"“Good Assisted Living for Parents”"

It’s a good place for my parents, but communication and care meetings need improvement. I recommend it; my parents are happy there.

"Mixed Experiences at Assisted Living, Found Better Option"

At first, my family member had to stay in the Memory Care Unit because there wasn’t room anywhere else. It was pretty wild there; folks would just walk into her room, take her stuff, and even use her bathroom when she was in it. One time, a guy went pee in her trash can while she was using the toilet. Things got a bit better when she moved to a nicer spot, but her room still smelled bad sometimes because the trash in her bathroom wasn’t taken out enough. Most people there were nice, especially one person who’s going to be an Occupational Therapist soon – they were super good. We talked to the staff about what was bothering us, and they did make some changes. But when it was time for her to go back to full-time Memory Care, we chose a different place. It was cheaper, the care was great, and it was all brand new.

"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living Facility"

We chose this place because it's reasonably priced and conveniently located near the interstate. I'd tell a friend that the staff turnover is high, but that's probably typical everywhere. Just be sure to visit at least once a week. And even if you label everything (like shoes, socks, towels, sheets, and electric shaver) with your loved one's name, things still go missing.

"Clean and Friendly, But Not Enough Care"

I visited this place, and it was pleasant. Super clean, and our guide was friendly. They couldn’t meet my loved one’s needs.

"Decent facility, but not ideal for my loved one's needs."

Nice place. Didn't quite suit my loved one's needs.

"Cleanliness and medical focus concerns overshadow community's nice aspects."

The community was nice, but cleanliness and medical focus concerned some.

"Great Assisted Living with Room for Improvement"

Private rooms can be expensive here. But they offer a good option: a private bedroom with a shared bathroom and hallway. The staff is helpful when we have questions or concerns about our loved ones. Recently, they changed the Executive Director, and the new one is listening to families and residents to address their concerns. For dinner, they serve a lot of sandwiches, which can be tough for some residents to eat. I think more pasta would be better to avoid choking hazards. Charter has nurses on staff to assist residents.

"Friendly Assisted Living with Memory Care Unit"

My family member used to be at another place, but we had some problems with getting help. We switched to this community, and they’re willing to take care of my loved one even if they’re not completely independent. This place is good for people who need assistance. The staff is really friendly, and they have a special memory care area. It’s been a bit challenging for my loved one, but we’re trying to adjust. They also let my family member eat with other residents in personal care so they can socialize.

"Assisted living visit had minor issues, mainly about lunch quality."

We visited for the first time and noticed some things to address. They're trying their best, and I'm glad my loved one's here. Lunch wasn't impressive. We chose this place for its nursing staff availability. They brought a rabbit, which engaged my loved one. They update us regularly via calls, texts, and pictures. Overall, it's a good community; lunch is my main concern.

"Poor care, communication, and cleanliness at assisted living facility"

This place made too many mistakes with medications, especially not giving insulin properly to someone with diabetes. They're really bad at keeping in touch with family members, didn't even mention a hospital trip once. An ambulance couldn't get in or contact anyone when trying to bring my loved one back. My family member looked unkempt, with dirty hair and wearing the same clothes. I finally had to send a detailed 16-page complaint to the OIG.

"Missing Belongings and Confusion in Assisted Living Facility"

Surely jot down each thing your family member takes there. A bunch of their stuff vanished. It's like they couldn't keep track of everything. We even had to go back and forth thrice, and they tried to make us take furniture that wasn't ours. They've got new people in charge now, so I hope things have improved.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"

I visited the facility a few times and thought it would be good, but my relative's experience wasn't great. They placed him in an apartment that wasn't suitable. The remodeling was ongoing, so the place wasn't ready to live in. We couldn't help move him in, and some promises weren't kept. The staff tried their best during these tough times. Before the pandemic, it was clean and had a great room. I recommend asking questions.

"Assisted Living Worth Recommending"

They switched management recently, and it’s improving. Communication could be faster. Dad loves the food. Just make sure they keep their promises. Overall, I’d recommend it.

"Chose due to proximity and pandemic adjustments; recommend overall."

We chose Charter Senior Living because it accepted new residents nearby. It was the best option despite food changes due to COVID-19. Overall, recommend to others.

"Mixed Feelings About Charter Senior Living of Edgewood"

Charter Senior Living of Edgewood has a pretty good staff. The cost is about the same as other places nearby. The food is tasty. The rooms are a bit small. They have two screened-in porches for residents to enjoy.

"Liked it, high entrance fee"

I toured Brookdale and really liked it. The office staff was very helpful. The entrance fee was high, but they offered to lower the first month's rent to help. The main reason I didn't choose them is they don't accept state aid.

"Happy with Mom's Move to This Community"

This is a place I would recommend. It's been great for my mom since she moved here. I know she's in good hands because the staff is nice. They're helpful when needed and kind when I visit. The community and her room are clean, and they do a good job keeping it that way. The meals are good, and she's joined some of the activities. She exercises every morning. She's doing well, and I'm happy with everything they've done for us.

"A Pleasant Visit!"

I toured Brookdale and liked it. The place was nice, and the staff were friendly. They were honest about not being able to care for my uncle's needs, which I appreciated.

"Warm Staff and Clean Facilities!"

I like how the staff are caring and supportive of my mom. She’s made a lot of progress since she’s been there. The place is always clean. My mom has a studio apartment, and whenever I visit, the bed is made, the bathroom is clean, and the floors are vacuumed. I was there during her meal time, and the food looked good with a decent portion size.

"Clean and well-kept assisted living, close to family but passed."

It's kinda like the other spots we checked out, but since it's practically in my brother's backyard, I didn't pick it. I didn't want him doing all the care stuff alone. It's super clean, and everyone who lives there looks really neat. I'd live there myself if I could.

"Caring Staff Improve Mom's Experience"

Brookdale has a really nice feel and environment. My mom enjoys the staff, they make her feel cared for and improve her overall experience. They are very dedicated and caring. They offer different activities, but my mom isn't very involved yet. We're trying to get her more interested. She gets good, nutritious meals that are just right for her small appetite.

"Place Needs Thorough Cleaning"

I didn't really like my visit to this place. They could do a lot more to make it clean. It didn't look nice. The carpet all over the place was really dirty. I wouldn't feel good about having my mom live here.

"Unjust Charges Force Loved One To Move"

My mother lived at this place until the management changed. Suddenly, the first bill they handed to us was twice the usual amount! They put pressure on me, warning that I'd get reported to credit agencies if I didn't pay. I paid, but have been struggling to get my money back from numerous mistaken charges. They claim to set their rates based on an "a la carte" system. In all honesty, the people running the place are terrible -- not the caregivers. The care my mom got was wonderful and the staff truly cared for her. I was reluctant to relocate her but the bogus charges left us no choice.

"Fantastic Dining Experience"

The food is awesome, like eating in a fancy restaurant. The people who work here are super nice and helpful. We're really happy with everything, they always help us out when we need something.

"Incredibly Friendly Staff, Mediocre Food"

The staff at Emeritus Edgewood is super friendly and nice. However, the food isn't good, which all the residents complain about.

"Satisfactory Care, Unsettling Events, and Frustrating Process"

The care seemed decent, but the events in the final days were unsettling. Some things happened that we just couldn't understand - like our mom being sent to the hospital and passing away. Wrapping up the account was a long, confusing, and annoying process. It wasn't about what needed to be done or how much it cost -- just the endless waiting. This had to do with the main corporate office.

"Friendly staff and cleanliness make it a good choice."

Things are going well so far. The staff is really nice, and they keep everything clean. The food is good too. I think they could improve communication with residents about what’s happening. It would also be helpful if they made signing up for activities clearer and provided a map. I chose this place because it’s convenient and has a friendly atmosphere. Everyone is outgoing.

"Nice facility, but stay involved for best care"

I had no experience with this type of facility before, so my feedback is based on what I expected from our initial discussions. The nursing staff consists of very careful LPNs. The on-site beauty shop is very affordable. They used to schedule 4-6 activities every day, but now there seem to be fewer. The response time to the call pendant is supposed to be within 15 minutes. Sometimes it's quicker, but usually it takes longer, especially at night when there are fewer staff members. It's a nice facility, but you need to stay involved to make sure the maintenance and care are good. We had regular problems with managing the oxygen tank. Even after getting a portable concentrator, we still have to remind the staff to put it back on the charger when Mom returns to her room.

"Emeritus: Friendly Staff and Good Food!"

We checked out a few other places, but we picked Emeritus because of its location. The staff is super friendly. They might need more staff to care for all the residents, but they're doing their best. I haven't tried the food, but it always looks really good, so I think it'd be pretty tasty.

"Visited Assisted Living: Unsure for Parents"

I visited the assisted living facility. I might share the details with my dad, but I'm uncertain if it's suitable for parents.

"Secure, All-Inclusive Assisted Living with Extra Safety Measures"

This place has different secure levels and everything is included. They have special wristbands to keep people safe in the secure area. It's a lot like Carriage Court.
