"Poor patient care and unprofessional staff at Towne Center."

I had to visit Towne Center frequently for my job and, honestly, they have some of the worst patient care. The nurses seem lazy, uncaring and uninformed. I often noticed a lot of aides present, but still, the residents lacked proper care. I later discovered that many of these aides weren't even certified by the state to work. While in the facility, I personally observed: * Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) treating residents rudely and harshly, * CNAs ignoring call lights, * Residents appearing unkempt and unclean, as if they aren't looked after well, * Lack of nursing assistance in the dining room (which is dangerous) - many residents need help with eating, cutting up food, and opening items like condiments and sugar packets. The kitchen staff often wouldn't assist because they were always short-staffed. While Towne Center might be one of the cheaper nursing homes around, there's no way I would let those I care about stay there.

"Assisted Living Falls Short in Care; Disappointing Experience"

When I visited, I often had to clean up my mom and change her clothes and bedding. She needed more help than they gave. I was let down.

"Loved One Might Get Lost in Maze-Like Facility"

The place was okay, but it felt like a maze. I worry my loved one might get lost going around. It's just too big.

"Affordable, friendly staff, okay food with canned fruits."

It's affordable. Staff are nice. Food okay, but canned fruits.

"Clean, active community with homey feel and good facilities"

The community is very clean and has no bad smells. There are many activities for the residents, and the staff encourage everyone to join in. Music is always playing. The common area is spacious with lots of tables and seating. The nurses' stations are set up differently and feel more like a hotel or home.

"Convenient Location and Good Value"

We picked Towne Centre because it's close and affordable. We heard good things from friends who've been here. His room met his needs. Overall, it was nice and comfy, and I'd suggest it to others.

My wife and I feel really cozy.

"Mixed Experience with Assisted Living, Requires Close Monitoring"

You have to watch closely to make sure your loved one is being taken care of. We don't use their caregivers because we don't trust them. My sister and I visit every day. One evening, when we visited my uncle in memory care, there was no one to let us out. They cleaned my grandmother's room once, and things went missing. My grandmother was told she could apply for VA benefits, but the person who was supposed to help us wanted a donation. He stopped working on it when we didn't give the donation and wouldn't give us the password for the application. His name is still being given out by the community. The residents are wonderful and the place is clean.

"Cleanliness Varies Based on Financial Status"

I visited this place for my parent. In the part for folks without much money, it smelled like pee. If you're well-off, they put in the effort to tidy up.

"Terrible Assisted Living Experience: Abuse, Neglect, and a Tragic Loss"

I honestly wish I could rate them a zero. My dad lived in the assisted living community and was mistreated by the staff. I've got images from the emergency room that I would share, if I could. His whole body was a canvas of unexplainable bruises, none of which was accounted for in their reports. My dad was independent enough to climb two stair flights and roam about using a cane when he first moved in. They never encouraged him to exercise despite his diagnosis of Parkinson's disease. Sadly, within a month, he was bound to a wheelchair, and he constantly wore wet diapers. They transported him to the ER claiming he needed a "psychological evaluation" after he shoved a caregiver twice. But the ER doctor confided in me that they just wanted him out of there. Yes, there were a few kind nurses, but most were indifferent to the residents and simply lazy. When I asked for his medical records, they told me I had to wait several days. But I insisted on being there as they compiled them, not willing to risk any alterations. To that, one particularly indifferent newcomer nurse threatened to call the cops on me. Sadly, my dad passed away within three months of moving in there. Even though it's been over a year, I can't forgive myself for my poor decision on his final days. This ghastly place should be closed.

"Accommodations Delight Despite Missing Services"

While some expected services are missing, she’s happy with the accommodations. The kitchen isn’t her favorite, but she rarely uses it since she has her own. Plus, there are plenty of activities.

"Top Choice for Mom at The Meadows Memory Care"

We checked out a bunch of places and liked them all, but The Meadows Memory Care seemed like the best choice for my mom. It's part of Towne Centre Senior Living Option. Thanks for helping us find her new home!

"Towne Centre Memory Care Merrillville Indiana"

Just remodeled Towne Center Memory Care in Merrillville, Indiana offers spacious rooms with living areas, a bedroom, walk-in closet, and a well-equipped dinette. While the staff is friendly, more aides or nurses are needed. The transition from nursing home care has been challenging, but the RN director, Nancy, has been helpful. The food is decent, and a new activities director aims to engage residents. Despite difficulties, the staff strives to ease the transition for families.

"Memory Care Facility - Great Staff, Clean, Needs TV Upgrade"

My dad is in the new memory care facility. The nurses are great and really care about the patients. The place is very clean and new. He's only been there a couple of months, but it's been fantastic for him. The only downside is the TV situation. They're working on getting satellite TV.

"Warm Welcome, Limited Care"

I visited this place, and it was super clean and bright. The staff made us feel welcome during the tour. However, they didn’t have enough memory care for my loved one.

"A Positive Transition"

So far, Towne Center has been a great choice for my mom. Everyone there is super helpful and goes out of their way to make sure she adjusts well to her new home.

"Mom Wants More Church Activities at Assisted Living"

They have some activities, but my mom wants more church events. They offer bingo, therapy, and a pool table. The community is clean, and the staff is okay. We've had great caregivers and a few issues. Management resolves problems quickly.

"Great care, good food, and a clean place to live!"

Mom moved into this place for assisted living after a fall, but now she’s doing great in independent living. The food is okay, and she’s even put on some weight. The staff are encouraging her to join more activities. I would recommend this place it’s clean and well-maintained.

"Lovely Place with Attentive Staff and Clean Facilities"

Towne Centre is a lovely place that feels like a charming old hotel with its cozy decorations. The staff is caring and always ready to help, and the facility is kept very clean. They make sure residents are part of everything happening there, which is wonderful.

"Smooth sailing at the assisted living facility"

The assisted living place is good for now. No big problems yet. We're happy with them for now.

"Mixed Review of Towne Center Assisted Living Experience"

The folks running Towne Center Assisted Living have shown kindness and professionalism. It's pleasant to interact with most of the nurses and certified nurse's aides too. They've been helpful and receptive to my needs and concerns. But, seriously, their resident call system is old and ineffective. It's critical for their line of work to have a reliable and quick-response system. Sadly, my loved one has had to wait long periods- up to two hours, just to use the bathroom or go to bed. It's not okay. Plus, it looks like they do not have enough staff. Also, the residents' hallway often smells heavily of urine, which isn't pleasant. If I had known these things before, I might have selected another place. To be honest, these issues have led to a lot of stress for me, leaving me quite upset.

"Not the assisted living atmosphere we wanted."

This felt too much like a nursing home, not our preference.

"Clean and friendly assisted living option with security concerns"

We checked out this place while considering care for my family member. It looked nice and is still on my list if our first choice doesn’t work. The staff were super nice and the place was really clean. We wanted to make sure our family member was in a safe place, and it seemed like they could offer that here. But we found another place we think might be even better for her.

"Dissatisfied with the rehabilitation and assisted living sections here"

My family member was here for a short time for rehab, and we were not satisfied with the care they received. The staff kept them in a wheelchair all the time. How is someone supposed to improve and recover if they're always just sitting? We also checked out the assisted living section and didn't like that too. More people just sitting around not busy with anything.

"No Extra Cost for Help; 24-Hour Nurse"

This place is great! There's no extra cost for help. They have a nurse available 24 hours a day, and you can get rehab here too.
