"Abysmal care at Homestead Facilities - unattended residents and poor communication"
My mom has been living there since 2012. Everything was great during the first 5-6 years, but then the standard declined. The past year has been truly disappointing. They've been understaffed, there's been no proper cleaning and the laundry service has been subpar. The food quality has dipped too and there is a high staff turnover, including nurses and directors. On top of all this, the management chose to close for renovations during the pandemic! All residents, including my mom, were moved to other Homestead facilities. The moving process was chaotic, disorganized and full of lies. My mother's belongings were just haphazardly packed, some of her stuff was even broken and lost during the move and nobody cared. Mom was relocated to Homestead of Lenexa and it's probably even worse. Shower times are neglected or residents are left unattended during showers. There have been issues with medication administration. There's zero communication from the facility. My mom even fell out of her wheelchair once because no one put her necessary brace on and she ended up in the ER. They still haven't put that brace on her! I've been trying to contact them but all my emails go unanswered. My advice is to avoid any Homestead facility!

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
In the assisted living community, there were a few hiccups, like the cable not working for my loved one. The paperwork process needs improvement, and the administration side was terrible—they didn't have all the notes for my loved ones. Plus, they changed managers within the first 30 days of my loved one's move-in.

"Assisted Living Facility Shows Improvement with New Leadership and Activities"
My mom has been living at Homestead since [date removed]. We liked that it's a small community with a warm family feel. Over the years, there were issues like turnover and cleanliness problems. Laundry and food were problems too! Many staff we loved left and residents moved out. But my mom likes it here, and every place has issues. What's different about Homestead is they know their problems and are trying to fix them. Recently, we got a new LOCAL Vice President who is experienced and involved. We formed a family council and she joins our meetings, unlike other places. She's achieved more than anyone in years! She brought back great former employees and hired a new chef. They're improving the menu with fresh soup daily and a waffle and omelet station. Renovations start in spring to update the facility. Finally, we're heading in the right direction! Don't rule this place out for your loved one. The activities director deserves 5 stars! She's amazing. They have a new van for outings, lunch bunch, and more activities. I believe Homestead will be better than ever, with a waiting list to get in.

"Homestead Improving with New Leadership and Great Activities"
My mom has been at Homestead since 2012, and we really liked that it was a small, friendly place. Over the years, we’ve had some problems, like a lot of staff changes, cleanliness issues, and problems with laundry and food. Many of the staff we liked left, and a few residents moved away. Despite these problems, we stayed because my mom enjoys being there, and every place has issues. What sets Homestead apart is that they are aware of these issues and are working to fix them. Recently, we got a new Regional Vice President who is local and very experienced. She’s been actively involved and even attends our family council meetings, which other places don’t do. She’s made more progress in the last few months than anyone has in years! She’s brought back some great former staff members and hired a new chef. They’re updating the menu to include more choices like fresh soup of the day, a waffle station, and an omelet station. They also plan to start renovations in the spring to update the facility. We’re finally seeing positive changes! I highly recommend Homestead for your loved one. The activities director deserves a 5-star rating! She’s fantastic, and they now have a new van for outings, lunch bunch, and many other activities. I believe Homestead is on the right track and will become even better, with a waiting list to get in.

"Staffing turnover, unhealthy food, limited transportation; director praised."
The place has had lots of different staff changes lately. The food they serve isn't really good for your heart or your stomach. Just the other day, they had pizza, Polish sausage, and sandwiches for dinner. The only other options were a hot dog, hamburger, or chicken if they even had it. They use a machine wrist cuff to check your blood pressure. The person in charge is nice, but they seem like they have too much to do. Also, there's no transportation available to get around to different places.

"Desperate Conditions during Power Outage Highlight Facility's Negligence"
During a power outage, this place had no auxiliary power to assist residents who rely on oxygen! Absolutely no emergency strategy was prepared and to add to the chaos, the person in charge abandoned the facility during the disaster!!! It's not safe to send your loved ones here. There are not sufficient staff to attend to the residents. Their only response is that they lack funds for everything!!!

"Friendly Staff and Cozy Courtyard!"
My dad is doing great since moving here. He's in a wheelchair, so participating in activities is a bit tough, but he's making friends. The food isn't his favorite, but the staff is nice and attentive. They also have a pleasant courtyard for cooler weather.

"Friendly Assisted Living with Great Staff and Clean Environment"
They are very helpful and have a positive attitude. They genuinely care about the people who live there. The place is always clean and the staff is really nice. I can't think of anything negative to say about them. It's a good place for the money.
