"The Harrison: A Decent Assisted Living Option"
I thought the nurses at The Harrison were good. The place is old, but it’s clean and safe. I ate there once, and the food was okay. My dad liked it too. When Dad needed more care than Assisted Living could provide, they helped us until he could move to a better place. I’d recommend The Harrison to family and friends.

"Spacious, pleasant; needs more diabetic menu options; residents generally friendly."
It's a good place with spacious, airy interiors. Needs more diabetic menu options. People are lovely despite occasional issues.

"Assisted Living Community Offers Variety, Room for Improvement"
This place is kinda like others, but cheaper. It's like a cruise ship: you get a room, food, and activities. Some folks don't like the food. We need more food options for folks with special diets. There's lots to do here: games, yoga, bingo, movies, and more. I'd give it a 3, but some staff are really great.

Talking to staff is a problem. They need to explain things better. It’s tough to reach them about my loved one.

"Mixed Experience with Memory Care, Recommend with Caution"
I think the memory care part is good here, and the rooms, carpeting, and restrooms are nice. However, my neighbor has been there since February 15th, and her bed hadn't been washed even once until I complained about it. They cleaned it right away when I brought it up because they didn't know the staff weren't doing it. I think they're having a hard time finding enough employees, so they have a lot of young and inexperienced people doing most of the work. My neighbor doesn't like the younger staff members, but we're going to try to work with them to make sure she gets the right care. Despite these issues, I would still recommend them to families, as long as they know about these things.

"Assisted Living Facility Lacks Mask Compliance, Communication, and Maintenance"
This place has some problems. The workers aren't wearing masks like they should. I've been waiting over two weeks for them to fix things I've asked about. It's hard to talk to the staff because they don't get back to me. Right now, I wouldn't tell anyone to live here.

"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living: Great First Impression, Some Care Concerns"
We were really happy when we first visited. Overall, everything's good. Our main concern is the daily care our loved one needs. Some staff aren't as trained in medical care as they should be. The rooms here are more than enough.

"Good place but food declined during COVID."
We moved my in-laws in right before COVID hit and then decided to take them out once it started. We chose The Harrison because of the cleanliness, appearance, activities, and location. The room sizes here were very good and spacious. Pre-COVID, the food was very good, but during COVID, they lost staff, and the food quality went downhill fast. The best part about the community was the inter-atrium that residents can hang out in. I would recommend the community.

"Great communication and care during COVID-19"
We have a family member living at The Harrison and we're really happy with everything. They always tell us if there's a fall and what needs to be done. During the Coronavirus, the Executive Director sent daily emails (Monday to Friday) about the facility's status. They shared how many residents and staff were sick and how many got better or passed away. Unlike other places, The Harrison gave accurate updates. Thankfully, everyone has been healthy for the past three weeks. As Indiana reopens, the facility changes rules for dropping off items and visiting. The Executive Director and staff have been great at keeping us informed, and we really appreciate it. We didn't get this level of communication at other places.

"The Harrison Hikes Rates By 25%, Burdening Residents"
For the past few years, The Harrison had many residents. When Crestwood senior living shut down, their residents started moving to The Harrison. Consequently, The Harrison raised their prices by 25% for one-bedroom apartments. This makes you question if The Harrison truly cares about its residents as they boosted prices overnight by 25% for the residencies. Some residents are struggling to afford their private rooms with the current cost, let alone with this new increase. Moreover, since they aren't a Medicaid facility, once they've taken all your money, you'll have to find a new place that accepts Medicaid.

"Extreme Neglect and Lack of Compassion at The Harrison"
My dad was at The Harrison for almost two years, and it was a disaster. The staff kept changing and nobody talked to each other, so you always had to tell them what kind of help your loved one needed. It was chaotic and no one seemed to care. I can't believe a place that has a memory care unit doesn't have a nurse available 24/7. My dad was originally in assisted living, then after hospital and rehab, needed more help. The director suggested the memory care unit, saying he'd get better care there because there were fewer residents per staff member. But it was just the same. Completely unprofessional! He got worse fast, and hospice recommended moving him to a nursing home. The director disagreed, but I followed hospice's advice because The Harrison couldn't give him the morphine he needed. He would have been in terrible pain without a nurse to give him the medicine. Five days after we left The Harrison, my dad passed away. They didn't even post a notice, even though they usually do for other residents. The director and other staff ignored me when I came to clean out his room. People only found out my dad had died because they heard it from someone else. This is how much The Harrison cares.

"Harrison Assisted Living Shows No Consideration for Family Concerns"
My folks stay at Harrison assisted living. The Director there doesn't care about our family and never responds. We've asked several times for a list of the meds they get and when, to check if everything's right. But they just won't give it to us. They know we're the key decision-makers for our parents' health and finances, even have the paperwork to prove it. They also won't stop charging us for things we don't need, like waking up reminders, help with hearing aids, tidying beds, prompts for bathing, and more. We look after all that with the help of personal helpers. Harrison's management lacks professionalism big time. We kept asking what else we need to do to get things done and, guess what, no answer. We're still trying, though.

"Still adjusting…"
My mom’s still adjusting at The Harrison. Each week, she’s doing better. Housekeeping could improve—linens aren’t always washed, and her apartment isn’t consistently clean. But the staff is super friendly. A few ladies have taken her under their wing during mealtime.

"Decent Assisted Living with Room for Improvement"
This community's pretty decent and the workers seem caring. The food they have could be better though. They offer fun stuff to do for folks living there, if they want to be involved. The place looked clean to us. If you're looking for somewhere for a family member to live, we think you should check this place out.

"Nice Place with Helpful Staff and Activities!"
I like this community! The people who work here are really nice and always ready to help. They have things to do every day, and sometimes they take us out to shops and restaurants, which is fun. The food isn't the best, but it's okay. They make sure everything is clean, and if you need help cleaning your place, they'll do it for you. They even give rides if you need them. I think this place is great and would tell others to check it out.

I really needed to find somewhere for my dad fast. I reached out to Place for Mom and they came through for me within just one day. The folks there were super friendly, kind, and really got what I needed. I feel lucky to have found them. Huge thanks for everything you did to help!

"Unfit for seniors with memory issues and emergencies"
The Harrison isn't a place for old folks with memory problems. Doesn't matter if it's just short-term or early dementia. Also, I really don't think they're equipped to deal with big emergencies, especially when it comes to their nursing staff.

"Convenient, friendly place with meal service, but not ideal location."
This place is pretty nice, and the people who work here are friendly. You can live somewhat on your own, but there's help if you need it, and you can pick and choose what you want. They give you one meal a day, which is nice. It's over by Speedway, which isn't exactly where we'd prefer it to be.
