"Friendly Assisted Living with Activities"
It's a nice place for people who don't want anything too fancy. The atrium inside is a nice touch, and there are plenty of activities for residents. They've taken good care of my mom, and the caregivers and managers are friendly.

"Mixed Experience at Lafreniere Assisted Living"
Lafreniere is an alright place considering the cost. The staff could be better at interacting with people. Customer service needs improvement, and they don't pay enough attention to tenants. My mom thinks it's fine, and she's made some friends.

"Disappointing Visit to Lafreniere Assisted Living: Negligence and Unprofessionalism"
My visit to Lafreniere Assisted Living and Memory Care was a letdown. My advisor from 'A Place for Mom' and I both agreed that the place carries a depressing vibe. The grounds are not properly maintained as the grass was overgrown and the visitor's sign was almost concealed by it. The welcome wasn't impressive either as the person who had planned my visit was absent. I wasn't informed about this when I called to inform them of my being slightly late. Once there, I received a less than satisfactory tour from a stranger. Surprisingly, she couldn't readily provide me with their pricing information. Her excuse was that she could not give me the original sheet, but she offered to make a copy for my reference. The whole scenario seemed odd to me. I was further disappointed by the staff's lack of dedication. While I was there, I noticed some employees engrossed in their phones when they should have been assisting residents with their meals. The visit left such a heavy impact on me, that I literally asked a friend of mine to veto Lafreniere should my 13-year-old daughter ever suggest it for me in the future.

"Peace of Mind in a Safe, Friendly Environment"
We're really happy overall! The apartment is old-fashioned, but since my mother-in-law doesn't cook or anything, it's not a problem. That's why I gave 4 stars instead of 5. The staff is very attentive and friendly, always calling us if there's an issue. We're thrilled we made the move. My mother-in-law was unsure about moving because she thought she was fine living alone in her apartment. However, we noticed she just sat and watched TV and didn't interact with anyone besides us. Moving her to Lafreinere has been such a blessing! She's safe in her own apartment, and just outside her door, trained staff are available if she needs anything. She's settled in now and participates in the events and games they offer. We're relieved knowing she's in a secure environment!

"Assisted Living Community: Mixed Feelings but Worth Considering"
This place offers lots to do and is in a handy spot. They organize fun stuff like bingo and trips to the casino. The staff are nice, but there are some new faces popping up often. The tour was helpful, and they gave us all we needed. Overall, it was a good experience, and we picked it because of the tour and caring staff.

"Chose Another Place Over Lafreniere"
We visited Lafreniere, and it wasn’t to our liking. It didn’t feel as spacious or tidy as the place we ended up picking. The place we chose offers more fun things to do and has bigger spaces for people to live in.

"Great smaller facility with remodeled rooms and strong recovery"
This place is smaller, with only about 90 residents, and we really like that. All the rooms have been redone. They had to close for 6 weeks after a hurricane, but they did an amazing job getting everything back to normal. They even threw a welcome back party for the residents and their families the day after reopening. I think it's a fantastic place and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living: Suitable for Independent Residents"
They say they check on residents every 2 hours, but they don't. It's good if you're independent; not for those needing much help. They have activities like music and allow pets. Restaurant-style dining. Salon staff is nice. Close to family. Recommend if mobile.

"Feeling Untidy and Gloomy; Not Suitable Home"

"Looks Older Than Most Other Properties"
The place seemed older than the other buildings we’d seen before. I think they should invest in some updates. The inside looked just as old as the outside. The staff was really nice and friendly, but because of the decor, it felt like an old-time nursing home.

"Not a bad community"
The place is clean and well-maintained. Our main concern is the limited nurse availability for medication distribution—Mom needs more frequent treatments. Staff are friendly, but reminders for personal care seem lacking. They do offer enjoyable activities, and the food is good.

"We Like the Atrium"
My mom moved into the Atrium. Overall, it's been a good experience, but there have been a few issues. The new Executive Director changed worker hours, causing some staff to quit. They're hiring replacements, but service has suffered due to the shortage. The food is great, and there are fun activities. However, the hairdresser doesn't know how to relax my mom's African American hair. We're hopeful things will improve.

Pay the workers more money
"Stop Deceiving Us With Unfulfilled Promises"
This facility is completely misleading. Despite what they claim, there are no onsite therapists, visiting podiatrists, homecare services, around-the-clock awake staff, visiting physical therapists, nurses, visiting nurse, speech therapists, medication technicians, dieticians, full-time activity directors, or IADL assistance. The Atrium's director seems completely oblivious about how things work in this building. The staff are overworked and underpaid. The front desk personnel are clueless, and the bookkeeper seems to only know how to ask for payment. I asked about internet service for my mom and they told me they don't provide it. I'm forking over 3000 bucks and can't even get internet! I appreciate the nurses though, they seem to be the only ones who know anything. I strongly advise you not to consider this place for your loved ones. The CNA and PCA are the ones who really earn their pay, not the people in the office. My mom's PCA, in particular, I would give millions if I had it. This facility frequently misleads people. The receptionist and two office women should be replaced. They create a terrible vibe for the place. .

"The Atrium Assisted Living Review: Unimpressive, Smelly, Unsafe"
Our visit to The Atrium wasn't really great. Even though the workers there were friendly and made us feel welcome, we weren't sure if they were actually good at what they do. On top of that, there was a funky pee smell in the main lobby, and the style and look of the place was old and sad looking. Some of the chairs even had tears in them that needed fixing. My husband also noticed a glass coffee table that someone could get hurt on if they tripped. Sadly, after our visit, I can't say I would want our relative, who has Alzheimer's, to live here.

"Headline: "Decent care overshadowed by disorganized administration at assisted living facility""
I'm conflicted about this place, where my aunt once lived and recently passed away. My gripes stem from specific parts of this facility. The bookkeeper is the major issue; she doesn't seem to know how to handle funds properly. When rent was due at the start of each month, there'd always be a billing problem. My aunt would send me to pay, but the bookkeeper never bothered to meet me. Instead, she chatted with me through the receptionist, who often seemed completely swamped by her workload. The last time I went to pay rent, there was a strange charge, so I wanted to discuss it with the bookkeeper. The receptionist went to tell her, and I heard the bookkeeper say she was too busy to talk to me. For ten minutes, the receptionist went back and forth, relaying messages with my sensitive financial info out in the open. None of the caregivers really stood out either. On a brighter note, the administrator was a great person. She seemed genuinely fond of her job, and was always kind, caring and actively helping her residents.

"Friendly Staff, Nice Place, Could Use More Move-in Support"
The Atrium is a nice place. The people working there are friendly and take good care of the residents. They did a great job helping my loved one feel part of the community. But, they could've helped us more when we moved in. We pretty much had to do it ourselves.

"A Fair Analysis of The Atrium Assisted Living in Metairie, LA"
This assisted living facility is 40 years old, so there's not a lot to see when you look outside. On the brighter side, the resident rooms are pretty spacious. On the downside, the bathrooms could use some updating, especially the old-fashioned cast iron tubs, which should really be replaced with walk-in tubs for easier access. The sitting and dining areas are comfy and well-lit, with a lot of natural light coming in like in a courtyard. The price isn't too bad, but it's only set for a 30-day period, so they could potentially raise it every month. The staff is friendly, the place is pretty clean. Comes with central air and heating, an emergency pull cord, and a stove/oven range and refrigerator. The rooms could use a fresh coat of paint. Overall, it's not half-bad.

"Delayed Replies and Lack of Basic Information"
They sure did take forever to respond to my questions, if that's how they treat potential residents, I can't even guess how badly actual residents are treated. They couldn't even answer basic questions about things like meal times.

"FACILITY FAILS: UNACCEPTABLE CARE AND SURPRISE FEES"
The Atrium Assisted Living facility was a huge disappointment for me. My mom needed thorough help with her everyday tasks and to my understanding, the flat fee was going to cover these needs. They promised me a rate of $3000. Just three weeks later, they said they had to bump the price up by $1000. The reason? They unilaterally decided to hire an overnight aid to help with her sleep apnea machine. This was a surprise move, considering she has been using the same machine for 3 years now without issue. When I expressed my disagreement, they sent my mom a discharge note in response. I had no choice but to pay the increased rate as it was too difficult to relocate, especially after moving across states recently. Just when I thought things couldn't get worse, one night the CPAP mask on my mom had no air, and it was only because I checked on her that the problem got corrected. By now, I'm seriously considering finding her a new place. It's hard to see any silver linings here. Staff members seem to be always missing, especially in the memory care section. There were times when I found my mom sick in her room and no staff was around to help. The worst incident was when a staff member let my mom slip off her wheelchair while they were distracted by a puppy. It's clear that the administrators are lax and their patient care is incredibly substandard.

"Very Happy with the Care"
When I got to the Atrium, the front desk clerk I had talked to on the phone greeted me. She was really nice and friendly. The other staff were also very helpful and ready to assist in any way. I felt relieved because I was traveling from Houston, Texas to New Orleans and expected something to go wrong, but everything was fine. I’m sure my mother-in-law will be comfortable here, and I felt at ease leaving her. The friendly staff made me confident she will be cared for just like I have cared for her over the years. Thanks to A Place for Mom, I found the perfect place. So far, so good.

"Clean and Affordable"
I believe they lack someone in charge to ensure tasks are completed. Everyone is friendly, but routine tasks aren't always done. They organize exercises and birthday parties for activities. The community is older but affordable. It's not fancy, yet very clean with nice rooms. My aunt is quite content.
