The people working here are really nice and always willing to help. But the company’s rules don’t seem right. My wife lived here for more than five years before she died. They didn’t give me back enough money for the last month she paid for but didn’t stay.

We've tried Highgrove at Tates Creek for my mom's respite care. Overall, it's a safe place for your loved one. I felt good about the care she received there. Remember to label belongings with names to avoid misplacement.

"Neglected Residents and Non-Responsive Management Spoil Assisted Living Experience"
We spent a few days at this assisted living facility and weren't at all pleased. Strangers kept wandering into my relative's room. When I questioned the workers about how to stop this, they said we needed to keep the door locked all the time - not a good solution for someone in memory care. The workers didn't seem to monitor the residents well. One time, a man was roaming the halls without clothes on, and nobody noticed until I flagged down a staff member. Despite handling the situation well, my family member no longer felt safe and we chose to leave. I agreed to pay some upfront costs, but wanted to discuss reducing the total fee with the director since we only stayed for a short period and I felt they hadn't fulfilled their contractual duties. I tried numerous times to contact him, writing a letter, attempting to schedule a meeting, and even calling his personal number, but I never received a reply. Finally, I reached out to the company's main office, which was also hard to get a hold of. I think this whole ordeal was terribly managed and unprofessional.

"Extravagant Activities at Assisted Living!"
The staff members have been great, but we’ve noticed some issues with how clean the community is. The bathroom cleaning and sweeping aren’t as frequent as they should be. During meal service, everything seems really good. We were pleasantly surprised by the activities they offer, especially on the assisted living side. They have live entertainment, parties, and more—it’s quite extravagant!

They need to work on communication. We live far away, so when our loved one moved in, they started a group text to keep us updated. But as time goes on, we're getting fewer updates. It's fading away.

We picked Highgrove at Tates Creek because it was the cheapest option for what you get. The food here is made by a chef, and if you don't like what's on the daily menu, they'll make whatever you want. Overall, I'd suggest it to others who are looking.

"Mixed Feelings about Assisted Living Facility"
The food choices in the dining room were simple. The place was clean but old-fashioned. The apartments were big. It's in a good spot near shops and restaurants. We didn't pick it because the independent living was only two-bedroom cottages separate from the main building. My parents wanted to live independently in the main building.

The food for lunch and dinner needs more choices and better taste. Make sure all the staff knows the right medicine info. Change the trash cans after they're emptied. Fix the fire alarm system for safety.

My mom really enjoys this place. It's friendly, helpful, and fun. The staff goes beyond expectations, and they've been patient with me as a new caregiver. Every day is a learning experience, and they help us through it all. Great job—keep it up!
