place because we wanted everything to be on the first floor, but at Sheridan, the memory care was on the third floor. Plus, they didn't accept Medicaid.

"Nice Rep, Spacious Rooms, Outdoor Supervision Needed"
The Memory Care was up high in the building, on the third floor. The person who showed us around was really nice during the tour. But if you wanted to go outside, you'd have to be watched. There wasn't a fenced-in outdoor space. The rooms were big and really nice. We almost chose to live here, but we found a better place.

"A Tour for Family"
We visited this place, and it felt a bit cramped. The staff was friendly, but it’s a smaller community. They have a cute little dog, which is nice. We suggest other families check it out for their loved one’s care.

"Positives there, but clear need for organization"
03/10/2017 This place is still shining with newness, setting it far above others. The rooms are a good size - not too big or too small. The staff and community are accepting and friendly, making it easy to blend in and make friends. The food has variety and tastes good, but the quality and timing can be inconsistent. This is an area that needs improvement. The transition process can be disorderly, with frequent mix-ups ranging from skipped medications to poor communication about regular daily activities. Often it feels like the right hand doesn't know what the left is doing. Being a proactive family member can really help the resident, as you can keep an eye on the actions of management and staff. After five weeks, we're starting to understand the system better. With amenities like a private bus service, room service, housekeeping, and laundry service, there are plenty of perks. I believe when they find a consistent staff and routine, things will run smoother for all residents.

"Not Impressed with the Layout!"
The Sheridan at Tyler Creek was a pretty nice place to visit, but it felt almost too modern. The dementia unit being on the third floor and the lack of outdoor space were downsides. Plus, it was a bit expensive.

"Great Care"
This community is nice, with friendly staff. They organize fun field trips, including shopping and zumba outings, and live entertainment. The staff is incredibly caring. While the food is good, there’s room for a little improvement in some areas. I highly recommend this community to other families for the great care.

"Warm Welcome and Clean Space!"
The Sheridan at Tyler Creek is a pretty new place. The workers there are really nice and pay attention to you. The place is always clean, and the people who fix things do a really good job. The food is okay, but it could be better. The cooks take a while, but they're improving. They have lots of things to do both at the place and outside of it.
