"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living Facility Tour"

The tour was okay, but not right for our loved one.

"Assisted Living Tour: Friendly Staff, Unsuitable for Loved One's Needs"

We had a really good tour at Ascension Living. Everyone who worked there was super nice and ready to help. But it wasn't right for what my loved one needed.

"Father-In-Law's Neglected Care at Wichita Assisted Living Facility"

Absolutely Do Not Recommend This Place!" My father-in-law has been staying at the Ridge Rd assisted living facility in Wichita, KS. In the three weeks he's been there, he's only had three showers. For the third one, we had to request it numerous times. Before his last shower, he was stuck in the same clothes for at least four days. Now, his headphones are broken, and due to visitation limitations, we can't bring him a new pair. The nurse on duty won't allow anyone to meet us at the door to take them either. We've encountered plenty of rudeness and irritation from the staff. Speaking as someone with experience as both a nurse and a certified nursing assistant, I can confidently say this place is not managed properly. I've ended up making my father-in-law's bed almost every day he's been there. I've had to call the facility early in the morning multiple times before someone would answer. The response I got was they were too busy to answer. Several times, we've had to call to request they check on him because he told us no one responded to his call light. Aside from a couple of aides and nurses on his unit, we are not satisfied. We don't feel that my father-in-law, or a few of the other residents who require more attention due to memory issues, are receiving the care they need and deserve. I will never recommend this facility, or any Via Christi facility, to anyone.

"Friendly Assisted Living with Budget-Friendly Options"

The tour at Via Christi Village Ridge was really nice. The staff was friendly and did a good job explaining what they could offer for our loved one. However, we ultimately chose a different community that fit our budget better.

" "Lack of Care and Professionalism at Rehab Facility""

Don't ever think about choosing this rehabilitation center for your loved ones! It's a place I would never recommend to anyone. Absolutely no sense of structure, no one overseeing the operations, and a staff that's incredibly disjointed. They failed to use a medical belt while moving a very frail patient. Nurses were overheard engaging in gossip right at their station - completely unprofessional. They kept a patient waiting after mealtime, simply stating that the aides were on lunch break. Ignoring the doctor's instructions, they neglected to remove a bandage off a surgical incision - only to say it’s not a big deal when reminded four days later. They failed to deliver the meal requested by the patient, only to inform later that the patient couldn't have it. Instead of offering an alternative, they kept silent! A bus ride scheduled for a doctor's appointment was arranged an hour later than the appointed time, causing unnecessary stress. An elderly, 83-year-old patient who had been off food due to difficulty in swallowing post-surgery was instructed to eat as much as she could after 12 days of no food or water – just ice cubes. The meal proposed: crispy fried chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy, and two glasses of milk, which led to five days of nausea. The hospital only provided her with medication for the nausea after the family expressly asked for it!

"Inadequate Care and Negligence Plague This Rehabilitation Facility!"

Absolutely Avoid This Rehabilitation Center! Unprofessional and Negligent!" Lines of communication and leadership seem nonexistent in this rehab center, with disconnected staff who don't seem to have any control. They avoided using a necessary medical belt to assist a very weak patient with movement. Instead of acting in a professional manner, nurse-staff engaged in inappropriate chatter. When a patient finished a meal and requested to be moved back to their room, they were told that the aides were on break and that they had to wait. Despite doctor's orders, the staff failed to remove a bandage from an incision. This was only corrected four days later when they were reminded, at which point they brushed it off as a non-issue. Moreover, when the patient asked for specific meals, rather than consult her on available options, they simply told her she couldn't have the requested food. Adding to the incompetence, a bus scheduled to take a patient to a doctor's appointment was set for an hour after the actual appointment! The patient, an 83-year-old woman who hadn't been able to eat for 12 days post-surgery due to swallowing issues, was advised by the RN to "Eat as much as you possibly can!" when she could finally consume food again. She was given a heavy meal of crispy fried chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy, and two glasses of milk. This led to five consecutive days of nausea until her family demanded nausea medication. It's simply unacceptable! Definitely not a reliable or respectable rehab facility. Recommend to no one!

"Limited socializing, nice facilities: 4 stars"

The place looks really nice! But I didn't see much chatting or hanging out among the workers or people living there. Also, there weren't too many activities available. Overall, it's okay.
