"Brentwood at LaPorte: A Good Choice for Residents"

We picked Brentwood at LaPorte because they had space and moved her in fast. The room sizes are just right for her. I live here too, and it’s been a positive experience. I’d recommend it.

"Informative Tour, Still Deciding"

My tour was super helpful, and they answered my questions. The place looked clean and well-kept. Most residents seemed happy. I'm still gathering info and haven't decided if it's right for our loved one. Thanks!

"Nurse's Disrespectful Behavior Promoted to Leadership!"

Several weeks ago, I witnessed a nurse hollering at a resident, telling him to sit down. The same nurse directed another resident, who needed help with eating, to gulp down her drink quickly. To make matters worse, they later elevated that very nurse to the position of Assistant Director of Nursing. I strongly advise to get your dear ones out of this absurd facility. That is absolutely not the way to handle care for those with memory problems.

"Disappointing Experience at Brentwood Assisted Living Facility"

My mom's been at Brentwood since January 2017. My nephew became her guardian then. My brother and I don't get along, so he made a short visitor list for Mom, which didn't include me. That's okay. I got a court order to visit her, but my wife and Mom's friends can't. I know this isn't Brentwood's fault, but bear with me. Some people at the front desk are unfriendly. I have a court order to see Mom, and they act rude. One lady said no one by Mom's name lived there, even though I visited for over a month. I was offended by her lie. When I confronted her, she said, "That's what they're paid for." I told her only politicians get paid to lie, not her. In the memory care unit, I saw an employee yell at a resident for being hungry. Another resident asked to go outside multiple times but was denied. I'm sure they take them out sometimes, but how often? Once, when I was trying to talk to Mom, a nurse had the music so loud residents couldn't hear the TV. The staff are often on their phones or chatting instead of watching residents. Maybe that's why my aunt, who also lives there, fell and got hurt. What bothers me most is the employee yelling at a resident just for being hungry. That's sad! I'm going for guardianship over Mom, and I'm bringing her home. The people at Brentwood seem to lack compassion for the elderly.

"Concerning Care and Attitude at Brentwood Assisted Living"

My mom has been living at Brentwood since and since then my nephew took on her guardianship. My brother and I have problems and he made a short list of mom's visitors that didn't include me. I got a court order for visits, but my wife or any of our friends can't see her. This isn't Brentwood's fault but it's part of the situation. Some people at the front desk are not friendly, even though I have court permission to see mom. Once, someone claimed mom didn't live there, despite my frequent visits. She basically admitted to lying to me, which was super disrespectful. The staff in the memory care unit are a concern. Once, I saw a resident say she was hungry and an employee yelled at her. That upset me. Another resident kept asking to go outside and was told no. They take memory care folks outside, but how often? Once I was having trouble talking to my mom because a nurse turned her music up too loudly. The staff that should be taking care of residents are often on their phones or chatting with colleagues. This might explain why my aunt, who also lives there, fell and got a terrible head bump and bruised arm. The most distressing thing for me was an employee yelling at a resident just for being hungry. That's just not right! My plan is to seek guardianship of mom and my first move will be to bring her home. The folks at Brentwood just don't seem to care much for older people.

"Mixed Experience at Brentwood Assisted Living Facility"

Brentwood is a pleasant place, with friendly staff and good care. However, the intake process needs improvement. The administration and line staff seem disconnected. Overall, it's better than my mother's previous situation.

"Mixed Experience at Brentwood Assisted Living Facility"

Brentwood is pretty nice. It's clean and looks good. The workers are nice and take good care of the people who live there. But, when we first got there, the information we gave didn't seem to get to the right people. We said we'd get our mom's medicine, but they ordered it anyway and it cost a lot. We asked them not to do mom's hair, but they did it anyway. We talked to the boss a lot about these problems, but it didn't really help. We had to do a lot of extra stuff to get mom in, even things we didn't need. Besides that, mom likes it there. It's better than where she was before. We're happy she's there and getting good care. They just need to be better organized when people first come in and after that.

"Clean, hotel-like feel, good care options for different needs."

My dad was there about 6 months. It's a nice, very clean place. It feels more like a hotel than a hospital, so I'd recommend it. They offer different levels of care, which was good for my dad before he passed away.

"Assisted Living Feels Like a Hotel - Highly Recommend"

My dad stayed there about 6 months. It's really nice, clean, and feels more like a hotel than a hospital. I'd recommend it to others. They offer different levels of care, which was great for my dad, who needed more help before he passed away.

"Not Worth the Distance"

Didn't want to go there...it's just too far.
