"Mixed Feelings About Bickford of Crown Point"
We've been at Bickford of Crown Point for a bit now, and we think other families might like it too. But, it kind of depends on what kind of help they need. Right now, the biggest problem seems to be communication.

"Limited Activities, Few Staff: Mixed Experience at Assisted Living"
I'd say this community is a good spot for seniors who don't require much help. But with only 2 CNAs for 55 residents, it's a bit understaffed. Unfortunately, there weren't many activities available during my loved one's stay.

"Unprepared Facility With No Room Available"
Nobody was waiting for me since they thought I was headed to Rockford. Even though I got a friendly welcome, they told me after hearing about that they didn't have a spot for him. So, why did they even waste my time talking to me?

"Not the Right Fit, Despite Good Tour and Friendly Staff"
This community seemed nice during my tour. Everything looked neat and clean. The staff were friendly and nice to us. There were a lot of things to consider when deciding where to put my dad. The tour was good, but we decided this place wasn't right for us.

"Cozy and Friendly Assisted Living with Great Views"
Right when I walked into Bickford, I noticed how happy everyone was! It feels super homey with lots of places to sit by fireplaces and really nice furniture everywhere. The place where everyone eats looks welcoming, kind of like a warm lodge or a comfy restaurant. They've got two outdoor spaces in the middle with gardens, bushes, flowers, and even a tree. The rooms are neat and cheerful with big windows. Behind the building, there's a pond where you can watch animals - it's so calm. Plus, there's a big porch out front with super comfy outdoor chairs. The people who work here are super kind and friendly. My dad's been living here for just over a month, and he's fitting in great. He's already made a bunch of new friends. There's always something fun to do or some kind of show to watch. I even told my son that when it's time for me to move into a place like this, I want to live here too - especially if I can get a room that looks out at the pond. But he told me it's too pricey for us. And he's right; it costs a lot! P.S. Dad says the food tastes good!

"Assisted Living Facility Falls Short on Expectations"
I wasn't sure about writing a review too soon, but my Mom has been at this place for over 5 weeks now. What caught our attention was the size and overall atmosphere of the facility. Mom's room is really nice, with excellent bathroom facilities. The folks at the front office have been quite responsive to different needs. However, we encountered a major problem with over-billing for medications. The pharmacy (Valumed) that the facility works with doesn't seem to pick up their phones. The nurse is aware of this too; she mentioned they don't return her calls either. Mom's physical condition has gotten worse since she arrived. She was moved here after a hip injury and her mobility has decreased significantly. Although she's receiving outpatient rehab from a service recommended by the facility's nurse, she's still struggling. The food here is just okay, and Mom isn't eating much either. We had high hopes for Mom's well-being here, but now we're exploring other options. While Sue and Tonya seem to be doing a good job, the nurse feels a bit disconnected. I understand that the first few weeks can be tough, but seeing Mom decline like this at an assisted living facility makes me doubt if Bickford can really meet our needs.

"Struggles with Assisted Living Facility"
I wasn't sure about reviewing this so soon, but my Mom's been living at the assisted care home for over a month now. There's a lot we liked about it, like how big it is and how home-like it feels. Mom's room is really nice, with a good bathroom. The folks in the front office have been helping us a lot with everything we need. But we did have a big problem with them overcharging us for medicine costs. It's been tough to get the pharmacy they use, called Valumed, to talk to us about it. The nurse working there knows about it too – she says they don't call her back either. Mom's health isn't as good as when she went in – she had to move from a recovery place after breaking her hip. She can't move around as much as she used to – even though she's getting therapy from this place the nurse picked out. We're worried because she's lost a lot of her strength and we're thinking about what other choices we have. The food's just okay and Mom hasn't been eating much. We really hoped this would be a great place for her but we're starting to look elsewhere. It feels like the nurse is not there for us. We knew these early weeks could be tough, but seeing Mom get weaker in a place that's supposed to help her makes me think this place might not be able to give us what we need.

""Salesperson's Focus on Money Spoils Initial Bickford Visit""
We checked out this place while figuring out care options for our family members. Bickford appeared pretty good, but the salesperson didn't leave us feeling great. They cared more about money details than whether our loved one would be comfortable there, which was annoying.

"Pricey but Pleasant: Nice, but costs climb with care needs."
My relative visited this place and thought it was the best among the ones we checked out. However, the starting price was $5300 each month. If you require extra care, the cost increases from that point. And if your needs change, the price keeps rising. It's quite costly, but it's really nice.
