"Avoid: Staff Uncaring and Unqualified in Assisted Living Facility"

This place says they're ready for long term care patients and those on Medicaid. But, if you care about your family member at all, go somewhere else. The staff here don't know how to take care of those who need help. If your loved one can handle their own needs, they might be okay. But if they need any sort of help, they're out of luck. This place can't move patients the right way and they don't know how to act around the elderly or those that need help. I can't figure out how they got certified. When the state government comes to check for problems, they're bound to find a ton. Don't even consider this place - keep looking for somewhere better.

"Poor communication and unprofessional care at this facility."

I wouldn't advise choosing this place unless you can handle all your own needs. The employees seemed to try their hardest, but they always whined about having too many folks to care for. They hardly ever spoke to my dad and didn't seem to know how to properly look after their patients. I tried contacting the people in charge several times, but my messages were only met with silence, which was not what I had asked for.

"Awful Assisted Living Facility in Kansas Deserves License Revocation"

I really wish I had checked out these reviews before deciding to let my mom or dad stay at this place. This joint has got to be among the worst in all of Kansas. Nobody seems to respond to call lights or answer phone calls. It's like nobody has a clue what's happening, and those who are meant to be caring for the patients hardly have a handle on patient care. They don't even know the basics like how to move patients around. In my opinion, they should get their license taken away. The state really needs to check this place out, but because of Covid, they simply can't, and families aren't allowed to visit to see just how badly their loved ones are being treated and neglected. The staff here don't know the first thing about patient care - nursing students in their first semester could do a better job! If you love your family member even a little bit and care about their well-being, DO NOT LEAVE THEM HERE. The management is just as bad - if they were any good, they'd hire staff that actually knew what they were doing. If only I could report this place to get it shut down or fixed up, I would without hesitation. They charge way too much for what they offer. If a resident can't take care of themselves, they're not gonna make it in this facility.

"Assisted Living Facility Falls Short in Communication and Responsiveness"

My dad's been at Health Care Resort since February. The nurses and therapists seem to care for him well. But, their communication is a total joke! With the COVID-19 crisis, you'd expect them to communicate more with families since we can't visit. But that's not the case! They don't call about medical changes until days later, and it's only when we call about something else. And good luck getting through to someone or getting a call back! I've been trying to transition my dad back home for in-home healthcare. I leave messages every day with social services, but I never get a call back. Very disappointing! Health Care Resort, I had high hopes, but you let me down!

"Hidden Negative Reviews-Take Caution Before Choosing This Place"

Uh-oh. The negative reviews are hidden. That's a sly move. If you're thinking about this place, make sure you find a way to read those reviews. Always do your homework before you decide to leave your family member here.

"Top-Notch Care and Service at Healthcare Resort of Leawood"

Healthcare Resort of Leawood did a great job taking care of my mom during a tough time. The place is super clean, the staff is really skilled, and the food is excellent. Laura made sure our family was well taken care of and helped make the move smooth. [Name removed] is also a fantastic manager. We’re all really thankful. It’s a 5-star experience.

"Unresponsive Staff and Overmedication at Assisted Living Home"

My mom didn't fare well at this place. She got really sick super quick and when we took her to the ER, she was so messed up on drugs she could barely talk. But a week in the hospital made her feel better. I thought the therapists were doing their job since they'd update me over the phone, so I don't know what went wrong. It was hard keeping in touch with mom. I'd call every few days but I could never get through. The nurse's desk never answered and mom seemed too confused to answer her own phone. One time, I let the phone ring at the nurse's station for 15 whole minutes and no one picked up. I'm really let down.

"Avoid This Facility - Poor Care and Untruthful Staff"

This place didn't take good care of my mom at all. They did not handle her gently when moving her from her bed to her chair. They even told me she had been bathed three times in one week, but she actually hadn't been washed at all! When I confronted them, they tried to say she was losing her memory and didn't remember being bathed, but that's not true! She wasn't kept clean and sat unwashed for more than a week. There are even more problems I could talk about. I beg you, don't send your family member here.

"Steer Clear of HC Resort; Beautiful Outside, Dangerously Incompetent Inside"

Stay away! HC Resort is really terrible if you require "proficient" nursing care. The number of nurses is very low, and the doctor is nowhere to be found. The assistants practically run the place and most of the time, they ignore needs, are tough, and impolite. While the outside is pretty, the inside is filled with unsafe incompetence.

"Unsatisfactory Care and Lack of Hygiene at Assisted Living Facility"

The therapists here are pretty good. But, honestly, there's no proper medical attention to speak of. The CNA's working at night are pretty tough and they don't seem to care much. There's hardly any nurses around, and I never saw a doctor. My mom went for more than a week without a bath here. Her health has really gone downhill since she's been here, and I'm so relieved we can move her to somewhere else. This joint might sound great when you read about it or hear the sales pitch, but don't fall for it.

"Incompetent Administration and Poor Care at Assisted Living Facility"

My mother-in-law transferred to this assisted living facility on July 28th after leaving the hospital with a broken hip and pelvis. Her care experience was poor with a caregiver to patient ratio of 25 to 1. I personally saw 5 calls for assistance that went unanswered for over 3 1/2 hours. She was in intense pain, yet they only gave her Tylenol, which was mind-boggling considering her condition and level of discomfort. The top boss and main financial guy were utterly unfriendly and clueless about insurance. We changed insurance coverage during her stay, and they insisted they only accepted Humana, which was entirely incorrect. I tried clarifying that our BCBS policy is accepted everywhere, contracted or not. After numerous calls involving BCBS, myself and the two unhelpful staffers, we left after just 16 days. The standard of care and food was simply appalling. I tried to explain to one particularly coarse employee that BCBS didn't need to have a contract because they reimburse based on standard costs in the region. I suspect her ignorance about insurance has turned away over 100 potential residents. Even after BCBS explained this to her in front of half a dozen people, she still doubted they could accept BCBS applicants. Two months later, I received a bill for her stay, which BCBS covered fully. When I called to discuss the bill with Ms. Know-it-all, she insisted she didn't need my help because she already "knew how to handle this." My attempt to point out that her understanding of the insurance acceptance had changed since BCBS paid our bill was met with rudeness. Her gratitude for my efforts seemed non-existent. Her response was just silence and a snarl. In conclusion, I wouldn't bring my family members here because they would likely argue about simple facts. Steer clear of this poorly managed facility. The negative reviews speak volumes. The corporate office needs to step in, implement some emotional and social intelligence testing to identify staff suitable for elder care. Such tests could help distinguish suitable employees. I hope Corporate in Dallas takes note, including you, Ms. High-and-Mighty. I'd be happy to help rectify the lack of competent healthcare executives capable of maintaining a friendly environment.

"Disastrous Care Experience at Leawood's HC Resort"

The health services at this community were not up to par. My mom was at HC Resort of Leawood for recovery care and was assigned a doctor who completely ignored our concerns and didn't even visit her room once during her 3-week stay. She worsened under this doctor and his unskilled nurse practitioner's care, which landed her in the hospital for almost a week. The few pleasant nurses there lack a competent Director to guide them towards solution finding and issue prevention. Astonishingly, despite all this, no one from HC Resort ever called to check on my mom's condition. It was only when we got to the hospital that we felt a sense of security, and we were relieved we didn't have to go back. It genuinely breaks my heart that such a place is trusted with the care of our dear ones. There's an urgent need for drastic improvements.

"Concerns raised over medical negligence at assisted living facility"

My family member briefly stayed at this assisted living facility for rehab. While their therapists did an admirable job, the quality of medical care was pretty disappointing. I was honestly worried for my family member as it seemed like nobody truly understood her condition or knew how to help her get better. One Saturday, I received a call from my family member, who can't move on her own, telling me she was uncomfortable with her head resting on the metal part of her medical bed. She had been calling for help but no one responded. I had to rush over there immediately.

"Poor Medical Care at Assisted Living Resort"

This place's physical and occupational therapists are awesome, but their medical treatment is really awful. I'd never let my family member go back to this health care resort because the doctor is always missing and never calls back. The nurse can't do her job properly, and the others aren't smart enough to solve problems and stop stuff from going wrong. My family member's health got worse after staying here, so I wouldn't advise going until they hire new workers to make the medical care as good as the therapy.

"Inadequate Living Spaces Lack Ramps and Basic Amenities"

I only had a chance to visit the spot. The rooms feature just one tiny, tiny closet. The fridge is awfully small without an ice maker. Plus, the movie room only has steps, there are no ramps. Certainly not a place I'd even consider.
