"Caring Staff and Familiar Atmosphere"

I really like how they pay attention to us residents and treat us like family.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"

The move-in process was easy. Staff are friendly and helpful, but there’s been a lot of turnover. Housekeeping is okay, and laundry service is great. Communication can be hit or miss. The food is high quality with variety. However, the heating/cooling system needs replacing. Overall, it’s good enough for my mom, but I wouldn’t recommend it for someone needing more care.

"A Cozy Assisted Living Gem"

The building got a fancy makeover with lots of money. The staff is friendly, caring, and really tries hard. They fixed most of the issues from last year's management changes, but communication isn't perfect yet. The food is super tasty. The location is awesome—right across from a CVS Pharmacy for urgent meds and other stuff. The outdoor areas are beautiful with nice gardens and courtyards. It's just the right size: big enough for a full staff, but cozy enough for a close-knit community.

"Director Ignores Problems, Resident’s Room at Assisted Living Still Broken"

My relative lives at Independence Village of Fishers South and it's been pretty bad. She's been waiting for a serious room fix for weeks. I tried talking to the boss, but she ignored me and never replied. Sometimes, they're good, but mostly it's been a total disaster.

"Great staff, lease issues after father's passing."

My father lived here over 2 years, staff wonderful. Issues with lease.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"

I was told they’d take out the trash and do light housekeeping every day or every other day. But that’s not happening. The staff is friendly, though. My husband has trouble with falling, even though he’s in memory care. This might not be the best place for him, but for now, he’ll stay.

"Great Food and Friendly Staff at Assisted Living Facility"

My mom stayed here until she passed away a month ago. She always talked about how great the food was and loved the new chef. He made sure she had everything she needed and even visited her table. She also said everyone was super friendly and always helped her out. The managing director often invited me to lunch, but I only got to join her once last summer. The food and service were like a restaurant. I never got to thank everyone for taking such good care of my mom.

" "Good Enough, But Lacking in Quality Care and Activities""

The food here is definitely enjoyable, with a nice menu and selection of dishes. However, ensure not to skip your meal time as the meals they send up as replacements often disappoint. When it comes to cleanliness, it's a gold star. The assisted living side of the facility is filled with friendly, caring individuals but they are sorely needing more staff members. The memory care section, unfortunately, is less positive. Staff there are noted for yelling at the residents at times. The primary side of the facility is appealing, bright, and welcoming. The memory care side, in stark contrast, feels a bit like a prison, with a gloomy, dark atmosphere. The folks there seem to do as they please, and it's not uncommon to see residents wandering into other people's rooms. One important tip - label all personal belongings, it makes it easier to find them when misplaced. As for the value, the facilities are reasonably priced on the assisted side. The memory care side, however, feels severely overpriced, especially given the level of service provided. Speaking of care services, they're just okay in my opinion. Sometimes they'll deliver a meal if you miss it, but it's a pretty sorry state of things. And while the activities are well-intentioned, they don't necessarily hit the mark in terms of stimulation or entertainment. Many folks seem to be wandering aimlessly out of boredom, a common complaint among the residents. Honestly, I'm not a huge fan, and neither are my parents. They describe it as 'just alright'. Given the high cost of these services, I definitely had higher expectations.

"Mixed Feelings about The Hearth Assisted Living Facility"

Our experience with The Hearth has been okay. Maintenance needs improvement. The building outside needs paint, some parts are falling apart, and there are cracks near the smoking area. My family member dealt with two faulty refrigerators. I'm not sure if the staff cleans my loved one's room, changes the sheets, and vacuums. I haven't seen a cleaning crew. The staff tries their best, they're busy but friendly and helpful, and they encourage residents to join activities. I like they have a speech therapist and a hair salon. Overall, it fits our needs.

"Great tour, but small apartments"

This is a very nice community, and the staff did a great job with my tour. They took their time showing me around and answered all my questions. They offer a lot for the residents here. The apartments were a bit small, and I just didn't feel this would be the best fit for my dad.

"Review: Cramped Spaces at Assisted Living Facility"

This place felt too cramped for us-the hallways seemed skinny and the rooms felt tiny.

"Not for Mom!"

I visited The Hearth at Windermere and it was nice. Everyone was friendly, the place looked good, but it's too tall for Mom.

"Nice Assisted Living: Still Improving, Overall Pretty Good"

My mom's doing okay in this place. We're figuring out a few things, but mostly it's good. The community looks nice and is kept up well. It's not perfect yet, but overall, it's going pretty well.

"Appalling Experience with Grossly Understaffed Facility"

I truly regret stepping foot in this facility. In no time, my dear family member fell, and no one bothered to alert me about the accident. It was left up to me to seek medical aid. They simply don't have enough staff.

"Mother Thriving in Great Assisted Living, Highly Recommended Small Community"

My mom is doing really well here. I'm very happy with her decision to move here. The people who work here take good care of her. The staff are awesome. Mom's enjoying participating in community activities. She likes the meals, they're tasty. I feel confident knowing she's safe and well cared for here. It's a small, cozy place which is nice. I think it's great and would recommend it to others.

"Small Lobby, Remodeling, Good Food, Small Courtyard, Dark Storm Area"

The Hearth at Windermere's lobby is kinda small. During our tour, they were fixing it up. The dining room and food were better here than where we chose. But, the courtyard was tiny and not really our thing. Also, the area for tornado storms didn't have any windows, so it felt kinda gloomy.

"Mom's Care at The Hearth: A Happy Home"

My mom has been living at The Hearth At Windermere for four years now. She's 91 years old. I'm really happy with the care she gets. The nurses are amazing, and everyone helps her with whatever she needs. Overall, I'm very satisfied and wouldn't think of moving her. She considers The Hearth her home. Bill

"Rude Social Worker Degrades Title 19 Nursing Homes"

The social worker was really rude. She went on to trash talk nursing homes that take title 19 help and told me they're usually way worse than the ones that are private only. This seriously put me off.

"Limited Staff at Hearth at Windermere Causes Care Concerns"

We moved my Mom into Hearth at Windermere and she was pleased with the kind staff and residents there. But, many disorganized events happened in the first couple of months, which made me give the care services a low score of 2. It seems they need to hire more people, including better-trained CNAs who can handle all the care tasks. Without beating around the bush, it is clear that this is a profit-driven business and the corporate office doesn't grasp the need for more staff. I wish more people would speak up about the messy care services – that might prompt them to hire additional people. This could help prevent missing medicine, skipping showers, and lack of help with clothing changes, especially when you're paying for this type of care. Lastly, Mom's room was so dirty when we first arrived and we ended up cleaning it ourselves. This happened during a weekend while the housekeeping manager was off so that might be why. I suspect a few people failed to communicate that she was moving in. I would advise you to be on your toes when dealing with an assisted living facility and always monitor the care of your loved ones. After two and half months now, we're still dealing with issues even though I visit three times a week.

"Five Wonderful Years at The Hearth"

We had two family members living at The Hearth for 5 1/2 years. We loved so many things—the great meals, the family atmosphere, the dog, the fireplaces, the beautiful courtyards, and the kindness shown to family members. The staff are the best, from the nurses to the housekeepers, maintenance, dietary workers, and those at the front desk. The activity staff are amazing, and everyone knows your name. They will always be special in our hearts. Thank you to The Hearth for five great years of care.

"Wonderful experience at Windermere"

My mom and I have interacted with everyone at Windermere, and they have all been sincerely helpful, courteous, and kind. We are very happy we chose this place for my mom to hopefully spend the rest of her life.

"Friendly and Helpful Assisted Living Experience"

We’ve been here for 2 months and found the staff and residents very friendly and helpful. Medical assistance is better than our previous facility, and costs are comparable. So far, The Hearth at Windermere has been pleasant.

"Shadowy Yet Pleasant, Hotel-like Assisted Living Facility"

Decent, Aged Facility with Friendly Folks; it is Clean but Rather Hotel-like and Dark.

"Nice place!"

We’ve been really happy with The Hearth at Windermere. The staff is friendly and takes good care of the residents. The facility is clean and well-maintained. The only challenge is that it’s larger than what she’s used to, so she’s adjusting socially. Overall, it’s a nice place, and we’d recommend it for senior care.

"Active Residents Enjoy Older Facility with Helpful Staff"

Leslie knew a lot and helped a bunch. The building's older than others I've seen, but residents are busy with activities. It's cool seeing that. One person, who's been here for five years, said they're really happy. The folks who live and work here are awesome.

"Inadequate Hospice Care and Overstated Amenities"

I'm moving my dad away from this place since my mom passed and he isn't as ill as others living here. I wasn't thrilled with their understanding of hospice care. They had trouble getting my mom medications on time. The issues with their end-of-life care never got solved. Because of this, my mom had to go to the hospital sooner than necessary. From outside, the place looks clean. Yet, it always has a strange smell. They do maintain it, and it's in good shape, but the staff doesn't respond quickly to resident's call lights. Additionally, they have a high staff turnover, which is a problem you only realize when you're there. They bragged about having plenty of activities and transport services, but they couldn't take my mom to her doctor appointments, and the activities weren't as plentiful as advertised.

"Exactly what my father needed"

The staff here are super friendly, I can’t believe how nice they are. At first, we had some trouble figuring out what care my dad needed and how much it would cost, but the care is amazing. They make sure he takes his medicine and help him to the bathroom. I chose The Hearth because of the real sense of community between the residents and staff, and that feeling has only grown the more I visit. I checked out more expensive places, but The Hearth was the best fit.

"All-Inclusive Supportive Assisted Living Experience"

Assisted Living is a place where seniors can live independently or get extra care as they grow older. Residents can freely come and go, but they know help is available when needed. They offer supportive services in the privacy of your own apartment. You have to pay privately for these services. The package includes an apartment, three meals a day, weekly housekeeping, linens, daily trash removal, and utilities except for phone and cable. They also provide scheduled transportation for doctor appointments and outings, as well as a nurse call system. They offer health care services for administering medicine. Each floor has personal laundry facilities, and they charge per load. If someone starts wandering, they'll transition them to the next level of care called Keep Sake, which includes everything.
