"Victory Centre Rejections Are Harsh and Unhelpful"
We tried to get our mom into Victory Centre recently. Everything seemed okay with the application steps and it seemed like mom was going to move in. But then, because of some Medicaid problems, they told us no just two days before she was set to move! The letter they sent us about cancelling was really mean and it feels like they didn't help us at all. I thought I'd tell you about this because I really don't think I'd tell anyone else to try and go there.

"Poor Receptionist Behavior Reflects on Assisted Living Facility"
The person at the front desk was really rude to me. When I visited with [name removed], they were great, but when I called to talk to [name removed], who I think is the new boss, they kept transferring me to the wrong people. When I called again, the receptionist shouted at me and hung up. They wouldn't pick up when I called back, except when I used a different number. If the receptionist is mean, I bet they're not nice to the people who live there. I wouldn't want my family member to stay here.

"Mixed feelings about assisted living; friendly staff, lacking care."
The place looks nice and people are nice too, but they don't have enough people to help out. Our family member needs more help than what they're getting. The food is yummy, and there are fun things to do, but our mom doesn't really do them. It costs less than some places, but it still seems expensive.

"Inconsistent Care at Assisted Living Facility"
My mom enjoys meeting people and is happy there. However, I've had problems with her care. For example, I had to keep calling to make sure they were providing the care she needs. I asked the staff to tell the nurse to test my mom for a UTI, but it took a whole week before they did it. I had to call the nurse and the doctor to finally get the test done. The doctor is not good at all.

"Friendly Assisted Living with Pet-Friendly Amenities"
I visited 7 places, and Victory Centre of Bartlett was our second choice. When I walked in, I felt really good. The people were friendly and helpful. They followed up with us, answered our questions, and even fixed things before we moved in. It's a great place for pet owners—they allow dogs and cats and have a fenced green area. This was the only place with that feature.

"Mixed Feelings on Victory Centre of Bartlett"
I had a mixed experience with Victory Centre of Bartlett. Overall, I liked it, especially because they had a lot of activities. They brought in a lady for art classes, and one resident even sold her art there. They also had a gardening team that worked outside with the residents. However, my scheduled tour didn't start smoothly. I had to wait about 15-20 minutes because the admissions person was on the phone when I arrived. I had called to let them know I was running about 10 minutes late due to helping my mom, but it seemed they were occupied. This delayed my tour and cut my meeting short after only about 10 minutes. Someone else had to show me around afterward, which left a negative impression on me about the place.

"Affordable move to Medicaid, friendly staff, cost too high initially."
Our family talked to the marketing team and they were really nice. But, the cost to move in was too much for us. We did like that eventually they help with Medicaid, so we're considering this place for the future.

"Avoid Victory Centre: Poor Care, Shady Billing Practices"
I'm not happy with Victory Centre in Bartlett, IL, and I'd tell you to look around before picking this place for your loved one. They have way more residents than staff members. My sister, who has dementia, ended up staying there for one year. During all that time, I had to email them so often because she would forget to eat, and then she'd call me hungry because she missed mealtime. With Covid, I wasn't allowed to visit inside, so I had no clue how she was doing. In our short visits outside, she'd always be in the same clothes. I don't even know if she was encouraged to change. Around two months ago, I was called into the ER. My sister was found out cold in her room, and nobody knew how long she was like that. The ER doctor said she had Sepsis, probably from choking on her own throw up in her room. She also had Pneumonia and UTIs that led to a heart failure. That night, they didn't think she'd make it. But she did. Still, she's in bad shape now—heart, mind, and overall health. I had to call up the big boss at Victory Centre to let them know I had to pull my sister out of there. The contract we signed said we could leave in situations like these. But guess what? The director starts arguing that my sister was fine and could totally stay. They said I had to pay for 30 days' notice before moving her out. After this stupid debate, I gave the notice. They billed my sister for 30 days. Later, I find out they took extra cash from her account beyond the 30 days. I brought this up with the director, who sends me off to the business manager. He didn't even reply for more than a month. Then he says my sister owes four extra days because of their billing cycle. Really, I don't go around leaving bad reviews, but this situation is terrible. I hope nobody else has to go through this.

"Neglect at Victory Centre in Bartlett; Removal Faced Resistance"
I emphatically advise against choosing Victory Centre in Bartlett, IL for your loved ones. I strongly encourage you to look elsewhere because the staff-to-resident ratio is too high there. For one year, my sister, who has dementia, was a resident at Victory Centre. My pleas to management about her forgetting meal times yielded no results. Despite sending numerous emails, she still missed meals because she would forget to go downstairs on her own. During the pandemic, I wasn't allowed to inspect her condition indoors, we could only have limited outdoor visits. She usually wore the same clothes every time I saw her, so I'm unsure if she was given any assistance or encouragement to change outfits. Two months ago, I was horrified to find my sister unconscious on her apartment floor when I was rushed to the ER. She had contracted Sepsis, likely from the unfortunate incident of inhaling her own vomit. On top of this, she had pneumonia and urinary tract infections, all these conditions leading to a heartbreaking bout with Congestive Heart Failure. Miraculously, she pulled through the night even after doctors expected the worst. However, her overall health suffered a dramatic decline, especially in brain function and heart health. Seeing her deteriorating health, I immediately decided to move my sister from Victory Centre to a place with better one-on-one care. This was part of the agreement I signed with the facility. Despite the evident emergency, the director argued that my sister was fit to stay in their centre. I was demanded a 30-day notice along with payment even after all that. Following that unwarranted debate, I gave the required notice. Despite this, my sister was charged extra, even though her stay had supposedly been prepaid. When I drew the director's attention to the issue, their response was inadequate, referring me to a business manager who only got back to me after over a month. This manager insisted that my sister was also liable for an additional four days of payment under a supposed billing cycle. This isn't something she can afford, obviously. I'm not usually one to write negative reviews, but this outrageous situation warrants it. I'm hoping others won't have to go through what my sister and I experienced.

"Mixed First Impression at Assisted Living Facility"
My first visit wasn't smooth. The receptionist didn't have my tour booked. Though I came through APFM, she seemed unaware. I had to wait because the person I was supposed to meet was in a meeting. Thankfully, she showed up eventually. During the tour, we encountered a resident with facial wounds in the dining room too early. The Sales Director helped, but it was uncomfortable. Despite cleanliness and spacious rooms, caregiver-to-staff ratio is high.

"Homey Atmosphere with Friendly Staff"
The place itself looked really nice. Everything felt cozy and homey. The residents and staff were all friendly. This facility is more for people with serious health needs who require a lot of nursing care. The only downside is that the residents seemed quite down and unable to do much for themselves. Still, I’d recommend this facility.

"Best Supportive Living Facility in Chicagoland!"
My mom recently moved into the Victory Centre of Bartlett, and I am very pleased and impressed. Everyone on the staff here is absolutely wonderful! The caregivers and medical staff are friendly and take great care and patience with my mom. The management team is exceptional and made a tough situation so easy for us. After two years of checking out other facilities in the Chicago area, I can confidently say that the Victory Centre is the best choice for supportive living.

"Troubling Experience with Memory-Impaired Services!"
Please think twice before admitting your memory-impaired family to this facility! The staff lacks training and seems to lack the time and effort required to properly tend to those who need special care. They might say yes to accepting memory-impaired residents, but they do not offer services specifically for them. Frustratingly, when concerns are raised to the director, the response is that we're complicating their work. My grandma is a resident here and she's often found roaming around the corridors, scared, bewildered, and lost. They really should not admit residents they can't care for. If I could afford a lawyer, I would not keep her here!

"Much Needed Improvements in Staff and Care!"
The apartment and features at this assisted living home were just what I had in mind. Sadly, they didn't have enough staff, and the care they did offer didn't meet my mom's daily needs. There were heaps of issues with the amount of care they gave to my mom. They didn't keep their promise of helping her get up and down from the bed, meet her movement needs, and help with her personal cleanliness. Finally, I chose to take my loved one out of this place. Big upgrades needed.

"Outstanding Care and Support from Staff at Victory Centre"
I want to give a big thanks to the staff and Director, for their caring and kindness to my mom when she moved into the Victory Centre. Since I live out of state, I really appreciated the quick email updates and the reassurance that my mom was well taken care of. This close communication was a big help for our family too. The staff went above and beyond to help when it was needed the most. We’re so grateful, and my mom is now in a wonderful, caring place with excellent leadership!

"A Perfect Place for Comfortable Living!"
My sister-in-law recently moved to Victory Centre of Bartlett. She had lived in Chicago for most of her life and was nervous about the change. But once she got settled, she loved all the benefits and wished she had moved sooner. Now, she has everything she needs and wants: a great apartment, tasty meals, a doctor on-site, bus service for trips and shopping, a hairdresser, an exercise room, and the Hanover Park Senior Center next door that she can walk to. The staff are friendly and always ready to help. Thank you for making it such a comfortable place!

"Exceptional staff care at Victory Center, but management issues persist."
Watch out if you're considering the Victory Center for your parent who needs basic assisted living and might require more help as they get older. My mom lived there for a while and the nursing assistants are lovely. They really try to give your parents the best care, which is super important! But the big issue is the management. When we first talked to them before moving mom in, she only needed a bit of help, but we knew that could change. They said the Victory Center was the last place mom would need to move. They said they could handle everything, even if she condition became such that she'd need a nursing home. They promised to adapt with her. They don't live up to those promises. If they think they're not getting enough money, the management will have no problems kicking your parents out without warning because they need too much care. Sure, you can try to take them to court, but getting a lawyer is super expensive and they know that. So sad. Mom is happy in a new place now, but it was a tough process. Do go to the Victory Center if you want good care from the staff. But make sure to get any promises the management offers in writing. Wish we had done that...

"Victory Centre Bartlett: Perfect Choice for Grandma's Care"
After moving my grandmother from Florida to be closer to us, we are thrilled with our choice of Victory Centre in Bartlett out of three options! Grandma was worried about coming back to Chicago and not knowing anyone. I was relieved when a caregiver introduced her to other residents, who have become her friends. We were concerned about her medication, but she’s had no problems. Thanks to physical therapy and doctor care, she even stopped taking two of her meds. When she had to have a procedure, a Victory nurse visited her in the hospital to say they missed her and couldn’t wait for her to return! Grandma loves participating in arts and crafts and enjoys the community dog. Even though she uses a walker, she’s been on many outings. The staff is always quick to help or update us. She uses her call button for assistance and says the staff is "always nice." We were worried she’d lose weight in Florida because she couldn’t cook for herself, but she looks so much better now with her meals prepared. I’ve heard horror stories from friends about senior housing, so I’m really glad we haven’t had that experience at Victory Centre in Bartlett!

"Poorly-staffed Facility with Terrible Food; Not Recommended"
My mom stays at Victory Center and I can assure you, it's not good. They don't have enough staff, and the helpers they have seem to only know how to dial 911. The food is awful - small servings, soups that are too salty yet watered down, and they're always running out of things like lemons, rye bread, and coffee. You get the point. The residents here need more care than what the staff can provide. I would advise anybody against choosing this place.

"Needs food improvement, friendly staff, clean environment."
The place is really tidy, and the people who work there are nice. But the food isn't that good, it's just okay, and the folks who serve it aren't the friendliest. There aren't a lot of options, and it seems like they cook it too much and it gets dry. The servers don't really try hard to be nice. But we do like the rooms, they're pretty nice.

"Nice Assisted Living Facility With Minor Issues"
This assisted living place is really nice. The people who work here are always professional. I haven't seen anyone be mean to the people living here. My sister and I had brunch here on Mother's Day. The meal was really good. My family member who lives here enjoys the food too. But, finding a parking spot can be hard if you're just dropping by. Also, on the day my loved one moved in, we didn't really feel welcomed. We were kind of lost and nobody really helped us out. But, my sister was just coming from a rehab center, so maybe that's why things were a bit shaky. Also, there's something about the billing that bothers me. I need to have a bill to submit to our long-term insurance provider, and getting one usually means having to remind them a couple of times. But, we've only been dealing with this for 3 months. Despite that, the place is truly beautiful.

""Pretty Exterior, Yet Dark and Repressive Inside""
When I first arrived, I noticed there were a lot of people waiting around the entrance. The building itself is really nice-looking from the outside, and it seems like a peaceful place where residents could take walks on sunny days. But, like every assisted living facility I've seen, once you get past the front door you're met with a dark, basement-like interior. I just don’t understand why they can't let in more natural light. After all, people feel better with more sunlight.

"Laundry mix-up and delayed assistance, but improved after feedback."
The laundry situation is really bad. They wash all the clothes together, including towels. When my dad presses his call button, they don't always come right away or as fast as they should. I think they don't have enough staff. At first, they were somewhat rude. I told them about it right away, and it got better. I think they should train the housekeeping staff better so they can take care of everything that needs to be done in one room before moving on to the next, instead of doing it a little at a time and having to come back.

"Supportive Care Program Ensures Affordable Senior Living at Victory Centre"
My mom moved there because of their care program. She doesn't have much money left, but the program will help her keep her apartment until she runs out. Unlike other places, they accept Medicaid. They have separate buildings for assisted living and apartments for seniors. For those in the supportive care program, there's help with dressing, laundry, and cleaning, plus escorts to dinner. Compared to other places, they're not as expensive. Victory Centre offers competitive rates in the industry.
