"Loved one enjoys community atmosphere but seeks more staff communication."
My favorite part about this place is how residents come together as a community. My family member spends a lot of time in the cafeteria, where residents are encouraged to sit together, chat, and join activities. Living here gives her a sense of community she didn't have when she lived alone. I don't hear much from social workers or higher-level staff. I wish there were more check-ins from them. Occasionally, we get calls from the nursing staff for questions, but most of the time, we have to initiate interactions.

"Inattentive staff, mediocre food, residents unattended at nursing home."
I wouldn't recommend this nursing home for your family members. It appears that the staff are constantly chatting among themselves instead of tending to their patients. I frequently drop by to see some friends that live here, and, having worked in other nursing homes, I've never seen patients just left alone in their rooms like this. On one occasion, the call light was ignored for over an hour, which is simply unacceptable. Furthermore, the food is just average, nothing noteworthy. I feel it's essential for the staff - the nurses and aides - to take courses in respect and compassion. Personally, I wouldn't place my family here. It's disturbing to see the residents looking disoriented and cooped up. I find it completely unacceptable!

"Mixed Feelings on Meals and Service, but Great Community and Activities"
The meals and meal service could be better. Many residents complain about the quality and waiting times. However, the community is lovely, with friendly residents who support each other. Our loved one really enjoys the activities. Despite the meal issues, we would recommend Sugar Grove community to other families.

"Happy Residents Enjoy Convenient Community"
They offer nice activities, and the location is convenient for our family. The apartment is good, and the cost is fair. The staff is wonderful, but they could use more maintenance help. Overall, my loved one is quite happy.

"Not Quite What We Expected"
Sugar Grove was okay, but not exactly what we wanted. It felt a bit old-fashioned.

"Lacking Consistency"
My loved one has been here for 3 months, but they’ve only cleaned the toilet once. They’re supposed to do laundry too, but that’s only happened once as well. Staffing issues seem common. The sweet staff are helpful, but the call button only works during certain shifts. If they improved cleaning and responsiveness, it’d be a better value. Excited for facility improvements soon.

"Costly and outdated compared to preferred assisted living option."
This place cost more than we wanted and isn't as modern as another we considered.

"“Friendly Staff and Clean Apartments at Sugar Grove”"
I liked Sugar Grove. It was our top pick, but they said it wasn’t right for Dad. The staff were friendly, and the apartments were clean and new. I’d suggest checking it out.

"Caring Staff, Mixed Food Reviews at Assisted Living Facility"
They're doing a pretty good job. My mom's been here for about 4 months now, and they're really trying to help her out. She's not too thrilled with the food though; she often says it's undercooked and not very varied. The director and head nurse are really nice and thoughtful. Overall, I'd suggest it to others who are looking.

"Good place with kind staff but needs updates and improvements"
I think this place is really good for assisted living. It's been a good experience for my loved one. The staff is very nice and pays a lot of attention to her. The facility could use some updates since it looks a bit old. They clean it regularly, though, about once a week. The food and activities could be a bit better too.

"Positive Experience at Sugar Grove Assisted Living"
Our family had a good experience at Sugar Grove. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The staff were pleasant. Sometimes our loved one didn't get medications on time due to being on many. Despite this, we would recommend this community to others.

I'd suggest to anyone that our time at Sugar Grove's memory care unit wasn't good. I'd advise others to seek out a different place and avoid putting your family here.

"Assisted Living Staff Fails Residents During Covid-19"
The staff has been super rude. I've left messages and voicemails, but no one has bothered to get back to me. They're not cooperating at all, and it's really frustrating. During Covid-19, they're not even cleaning the rooms or bathrooms. They bring food to people's rooms, but they don't bother cleaning up afterward. And they're not returning calls to the social workers either.

"Possible Long-Term Option, Concerns About Continued Care"
We liked the facility and the tour, but we were worried because they couldn't provide long-term care. It's still a possible option, but we're looking for more choices for the long term.
