"Mixed Experience at Glenwood Assisted Living"
We took my mom to Glenwood a month after I visited, and we liked her room and the staff. Our issue was that Mom started declining quickly and needed more care. I would suggest considering Glenwood if your family member needs some help and can't manage at home anymore. However, if your family member is deteriorating rapidly, Glenwood might not be the best choice. Every situation is different, so I'm not sure how helpful my review will be, but the staff are really nice. Amy, who runs the place, is great, easy to talk to, and always willing to help. Unfortunately, Mom's dementia progressed so fast that within a month of moving in, we realized she needed a more intensive facility. Glenwood did what they could, but sometimes things just don't work out.

"Limited Flooring Options and Inaccessible Showers at Glenwood Village"
I visited Glenwood Village of Overland Park and noticed they had a lot of carpet. The rooms were on the second floor, which bothered me because my loved one would need to use the elevator for everything. Unfortunately, there was no option for different flooring. The showers weren't as accessible as the community we ultimately chose.

"Friendly staff and activities though loved one doesn't join."
This place has been really helpful for my loved one. There are lots of things to do here, but my loved one doesn't join in. The staff are always nice to both me and my loved one.

"Confusing Layout!"
This Brookdale was my second pick. It was tidy and everyone was nice. We didn't choose it because of the layout. It wasn't the usual L-shape or multiple stories. I worried my mom might get lost.

"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living Facility"
The staff was really nice and spent a lot of time discussing my parents’ needs. The room wasn’t what I expected—it had two bathrooms but only one bedroom. I felt a bit disappointed. The place seemed a little worn, but it didn’t smell bad. Unfortunately, there wasn’t a proper workout room; just a cycle in a TV room. The library had very few books. On the positive side, the Executive Director and Marketing Director were caring. Overall, it’s a place for loved ones, but I’m still searching for a two-bedroom option.

"Liked the facility but chose a closer one"
We visited here while considering options. We liked it, but I chose a place nearer. I doubt they could've provided the care we needed, despite their assurances. Later, I found out only one place in the area could've met our needs.

"Limited security and outdoor space, lack of service"
When I went to check out the place, I noticed there wasn't any security. Plus, there was nobody at the front desk to assist me or give me a tour. Even after waiting for a bit, no one came, so I had to leave. I'm not inclined to look more into a place lacking security. Another downside was the limited outdoor space for residents to relax.

"Attentive and Supportive Care Staff"
The assisted living facility has been doing a good job figuring out what my mom needs. We recently had her one-month review to check on things and discuss what they and we have noticed. They're always there if we have any problems or questions, and they've been really helpful.

"A Great Move to Assisted Living with Excellent Care"
My mom moved from an independent living place to an assisted living community as her dementia got a bit worse. She had some episodes of wandering and confusion, especially in the late afternoon and evening. While she can still take care of herself, I worried about her safety during these forgetful times. This community has met all of her needs. She’s being looked after by certified nursing assistants and has adjusted well. She even asked me to hang her pictures, showing she feels at home. She’s very active and participates in all the weekly activities. The building is cozy, nicely decorated, and has no bad smells. The staff are friendly and supportive, and my mom loves the physical therapy they offer. The food is great, and the dining staff remember her preferences, even ordering green tea just for her. Medical professionals visit almost every day, and there’s a podiatrist who comes monthly and bills Medicare for foot and nail care. Overall, my mom and I are very happy with her new home and hope she’ll be there for a long time.

"There's Room for Improvement"
This was a short stay for a break. When I look back, I wasn't exactly happy with how things were handled. It took more than a month to get a refund. They didn't really clean the room while we were there. Some things definitely needed improvement, although the place looks nice when you walk in. The staff were friendly, but the food portions were small. Response time was slow when we needed assistance. Unfortunately, the activities they offered weren't ideal for my loved one.

"Good Place for Dad, Some Staffing and Food Concerns"
Dad's happy here overall. We thought there'd be more helpers, but he's fine. Food's not great, and I'm worried about nutrition. People are friendly and try to help, keeping Dad busy.

"Clean, Friendly, and Affordable"
She's happy and always doing something when I visit. She's made friends but isn't quite feeling at home yet. It's the only place with no dirt or smells, and it's very clean. We love the staff and get constant updates on how she's doing. It's affordable for people paying out of pocket and one of the best places in the area. We looked at a more expensive place, but this was a better fit. She loves the food, and it's never come cold. We are very happy with them.

"Mixed Experience, Friends Love It"
We tried their respite services, mainly in the memory care section. Some staff bothered him, and there were unhappy days. The memory care was adapted but not specifically designed for it. Our friends love it here, but it wasn’t the best fit for us.

"Swift Solutions Assisted Living"
The only problem was with the people who handle marketing and sales. They gave us wrong information and there was a lot of confusion before we moved in. On moving day, things went really wrong because that department messed up completely. But when we told the facility director what happened, they fixed everything quickly.

"Nice looking, but not a good fit for Dad"
We visited while considering memory care for Dad. The facility looked nice, but it wasn't right for him. It was larger than we wanted, and I worried he could get lost with his memory issues. The price could double as care needs increased.

"Increasing Costs and Declining Care at Assisted Living Facility"
Managing the assisted living facility was a bit overwhelming due to their various rates for room, medication, and care. Every time I looked, the rates kept going up but the quality of care was declining. There were too many times when she was left alone, which made her unhappy. All she did was watch TV and slip out unnoticed because she was quite crafty. My sister didn't want our cousin to be placed in a nursing home, yet we were threatened with the requirement of 24/7 surveillance. We felt uneasy with her there. The institution allowed her to skip meals but charged $6 extra to serve her food in her room later. It seemed like they found this arrangement easier. The consequences were unfavorable as she grew weaker and spent more time asleep. Essentially, she was just lingering in a state of negativity.

"Great Activities and Friendly Staff - We're Very Happy"
Whenever I visit my dad, his apartment and the dining room are clean. The staff is very friendly. I think it's a good value, though it's the only place he's been. It gives us peace of mind. He doesn’t have an odor anymore and is gaining weight. On weekends, they try to get him involved in activities, which he wasn't doing before. The activities are diverse, with exercise every day and Wii games for movement. We've been very happy with it.

"Great community, good adjustment, but price will increase"
Our loved one enjoys the community at Freedom. They're adjusting well, eating well, and getting along with both staff and residents. We got a discount for a limited time. With the discount, we pay around $2,500 a month for a studio with extra care services. After the discount ends, the price will increase.

"Great location and good meals at Freedom Pointe"
Our experience at Freedom Pointe Overland Park has been very good. We chose Freedom Pointe mainly because of its location. I've visited several times and eaten a few meals here. On a scale of one to five, I’d rate the meals a four. I’d recommend Freedom Pointe to others looking for a good place for their loved ones.

"Nice Place, Some Dining Concerns"
It's a very nice facility. It looked clean, and the staff was very friendly. It's not as nice as Sunrise, but it costs less. The location is okay but not as good as Sunrise. The big issue is the dining. They have a separate dining area for patients who need help eating. It's only made for four people, and they'd have to squeeze Mom in unless we think she can feed herself. All of us kids don't like this idea. They are connected to Sweet Life Nursing home if Mom needs more care later.
