"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
My loved one has a few concerns about this assisted living facility. If you miss mealtimes, they're not very flexible. While there's food available, being even a few minutes late could mean missing a hot meal. On the positive side, my loved one enjoys the activities, although some aren't fully accessible for differently abled individuals. The staff is responsive when I bring up concerns, and the facility always looks beautiful.

"Understaffed and undercaring; medical and food issues persist."
I've been here for about 6 months. At first, it seemed okay, but then things went downhill. Once, I didn't get my medications for 3 days. I really need them every day. They didn't even apologize. If you're sick and need to stay in your room, it's hard to get food. There's no registered nurse, only LPNs and CNAs. No transportation, you're on your own. The oven hasn't worked in 5 months, and it took 2 weeks to fix the ice machine. They're understaffed, and people keep leaving for better jobs. The food isn't great, sometimes it's just a half sandwich and a few Cheetos for dinner. The parent company is cheap, all the food comes frozen, like the ones in Banquet dinners. People here aren't getting much medical care. They make mistakes with medicine. I can catch them, but most don't.

"Unskilled Staff and Poor Services at Assisted Living Facility"
This place isn't safe for those suffering from dementia. They simply don't have enough skilled staff to provide the proper care. My dear one barely gets a regular bath. The quality of their meals? It's no better than the food at an elementary school, perhaps even worse.

"Disappointed, Facility Didn't Feel Right For Our Family"
We were pretty disappointed with this place. It didn't seem like the right fit for our family member. It just didn't feel right.

"Disappointing Experience at Homestead of Lenexa Assisted Living"
We visited Homestead of Lenexa and it felt old and worn-out compared to other places we saw. The room they showed us wasn't very tidy, and the one they planned to assign was in poor condition, with no plans to improve it. We initially considered this facility because they accept Medicaid.

""Avoid This Facility: Neglect, Incompetence, and Falsehoods""
My mom was shifted here after Homestead of Leawood started renovation during the pandemic. Sadly, things here are worse. I'd advise you to avoid the irritation and not place your loved one here. The staff have forgotten her showers, mixed up her medication, and spoke rudely to her. My mother fell from her wheelchair, partly because she wasn't wearing her leg brace and was sitting on a pillow since her cushion was misplaced. Despite her falls, nothing was done about her brace and her second accident landed her in the hospital. They won't listen to me about her brace. They're not truthful. No one seems to care, least of all those in charge. It's heartbreaking, unkind, and against the law.' .

"Check Elsewhere for Better Care"
We checked out this place for care. My dad didn't really like the vibe of the rooms. It wasn't his style. We were bummed we didn't get to see any menus. They do have fun stuff to do for those interested though. We'd recommend checking this place out before deciding where to place a family member.

"Caring staff, good food, many activities at Homestead of Lenexa"
My mom had to leave for a short hospital stay after being here just 2 weeks. Now she's settling back in, and I think it will work out. The staff is very caring and friendly. It's a smaller community, so they can quickly help her when needed. I've had lunch with my mom a few times, and the food is very good. They offer substitute choices if you don't like what's served. There are lots of activities, and the staff will knock on residents' doors to encourage them to join in. My mom and I recently went to a lemonade party they organized. I'm very satisfied that my mom is well cared for at Homestead of Lenexa.

"Very Homey"
My mom had to go to the hospital briefly after being here for only 2 weeks. Now she’s settling back in, and I think it’ll be okay. The staff is really nice and caring. It’s a smaller community, so they can quickly help her when needed. I’ve had lunch with my mom a few times, and the food is great. If you don’t like what’s served, they offer other options. There are lots of activities, and the staff encourages residents to participate. Recently, my mom and I went to a lemonade party they organized. I’m very happy with how well they’re taking care of Mom at Homestead of Lenexa.

"Avoid Like the Plague: Tragic Death Due to Medication Error"
This place is awful for your family members. My grandma was there for just 2 weeks before she left us all of a sudden, most likely because of a medicine mistake.

"Nice facility, clean, friendly staff, and personalized resident care."
Overall, our experience with Homestead of Lenexa has been very positive! It’s a nice-looking facility, always clean and well-maintained. The staff are all very friendly. From what I’ve seen, they do a great job getting to know each resident, learning their likes and dislikes to make everyone feel comfortable and at home.

"Roomy, Good Care, But Bad Food"
My loved one stayed at this community for a while. Overall, things were okay, but it wasn't right for a long-term stay. The rooms were nice and bigger than many others we checked out for the same price. I thought the care staff, including the nurse and CNAs, did a great job, but my loved one said they could have been more attentive. One problem we had was that the director didn't respond well to feedback. They didn't acknowledge issues or follow up on them. The biggest problem, though, was the food. It was really bad. My loved one loves good food, and there was nothing here to look forward to. I tried the food a few times, and it was really not acceptable.

"Mixed Experience: Spacious Rooms, Caring Staff, Poor Food Quality"
My family member stayed at this community for a while, and overall, things were okay, but it didn't end up being a permanent solution. The rooms were nice, more spacious than others we saw for the same price. The care staff, including the nurse and CNAs, did a great job (though my family member thought they could be more attentive). One problem was that the director wasn't very responsive to feedback; they didn't acknowledge issues or follow through. However, what really made us leave was the food. It just wasn't good. Food was something my family member really enjoyed, and here, he felt like he had nothing to look forward to. I tried it myself a few times, and it really wasn't acceptable.

Noticed differences between assisted and independent living. They was a great help. However, it's located by a cemetery.

"Dull Decor and Dim Lighting"
We didn't like the decor. We thought it was not very cheery, bright, or open. The rooms were also not as cheery. Overall, it didn't seem as clean. Part of that was because it wasn't well lit. The whole place felt darker.

"Lacking Cheer and Brightness"
The place didn't look nice. It wasn't happy, bright, or open. The rooms weren't cheerful either. It didn't seem very clean. It was dark because of the lighting. It just felt gloomy overall.

"Assisted living far, not cozy, owner's story unsettling."
The assisted living place was too far away, and it didn't feel cozy like home to me. The owner was nice, but hearing her life story made me feel uneasy. I worried about what would happen to the place if she left again.

"Affordable, attentive care with good location and on-site amenities."
This place is in a great location. It's smaller, so there's more hands-on care. The residents are mostly elderly and the building is a bit old compared to others. The owner knows a lot about what Mom needs and how to take care of her, so I'm not worried about her care. If Homstead can take Mom, it would be her permanent home; she wouldn't need to go to a nursing facility because of her health. They'll also accept her once her money runs out and Medicaid kicks in. The dining area is mainly for the residents, and they have a hair salon on-site, which is nice. There are some nice outdoor spaces too. There aren't many activity rooms, but the one-bedroom has more space than others I've seen, except for the suite one-bedroom at Sunrise. This facility costs less and is more affordable for Mom, so I'm not worried about her being asked to leave.
