"Hidden Extra Costs for Services, Overall Care is Good"
I discovered that there are some extra costs that aren't clearly mentioned at first. The prices for additional services feel like a secret, and I had to ask higher-ups to find out what they were. My loved one is doing okay so far, but I need to keep track of extra expenses like having meals delivered to her room when she's not feeling well.

"Significant Neglect at Memory Care Unit Forces Those to Relocate"
My only experience is with the memory care department. The people at the front desk were always nice and ready to help. The residents in the regular assisted living sector seemed pleased with their situation. Things weren't so great in the memory care division, I'm afraid. My mom was living there for about 10 months, during which she had a tough time. Once, she was injured so badly, she had to stay in the hospital for over two weeks and then get rehab treatment for an extra month. After that, we decided not to have her return to the facility. According to the staff, she started fighting and fell against a wall when they tried to clean her up after she became sick in bed. It's hard to believe, considering my mom was an 89-year-old who stood at only 4'8" and weighed 90 pounds and was weak from pneumonia. Before that incident, I wasn't impressed with the care she was getting at the facility. There were very few activities, it stunk most of the time, and my mom was often left lying in bed. Luckily, we moved her to a new place, where she's much happier and awake more often.

"Great care but pricey personal care system"
We've had a great time at Brookdale Attleboro. I have no complaints. They really try to work with you. The care is very good, and the staff is helpful. They treat my loved one very well. She is happy there and loves the meals. The only problem I have is their pricing for personal care. It's based on flat rates for specific needs, like showering, instead of by the hour. I think it costs more that way.

"Clean and Lovely Assisted Living"
Brookdale Attleboro was nice and clean. During the tour, we didn't see as much as expected, possibly due to short staffing. Overall, it was a lovely place.

"Affordable but Uncomfortable"
The place wasn't very clean and smelled like urine. The staff I dealt with didn't seem welcoming; it was more matter-of-fact. My loved one, who had a broken foot, wasn't comfortable. Surprisingly affordable, but you get what you pay for.

"Cozy and Welcoming Assisted Living Facility"
I met with one of the staff upon arrival. She shared details about Brookdale and gave me a tour. The entrance feels cozy and comfortable. I loved the patio by the dining room and the wooded backyard. The studio apartment was beautifully decorated. I can't wait to bring my mom for a visit!

"We took a tour of this community"
I visited this community, and it was nice, though the building is a bit older. It felt very homey and welcoming. Every place has its good and bad points. This one was nice, and we were really interested, but it just wasn’t the right fit for us. I recommend that families visit several places before deciding.

"Friendly and Professional Staff!"
The staff were really nice to my loved one and me during our tour. They were professional and answered all our questions in detail. The property was clean, and they had great amenities for residents. Unfortunately, it was out of our price range for my mother.

"Assessment Fee Surprise at Brookdale Assisted Living; Staff Friendly"
I visited Brookdale Attleboro and found it nice. They charged $500 for an assessment. I was told if my mom moved in, it'd be credited; if not, refunded. Now, she's not moving in, yet I got a bill. I hope it's just a mix-up. Staff was super friendly, though!

"Comfortable Choice: Positive Experience at Brookdale Assisted Living"
My mom picked Brookdale because she felt comfortable. She's been there a month, and it's mostly good. She's settling in well, joining activities, and likes the staff and other seniors. She's glad for her own space. The food and meal times take some getting used to, and she misses her local channels. Overall, it's been good for her. Just know, everyone's experience might not be the same. We were very involved, asked lots of questions, and made her apartment feel like home. The staff at Brookdale helped a lot too.

"Unhappy Stomach, Unhappy Stay"
We went to Brookdale Attleboro four times in November and . The place was easy to get around, with a doctor's office, hair salon, and activities. The apartments were okay, but the actual rooms had lower-quality counters, appliances, bathrooms, and carpet. They told us the model apartment had upgrades, but we weren't offered those. The dining room was a big problem—no menus, inexperienced staff, cold food, and complaints from other residents. They said they were looking for a new chef, and that day, the chef didn't show up. The front desk staff were nice and apologized for the kitchen issues. Overall, the location seems okay, but hopefully they find an experienced chef.

"Friendly Staff and Smooth Transition at Emeritus"
Before my dad chose Emeritus to move into, he was thinking about moving out of state. He had all of his furniture put into storage there until the sale of his house was finalized. After the closing, he decided to stay local and move into Emeritus. They helped him every step of the way, even temporarily furnishing his apartment until we could get his furniture out of storage. The staff are friendly and encourage him to participate in activities. He always has a story to tell about the staff, and it's always positive.

"Pretty But Poorly Run Facility"
The place looks great but doesn't operate well. They hardly ever update you about your family member. They promise lots of good things, but don't deliver on any of them. They don't have enough staff and the cost is really high.

"Beautiful Canterbury poorly managed and overpriced."
Canterbury looks nice but its management is terrible. They hardly reach out and provide updates about your family member. They promise a perfect service but once you are part of the facility, they fail to deliver what they pledged. Plus, it's really pricey.

"Nice place, overall"
Emeritus at Canterbury Woods does a good job overall, but there are some issues. The place looks nice, and they keep it clean. The care staff is friendly and professional. However, the dining room staff needs improvement; meals take too long. On the positive side, they have a secure outdoor area for residents. My main concern is the extra charges for care, which they only discuss after adding them to your bill.

"Great spot for Dad!"
My father-in-law really likes it here. He says the food's good, which is a relief 'cause he never used to eat much. The place is super clean and looks fancy, and the caregivers are all awesome. It's a bit pricey, but it's not way more expensive than other places we checked out.

"Generally good overall, some issues"
Overall, things have been pretty good. The staff is nice, and the facility looks fine. Initially, we had some problems with requested care not being provided, but we resolved that quickly. Recently, though, there have been issues with missing items from my loved one's room. I'm currently in contact with the administrator about this major concern.

"Mom's Fresh Start in the Community"
Mom moved to the community two weeks ago. Before that, I visited four times. The grounds are super clean, and the residents seem really happy. There are lots of activities, and the staff is helpful and flexible with meetings. I'd like better attention to seat cushions in the dining room, though. Overall, Mom's much happier now, laughing with her new friends.
