"Manager Avoids Refunding Money For Unused Senior Apartment"
They said they would pay back the leftover money we paid for an elderly apartment a month early, but they still haven't done it. I've tried to talk to them a bunch of times, and the person in charge says she'll look into it and let me know, but she never does. Now, whenever I call to speak to her, she's always busy in a meeting, or can't talk to me, and the other staff don't even let me leave a voicemail for her. It's been almost two whole months.

"Pet-friendly, good care, could improve food quality."
We chose Kokomo Place based on a good initial visit and because they're pet-friendly. Dad's dog is part of the community, loved by everyone. They've been cooperative, keeping him well cared for. The food could be more nutritious and less bland. Overall, they've done well, and I'd recommend them.

"Clean Facilities, Friendly Staff, Quality Meals"
My older brother moved to Kokomo Place earlier this year. He likes how clean the facilities are and enjoys the quality of the meals. The staff is friendly and helpful.

"Disappointing Experience and Lack of Care at Assisted Living Facility"
When my dad first moved into this assisted living fate facility, I thought everything was great. They promised security, good meals, and opportunities for him to socialize. They were even helpful when we were moving in. Dad lived there for five months. But around the third month, I found out he was going to the gas station on a busy road by himself for snacks and soda. Every time I gave him money, he ended up broke quickly because he'd spend $12-$15 at a time. And the 44oz diet cokes he was buying gave him several UTIs. I was supposed to know when someone took Dad out of the facility, but they stopped letting me know after a few months. There were also no activities for him to do. He barely left his room except to eat, and often, he'd convince the staff to let him eat in his room alone, which just made him messier. They wouldn't clean his carpet more than once a year, even though he kept spilling stuff. Dad got more and more unhappy and kept saying he wanted to leave. Finally, I found a nice lady who could look after him in her house. She had lots of activities and outings for him. But when I told the facility about the new arrangement, they treated me like an outcast. No one helped me move Dad's stuff out, and I had to take everything from his room through the lobby. Other residents watched us. I paid almost $25k in five months including a move-in fee, which feels like a ripoff. They wouldn't even help me set up a phone. And, they keep charging you even after you've moved out until your notice period is up. Also, the food quality was not as good as it seemed in the beginning, with hot dogs and bologna served often. The nurses were nice, but the management staff could use some improvement.

"Friendly Staff and Secure Environment, but Private Pay Concerns"
I wish we didn't have to pay privately; it's tough for us. But I do like Kokomo Place. The nurses and caregivers are really nice and helpful. My dad visits my mom every day, and the staff look out for him too. Once he didn't come, and they called to check on him (he was fine, just not feeling well). Mom gets good care and food, though sometimes she's not cleaned or given meds on time. But I get it, they have a small staff and 40 people to look after. They're open to feedback and try to fix things. I like that it's small and secure. I don't know much about the activities, but Mom's played bingo and colored with others.

This assisted living place is really clean, and the staff are super friendly and helpful. I checked out other places before picking Kokomo Place, and we’re really happy with it. It’s perfect for our mom’s needs.

"Comfortable stay, clean grounds, could improve staff response time."
My friend is comfortable at Kokomo Place. Grounds are clean, activities enjoyable. Staff response time could improve, but respectful treatment.
