"Aberdeen Village: Pleasant Tour, Small Rooms, Higher Cost"
The Aberdeen Village tour was pleasant, but the rooms were too small for our loved one. The cost was higher than another nearby community.

"Community Lockdown Restricts Visits, Not Recommended"
The community is on lockdown, so you can't visit right now. I wouldn't recommend this place.

"Aberdeen Village Staff Offers Outstanding Assistance for Senior Move"
The staff at Aberdeen Village, especially [name removed], have been super supportive while getting my folks ready for their move from their house to a place for seniors.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
The kitchen in the picture looks nice, but my mom's isn't updated. Her bathroom has old linoleum. Wait until your apartment is satisfactory. Read the fine print about money return. Moving to a better location or an updated apartment is difficult. Security is a concern; doors are often unlocked. Staff isn't adequately trained in handling issues or treating residents respectfully. Dining and custodial staff are great, but management doesn't promptly return calls.

"Watch Out: Assisted Living Facility with Lingering Issues"
The kitchen picture on their website is misleading - they’re not all updated like that. My mom's kitchen looks pretty old and original to the building. And the bathrooms? They still have old, white linoleum floors. I suggest not moving in until every corner of the apartment pleases you. Also, familiarize yourself with the fine print to know when you'll get your money back after moving out. If you desire to move to a better or updated apartment within the facility, it’s quite a hassle. You're basically trapped. Security is questionable since the doors aren't always locked, even at night. The on-call staff aren't well-trained to handle various situations, or in giving residents and guests the respect they deserve. On the bright side, the dining room staff and custodians are great. However, management leaves a lot to be desired as they tend to delay returning phone calls.

"Poor Management and Staffing An Issue at Assisted Living Facility"
Experiences at Assisted Living Facility Leave Much to be Desired" Being straightforward, my elderly mom, 94, was denied her own sleep schedule, even after my dad passed away. She was made to wait all because they didn't have enough staff. Within two weeks of moving in, my dad disappeared from the facility. Despite his wander guard, the staff at Aberdeen were unable to locate him. Instead, it was the police who found him at a nearby Quick Trip. The management dismissed it, stating that he was "too fast" at age 90. Their neglect seemed more prevalent to me. The interim nurse blamed us, claiming that we brought in a wandering resident, which simply wasn't true. I repeatedly saw Aberdeen deny accountability for their apparent faults. The one time they admitted guilt was when my dad was found sat in his own filth for seven hours. While there were some kind aides, there were too few. Medication was often forgotten in my mom's room. I even discovered my dad all alone in a dark room, staring at a blank door for over an hour. He was unable to walk or talk and was in hospice care at the time. When I approached management about this, their response was highly unsatisfactory. As a retired speech pathologist with video evidence, I can't recommend this place. The high number of temporary agency nurses is a red flag - something is clearly going wrong.

"Daughter Exposing Disturbing Elder Care Negligence"
Straightforward Facts My elderly mom, who's 94, was denied her bedtime when she wished to sleep, even in the wake of my dad's passing. She had to wait since they didn't have enough personnel to assist her. My dad, in his first two weeks there, managed to leave the building even while wearing a wander guard. It was not Aberdeen who found him, but rather the police, who located him at Quick Trip. The management claimed he was "too fast," but he was 90 years old! I think they were too sluggish. There was also an interim nurse who placed the blame on my mom and me, claiming we brought in a wanderer. This was untrue. Aberdeen repeatedly avoided accountability for mistakes clearly on their end. The single time they accepted responsibility was when my father was found in a horrifying state, sitting amidst seven hours' worth of fecal matter. Reflect on that. Sure, there are some genuinely kind helpers, but their numbers fall short. Plus, there were occasions when medicine was left unattended in my mother's room. I once found my dad sitting in a dark room for over an hour, staring at a blank door. He was unable to walk or talk and was under hospice care. When I brought these issues to management, their response was disheartening. I even showed them a video I had recorded. As a retired speech pathologist, it saddens me to say this, but I cannot endorse this place. There are just too many agency nurses. Ask yourself, why might that be?'
