"Needs Better Care and Management"
The shared spaces look good, but my own room isn’t cleaned much. People seem nice when they talk to you. There aren’t enough workers to look after everyone properly. A few of the staff really try to help, but others seem like they’re just there for the money and the meals. The meals aren’t great—they’re often cold and tough. The person in charge of activities doesn’t do a good job. It’s too pricey for just a bed and bad food. The bosses really need to do better.

"Facility Needs Improvement, but Still Recommend Symphony of Valley Farms"
I didn't like how they handle laundry. Lots of stuff got lost. The managers should take more responsibility and do better. The food mostly looks gross. They should make food that people want to eat. Despite this, I'd suggest Symphony of Valley Farms.

"Mixed Feelings About Symphony of Valley Farms"
Symphony of Valley Farms provided a nice tour, but it didn't suit my loved one. It felt more like a nursing home and was pricier.

"Assisted Living Review: Room Cleanliness and Care Issues"
My Mom stayed at Symphony and some care wasn't good. In memory care, when Mom asked for help, nobody came half the time. Symphony staff hardly cleaned Mom's room except for taking out the garbage. We often saw flying bugs, gnats from leftover food in the kitchen, almost every night.

"Symphony Assisted Living Falls Short: Overworked, Undertrained, and Dishonest Staff"
This place seemed nice at first, but it turned bad after a few months. Check with the state people who help residents and ask what people are really saying. There are lots of complaints about food and how they take care of residents—some people even have to leave because the staff isn’t trained well enough for the kind of care they promise. That’s what happened to us. We had to move my mom to another place, which was really hard for her but we had to do it. The staff are friendly, but they have too much to do and don’t know enough. The boss people in charge of sales and activities are nice and caring. But the boss people in charge of money, nursing, and running things aren’t very good at their jobs and don’t always tell the truth. We still haven’t gotten back almost $2,000 that we paid ahead of time, and it’s been a whole year. Overall, I wouldn’t say Symphony is a good choice. There are better places where they do things right and the people in charge are honest.

"Positive Staff; Improvements Needed in Food and Services"
The person who sets things up is great. Sometimes my loved one misses scheduled hair appointments, which needs improvement. She doesn't like the food provided, so we bring her own. Housekeeping comes once a week. Laundry (sheets and towels) is supposed to be done weekly but was missed a few times. Billing is set up for automatic payments.

"Poor Care and Unfulfilled Promises at Assisted Living Facility"
Our loved one's care was severely neglected at this facility. Initially, the place seemed perfect when we toured it. They boasted about their strong emphasis on family involvement and exceptional communication strategies. However, these promises quickly proved empty, perhaps due to inadequate staffing. Simple things that required basic common sense, like ensuring our loved one had their glasses on to prevent falls, were constantly overlooked, with excuses offered in lieu of solutions. There were consistent errors in administering the correct medication, too. When we tried to address these issues by requesting access to the medical charts, we were met with hostility and undue questioning from the head nurse.

"Unsatisfactory Living Conditions at Assisted Living Facility"
This facility is terrible. The staff is unmotivated and the office personnel are incredibly impolite. The meals they offer are unappealing and they are severely short-staffed. On top of that, it's not at all clean there. I had to remove my loved one from this establishment because of these issues. I think someone should report this place.

"Obvious Shortcomings Noted in Assisted Living Facility"
We're greatly disappointed with this assisted living center. The meals are just plain horrible. Our loved one has resorted to eating frozen meals, even though we're paying for three meals a day here. Dinner is almost non-existent, and lunch is tough, dried-out meat. The vegetable soup they served this week had only a single pea, bean, and carrot in it. The potatoes are so hard, they're like rocks. Employees keep leaving because they find better jobs. We're shelling out money for services we rarely get. On top of all this, Pharmerica, their pharmacy, takes forever to deliver urgent medications. We've even received the wrong dosage once. Sometimes, a week or more passes without any meds being delivered to our loved one. This facility definitely needs to be reported.

"Staff turnover, medication delays, service issues, and food discrepancies."
Most of the workers are nice, but many leave, and the place doesn't have enough staff. Getting medicines from Pharmerica is often a hassle. Waiting days for needed meds isn't right. Coming back after being in the hospital takes forever. Our family member paid for things they never got. Sometimes, we order food, but get something else. There's hardly any fresh fruit.

"Great Care, Lovely Environment"
This place is really nice. The people who work here have been really helpful to my dad. They make sure he gets what he needs. The place has pretty gardens with flowers, and there's a special area for people with memory issues to enjoy outside. Dad likes the food, and they make sure it's okay for his diet. He enjoys watching movies and going to the exercise class they have. This place is close to our family, and I think it's a good choice.

"Happy with the care, but mom isn’t interested in activities"
We are very happy with Symphony at Valley Farms. I believe they do their best to provide the care needed. Our mother isn't very interested in activities and usually doesn't join in. It would be nice if the caregivers encouraged her more, but I know even I, as her daughter, can't always get her to do things!

"Assisted Living Facility Review: Adjustments and Hopeful Progress"
Our experience started rough. Mom's anxiety wasn't addressed initially. She acted out, but now gets treatment. She's moved units, where residents and staff are more engaging. Hoping for a better fit.

"Elmcroft is close to perfect!"
I recently had lunch at this community, and there were several options to choose from. Although I only had a sandwich, it was quite good. Elmcroft of Valley Farms is an assisted living community with a memory care unit where my mom currently resides. The staff is attentive, and communication regarding my mom's care is excellent. I'm pleased that there are plenty of activities for her to participate in. Overall, everything at Elmcroft is wonderful!

"Great Care and Support at Elmcroft of Valley Farms"
My mom has been at Elmcroft of Valley Farms for just over a month now. My husband and I recently visited her, and we were really happy with how well she and the other residents are cared for. The caregivers are very kind and attentive, and the supervisor in charge of memory care is fantastic. She has been very helpful, especially in guiding us on how to best support my mom with her dementia. My mom is getting good meals, interacting with other residents, and enjoying a warm and supportive environment. We are very satisfied with Elmcroft and highly recommend it.

"More hands-on activities suggested"
Overall, this is a great environment for my mother. Personally, I would like to see a few more hands-on activities that are simple for the seniors. For example, holiday decorations or a class on microwaveable foods. Teaching them how to use different methods to create things in their rooms could be enjoyable. Otherwise, everything is great!

"Elmcroft Staff Cares Well, Food Quality Disappoints Residents"
At Elmcroft of Valley Farms, the staff are attentive and caring. They've looked after her nicely, especially considering her Parkinson's. While she's satisfied with the care, she and other residents often express dissatisfaction with the food. Personally, I'm quite content with everything.
