"Mixed Experience: Good Activities, Staff Availability an Issue"
This assisted living facility is pretty good, especially for those who are still quite independent. My mom's memory problems sometimes made it hard for her to locate her room. There were occasions when staff weren't available to assist her. While there are plenty of activities and outings, my mom wasn't able to participate due to her level of independence.

"Negligent Care and Payment Issues in Clean Assisted Living Facility"
My loved one never got a shower in the entire time she stayed at this assisted living place. I was always the one reaching into my own wallet, even though she had insurance for long-term care. The problem was, these people wouldn't send her diagnosis to the insurance company. They claimed she had dementia. Now, her caregivers were good people and she didn't have any complaints. The place was always neat and clean too.

"Assisted Living Tour Feedback"
The visit to Vitality Living Stony Brook was okay, but not ideal for my mom. The place was nice, but it didn't feel homey. They have help for living and memory care, but it seemed like assisted living got more attention than memory care.

"Not Quite Right for Our Loved One"
We toured the facility in person, and while the staff were helpful and polite, it didn’t meet our loved one’s needs.

"Assisted Living Community Improves Memory Care Activities with New Director"
They have a new director for memory care here, and they're really trying hard to make it good for people with memory issues like dementia and Alzheimer's. They're putting a lot of effort into creating a great atmosphere. They've got an activities director who tries to plan activities based on what's happening in the world. They recently had a Super Bowl party and other themed parties to match current events. They also offer puzzles and other activities that the residents enjoy.

"Great apartments, nice staff, and improved mental health!"
It's great that they have their own apartments in assisted living. They have a washing machine right in their apartments and their own outdoor areas. Housekeeping is included. The staff have been very nice to my loved one. Activities slowed down a bit because of Covid, but they are starting again. They've had a band come in, happy hours, and dancing. It took a while for her to get used to it, but she's adjusting. The cost is high, especially for different levels of care, but it's one of the more affordable places, especially since she gets a whole apartment instead of just a room. Her mental health has improved a lot since moving in. She doesn’t need much care now, but she gets the extra help she needs and has chances to be social. There are always people to talk to, and she can do as much or as little as she wants. That’s a big plus.

"Misplaced resident, uncooperative staff led to bad experience"
When I told them my loved one needed memory care, they placed her in assisted living instead. She didn't want to return, and I told them she was moving out. They insisted I needed to have it in writing. Because of this, I had to pay for roughly three months even though she was only there for a week. They weren't supportive or cooperative with us. Overall, our experience was negative. I wouldn't suggest this facility to anyone seeking quality care for their loved ones.

"Great Place for My Loved One"
All my ratings are from before COVID. The common areas and my loved one’s room are always clean when I visit. My loved one loves it here. The pandemic caused some staff changes. The senior living is better than we expected. My loved one has many friends among the residents and staff. I never worry about them being lonely.

"Caring staff and great community for my dad!"
My parent has been at Atria Stony Brook for a bit over a year. We chose this place because many things appealed to our family. The staff genuinely care about their residents. Being in a smaller independent living community has been great for my dad. From the staff who greet you at the entrance, to those who provide daily care, work in the dining area, and the Director, everyone is very professional and caring. The past 8 months have been tough due to state-wide restrictions, but the staff at Atria Stony Brook have been dedicated, responsive, and truly care about their residents and families. They focus on resident and family-centered care!
