"Assisted Living Facility Review"
My relative stayed during a big change from Bickford to Trustwell. The new director was hard to reach and didn’t explain changes well. I missed important emails and only found out through the nurse and old associate director. My relative passed away [date removed] and we just got a refund for July’s care she never got. Others had billing issues too. Their rooms weren’t always clean, with food crumbs left for days. Unless they improve communication, cleanliness, and billing, I wouldn’t suggest this place.

"Excellent Communication and Care at Bickford of Overland Park"
We picked Bickford of Overland Park because the staff we talked to on the phone were great. They've been really good at keeping us informed about everything. Considering everything that's happening, they're doing a really good job. I would suggest them to others who are looking.

"Mixed Experience at Bickford of Overland Park Assisted Living"
Yesterday, I visited Bickford of Overland Park. I liked that it's a small facility with 48 assisted living apartments. There weren't many residents around, but we popped into a game upstairs. Everyone seemed relaxed and having fun. The staff showed us the respite area, which was clean, well-equipped, and had comfortable furniture. The room we saw was far from the nurse's station, though. The menu looked healthy and had a variety of options. We didn't have a full meal but were offered a light snack of cheese, sausage, grapes, strawberries, and chocolate cupcakes. I thought we were having lunch too, but there might have been a miscommunication. [Name removed] did a good job explaining things both verbally and in writing. I learned that the daily fee for residents in the respite program is $125, but the overall cost depends on the level of care needed. We're keeping our options open until we've toured other places.

"Assisted Living Facility Falls Short on Cleanliness and Care"
Well...the staff seems nice, but my mom isn't clean enough. I don't think they brush her teeth or shower her every day like they said they would. I'm not sure they're doing her laundry either. Sometimes when we pick her up, she's not ready and still dirty. They fix things when we complain, but it doesn't last long. It seems like they go back to how they were before.

"Disappointing Service at High-Cost Assisted Living Facility"
This facility seriously lacks enough staff. They make promises they can't keep. While they do have a few loyal employees, there just aren't enough to cater to everyone's needs. Nobody ever answers the phone, especially on weekends. Also, the hallways often had an unpleasant odor of urine. Considering the high amount you pay, they should provide better service. The food, despite being advertised as home-cooked, never seemed to be so. They tend to serve the same dishes repetitively, which were typically cold and took a long time to serve. I'd suggest considering other options first as the service doesn't justify the cost. Ensure you speak to the current residents before making a decision, they gave valuable insight once I moved in.

"Promises Unmet at Bickford, Care Below Expectations"
My aunt stayed at Bickford for a short break of 30 days. She was getting better from a car accident and needed to build up her strength after spending 12 weeks in skilled nursing. We thought she might stay at Bickford for about half a year, but she didn’t like it there. She worked on her rehab and got strong enough to live on her own again. They told her she’d get a lot of help, but she ended up really let down and felt tricked. I don’t think they could give her the care she needed for her injuries. Like, she wasn’t supposed to stand up by herself, but the regular staff thought she was okay to, even though the rehab experts said she wasn’t. We had to keep a close eye on her because we were worried about her being there alone. There were also some problems with her medicine that made us all stressed. This place might be okay if your family member can do most things by themselves, but I wouldn’t say it’s good if they need a lot of help.

"Assisted Living Tour Reveals Welcoming Community"
I took a tour of this place and it's really nice. Everyone was friendly and nice. The community looks great and everything is neat and tidy. The staff I met was polite and helpful. Overall, it was a good experience, but they don't have any openings right now.

"Friendly Community but Limited One-Bedrooms"
Bickford of Overland Park was a nice place to live. We didn't pick it because they mostly had studio apartments, and we wanted a one-bedroom. Everyone was really friendly, though, and we had a good time there.

"Bickford Pressures for Deposit, Delays Refund: Not Good Business"
My mom didn't pick Bickford because of where it's located. They rushed us to make a fast deposit, which we actually ended up returning the same day. When I asked for the deposit back, they promised they would return the cash promptly. However, weeks later, someone else from Bickford called to tell me it would take 1-2 months to get the refund. This isn't good business behavior...
