"Awful Staff Treatment and Poor Conditions at Assisted Living Home"
Staff keeps switching up, the rooms are dull and they don't clean it often enough, especially the laundry section is a mess. The activities they've got are barely fine. Honestly, the staff doesn't know how to handle older folks. A worker from the food court messed with the person I pay for at this place. They moved the person to a place that looked more like a state prison, and I had to go get him out. They never told me about any punishment for the worker who was mean. Instead of being nice and cleaning around the elder, they told my 89-year-old person to move. Totally not cool—if you care about your loved one, don't send them here.

"Tragedy at Brookdale: Inadequate Care and Disregard for Contractual Obligations"
Beware of The Fine Print: I'm penning down this review from my Dad's Hospice room. My Dad was living at Brookdale in Overland Park when he had an unfortunate fall in his room. It was a series of blunders on their part: they disregarded our instruction to use anti-slip socks, forced us to use their beds with no sidebars, changed the orientation of his room, and the slick room floors didn't help either. This fall resulted in a broken leg for my Dad, from which he hasn't recovered after surgery. I paused my caregiving duties for a day to move his items out of Brookdale's room. After personally informing them about my Dad's predicament, I returned to spend his last few hours. But, to my surprise, Brookdale's Administration contacted me, even in these trying times, stating that I failed to provide a written 30-day move-out notice as per the contract.

"Narrow Hallways and Limited Assistance: Not Ideal for Complex Needs"
I visited Brookdale Overland Park and noticed narrow hallways. My dad uses an electric chair, so it'd be hard for him to move around. The apartments were nice, with an outdoor living area. We chose another community because Brookdale wasn't suitable; he needed more assistance than they could offer.

"Negligent care, poor food, and thin walls in this facility."
Avoid this assisted living center at all costs!!! Their meals are awful, lacking fresh fruits, green veggies, and flavor, and no one appears bothered by it. The walls are so thin, you'd hear your neighbor's every gag or vomit, no matter the time of the day. If you ask for aid with any equipment brought for your usage, no one seems to know how to setup and no one tries to find someone who can. Hard to find anyone who takes your concerns to heart at this facility.

"Inconsistent Medication Timing - Mixed Experience at Rehab Facility"
I stayed at the rehab facility on 11900 Lamar for three weeks after my back surgery, and I have mixed feelings about it. Let me explain. First, let's talk about the night shift nursing staff. They were amazing at giving me my medications promptly, usually within 5 minutes of when they were due. I rarely needed to call for a nurse. However, the day shift staff was the opposite. Most of the time, my medication arrived 15 minutes late, and sometimes it was even 30 minutes to an hour late. Once, I had to wait for 30 minutes and then went to find the nurse myself. When I did, she said, "Don't count on getting it." I don't understand why they're strict about not giving medication a few minutes early but okay with being late. In conclusion, if you don't need medication, it's fine, but if you do, you might want to rely on the night staff.

"Assisted Living Review: Quiet Environment, Clean Facilities, Few Activities"
During my visit to Brookdale Overland Park, I noticed a lack of activities and staff-resident interaction. It didn't meet our expectations, but the place was clean and well-maintained.

"Unacceptable Care at Brookdale: Neglect, Lost Items and Injuries"
My parent got awful treatment at Brookdale. They didn't bathe my mom for nearly two weeks. They even managed to lose - likely tossed out - her hearing aid, which set us back about $2500. My mom fell down two times and got hurt. She ended up worse than before from her stay there.

The maintenance workers at the facility really knew their stuff, and all the construction work looked to be done properly.

"Brookdale Facilities: Just Okay"
We toured several Brookdale locations while exploring options in the area. They all seemed pretty similar. Nothing was terrible, but nothing was especially impressive either. Overall, they were just okay.
