"Brookdale Granger Assisted Living Needs Staff Improvement"
Don't recommend Brookdale Granger. My family's year-long experience wasn't good. The main problem is the staff-to-resident ratio. When we visited, they said they always had enough staff for residents at all levels of care, but that's not true. Sometimes it takes over an hour for someone to respond to the call light. My dad says it's pointless to push it because they won't come. The call light in his section didn't work for months, and even after it was supposedly fixed, the average wait time is over 20 minutes. We've reported many safety issues, like not being changed regularly and only getting a weekly shower, to incorrect medication. But with only 1 nurse and 2 aides for over 35 residents, this is what happens. There's a lot of staff turnover, and good people leave because they're frustrated with management.

"Assisted Living Response Needs Improvement"
I've struggled to get answers from some staff members. But, the activities director and other workers have been great with my mom.

"Short-staffed care impacts family's experience."
The staff is nice, but Dad needs more help.

"Assisted Living Facility Falls Short in Care and Amenities"
My family member's care is not good. Their room is dirty sometimes. Trash overflows, and the floor is not cleaned by the staff. The director responds quickly, but the staff can't visit my loved one. Only two staff members care for everyone, and they're too few. My family member doesn't like the food. It's hard to chew, and there are no options or snacks available as promised. The activities director is good but gets pulled away from her job to help in the kitchen. The staff isn't checking on my loved one as paid for.

"Disappointed with facility’s care but hopeful with new management."
When I first visited this assisted living facility looking for a place for my dad, I had a meeting with one of the sales and marketing people. That person assumed my dad was already going to move in, which annoyed me. It felt really pushy, but I decided to not judge the place on that. My dad ended up moving in. My dad is 98 and uses a wheelchair. He can hold his feet up but gets tired easily. Whenever he's being transported, he needs to have his foot pedals on his wheelchair to prevent any accidents. Numerous times, I found out these weren't put on though I've reminded multiple staff about it. One even said my dad does better without them! There's a new Director of Nursing now, who I think is doing a good job. Her name is [name]. My sister and I met her to address our worries and she was very honest. The facility, Brookdale Granger, is not in the greatest shape right now, but I honestly believe [name] is doing her best to improve things. There's another nurse, [name], who's also pretty good. He's been helping both at Granger and at another facility, [community name]. I just hope everything isn't so messed up that they can't fix it.

"Nice place but too advanced and small."
Brookdale Granger was nice, but it is more suited for people further along in the dementia progression than my father. Also, it is a smaller community with fewer people.

"Mostly good staff and service, recommend this place."
Some of the staff are nice; a few are not. The Director of Nursing doesn’t answer my questions. Two sisters clean the apartments. They are friendly, respectful, and do a good job. Dining hall servers are helpful and caring. I think the food could be better, but Mom and other residents like it. Portions are small, but you can ask for seconds or order extra sides. Moving in was easy because Mom’s apartment has an outside door. They talk to me since Mom doesn't handle things herself. I recommend this assisted living facility to others.

"Not a Cozy Fit for Mom"
As soon as we stepped inside, we could tell this place wasn't a good match for Mom. It didn't feel cozy and seemed too much like an institution.

"Feels like home, but staff inexperienced."
Liked it here, felt a bit like home. Smaller environment but nice. Our only concern was the staff. The two we spoke to had very little time on the job.

"Decline in Quality Leads to Resident’s Departure"
I’m not really keen on this place. My buddy had to take her mom out of here because the food and the care aren’t what they used to be. I got to see the inside when her mom lived there. It was a nice-looking spot and seemed like a good choice when her mom first moved in, more than a year back. But they just left this past month.

"Good care and safe environment"
My in-laws are doing pretty well since moving to this community. They’ve adjusted nicely, and we feel comfortable with their decision to move here. The staff is kind and takes good care of them and their needs. The community is clean and looks nice whenever we visit. They also keep the residents busy with plenty of activities. This is a good, safe place, and I would recommend it.
