"Expensive and lacking care, with food and memory issues"

The place is okay if you don't need much help, but it gets really pricey if you need more care. The staff doesn't seem to know much about taking care of people. The food is decent overall, but not so great in the dementia unit. And the memory care part of the facility isn't well organized.

"Friendly Staff and Cozy Apartments; Needs Modernization"

Pros: The staff is really friendly. Apartments are nice, with bedroom(s), walk-in bath(s), and living/dining area with kitchen. There's a TV room with nightly shows and snacks, a creativity room, and a small game room. Assigned dining seating helps staff keep track of residents. Communication is good; caregivers get emails about family events and Covid updates. Residents wear medical alert watches or necklaces, and vitals are checked regularly. Cost is reasonable, with the option to adjust monthly fees for additional needs. Cons: The facility looks a bit old-fashioned. There are leaks in the hallway ceilings. Thermostat controls could be better. Overall: Definitely recommended!

"Terrible Assisted Living Facility with Dangerous Mold and Poor Care"

Don't even think about choosing this place! It was okay when I put my mom here about 2 years ago but things have gone downhill fast. The building is full of dangerous mold because it wasn't built right. They put my mom in a small room while they fixed up her apartment. When I checked what they were doing, they had black mold everywhere, even 10 feet into the building. They promised to clean it up right, but they didn't. They let the dirty apartments stay open to the rest of the building and moved the mold around on the carpets without even replacing them. Since then, they've had awful issues like bedbugs and a sickness called legionnaires disease that keeps making people ill. At one point, they even closed the dining room for months and blamed it on Covid, but it was because they didn't have enough workers. They gave the residents horrible food in cheap, throw-away containers. I could go on and on about how horrible this place is. The only good thing here are the activities.

"Inadequate care, unclear refund policy."

"My family member fell within 12 hours, unsure when. Staff reluctant about refund. Assessment seemed wrong. Read contract thoroughly. "

I would recommend this community; no issues since my loved one moved in. Staff is welcoming, communication with family is excellent.

"Filthy Facility with Major Bedbug Problem, Not Recommended"

My mom or dad used to live in the west building. Honestly, this place has gone from bad to worse. The area where they take care of people with memory issues is really dirty. The carpets and kitchen are just nasty. They have a serious bedbug problem, and it's really affecting the residents. Bedbugs can even be seen in the daytime. They've even been spotted on the kitchenware that the residents eat with in the memory care area. This place is awful, I would tell no one to come here.

"Beautiful, friendly staff, smaller rooms, not chosen by loved one"

I toured this community; it's beautiful with friendly staff and cleanliness. The rooms are smaller but have great views. Outstanding tour guide, very welcoming. They sent a flower/fruit basket. It was my top choice, but my loved one chose another place.

"Assisted Living Facility Review"

The staff and people in charge are really nice and helpful. I like how they drive us to doctor visits on Mondays and Tuesdays. There are more activities now, and the bus driver is great!

"Inconsistent Shower Schedule, Helpful Activity Staff, One Year Experience"

I've been at this place for a year. I try my best not to upset anyone, but my shower times are always messed up. Some weeks, I don't get any help with my questions, and honestly, I'm confused about what's happening. I don't shower alone. However, the folks who organize activities are great and give good assistance.

"Assisted Living Review: Pleasant Experience with Room for Improvement"

I really like living here and my room is great! Since I arrived, I've been asking to get my rug cleaned, but nothing has happened yet!! The staff who help me are really kind and useful! When I eat in the dining room, I often feel like I get served last because my table is all the way in the corner!

"Staffing issues affect resident engagement and activity options."

They need more staff to engage residents effectively.

"Comfortable Care: Assisted Living Facility Review"

My wife's mom liked staying here. She said staff was nice, activities were fun, and food was good. If needed, my wife and her sister would choose it again.

"Wonderful staff, great environment, excited for future."

The staff and managers are really nice and welcoming. They cared about my parents. After checking 12 places, we found Eddy Pond West outstanding.

"Great care and friendly staff"

We visited this community while looking for care for my mom. The staff was kind and answered all our questions. We liked the room and the healthy meal options. The activities list was also impressive. We would recommend this community for a loved one's care.

"Avoid this facility: Poor care, disappearing belongings, untrained staff"

This assisted living facility was great three years ago, but ever since Brookdale took over operations, it's been a disappointing downhill journey. They are constantly short on trained staff and the quality of personal care has significantly dropped, while the prices keep climbing up. My mom's care at this facility has been really poor- she frequently ends up sitting in damp clothes due to insufficient toilet care. Complaints about this issue have repeatedly been ignored. Additionally, we've noticed her clothes and purse among other nice things mysteriously keep disappearing. I would recommend everyone to keep their distance from this facility. And just a heads up, it only accepts private payments.

"Not Our Favorite Tour"

Our visit to Brookdale Eddy Pond West wasn’t great. The place was nice, but they pushed sales too much. It didn’t meet our expectations.

"Inadequate Staff but Good Care at Brookdale"

My mom might need to leave Brookdale Eddy Pond West because she needs more care now. The staff here are friendly and look after the residents well, but they need more hands. Too many residents aren't getting all the help they need. During my visit, my mom was stuck in her wheelchair the whole time because no one could help. She could use some motivation.

"A Lifesaver in Tough Times"

I had never dealt with dementia before, so when I was told I had 24 hours to move my mom out of our local rehab facility, I was overwhelmed and just cried. I called every local nursing home and got no response. Then I found A Place for Mom, which led me to BEP-West in Auburn. Even though my mom isn't very accepting of help (she's like holding a wet cat), the staff has been incredibly supportive of both her and me! This whole process has been so overwhelming. The feedback from the staff has validated my feelings and encouraged me. Our family loves the facility and the programs they offer. The common areas are great because we can visit without feeling like we're in a hospital room. I can't say enough good things. And (just to name a few) do amazing work for their clients. The personal care attendants, custodial, housekeeping, and kitchen staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and truly care for the residents. I know my mom is safe and with people who will help her. THANK YOU!

"Great Care, Helpful Staff, Some Room Issues"

The care here for my mom was really good. I have no complaints about the staff or the facility. The staff were helpful whenever I called them. I liked it a lot. There are activities available. My mom’s room wasn’t the best, she felt isolated because it was at the end of a long hallway.

"Highly recommend this wonderful place!"

My aunt is doing great and has fit in well here. The facility looks amazing and stays clean. The staff is wonderful, and I enjoy working with them. They care for my aunt very well. She has many activities to choose from and loves the music events. The food is excellent, and she gets to pick what she wants to eat from a great menu. Everything is going smoothly, so I would recommend this place.

"Very pleased with my dad’s care and experience!"

We’re very happy with this community. My dad is doing great here, and the staff has been excellent and caring. They work closely with his doctors to make sure he gets the care he needs. Everyone is friendly, and they offer great activities for the residents. I like how they encourage my dad to join in. It’s been a wonderful experience, and I’d recommend this place.

"First visit falls short at Brookdale Eddy Pond"

I didn't get a formal tour at Brookdale Eddy Pond because of mixed-up plans, but my short visit didn't leave a great first impression. It was late in the day and the front desk was empty. I hung around for some time, and even though some workers went by, nobody welcomed me until I stopped someone. I can't comment on their care, but I believe they should be ready for guests better.

"Assisted Living Gem: Clean, Informative, and Full of Services"

"A Fantastic Choice for Assisted Living!"

We're really happy with how things have turned out at Emeritus at Eddy Pond Campus! Everything has been wonderful, and I would give them top scores all around. We had some experience with the facility before choosing again, and we knew this was the right place for us.

"Assisted Living Facility Offers Quality Care and Engaging Activities"

This place has good care services from the staff. The people living here seem happy and busy with lots of activities. You can come visit your family member and have a meal with them. The outside area is nice and neat, perfect for walks.

"Happiness Found at Emeritus"

My father-in-law, Roger Carpenter Sr., has been at Emeritus for two weeks. He's absolutely thrilled and can't stop raving about his new home. The food, TV room, coffee area, and his apartment all fantastic. Most importantly, he's fond of everyone he's met. Audrey and Patrick play a crucial role in his happiness.

"Great Choice for Mom"

Certainly! Here's the revised review: "Eddy Pond is a nice place with tasty meals, helpful staff, and fun activities for my mom. Laundry and housekeeping are included in the rent fee, which makes it a great choice." And the headline: . 😊

"Best staff and clean environment!"

They keep the place very clean, and the staff is really friendly. Out of all the places I visited, this was the best one I found. The only downside is the activities; they could offer more variety and happen more often. They allow pets, and the staff will help if they think she needs it. The support from the staff is amazing. They had one of the best teams of all the places we saw.

"Fantastic Assisted Living Facility!"

This place is amazing! It’s beautiful, the apartments are great, it’s affordable, and my loved one couldn’t be happier here! I only have good things to say and would rate them higher than 5 stars if I could! For example, during her first meal, we asked if they had Lactaid since she’s lactose intolerant. They didn’t have any at the time, but within 5 minutes, the head chef came to our table, introduced himself, and said he’d personally get some on his next break. From then on, they always had Lactaid for her!

"Caring Nurses, Clean Rooms, Needs More Activities"

The food here isn’t the best. Sometimes, we get hot dogs for a big meal. They say we can get “grilled chicken breast” from another menu, but sometimes they run out and don’t have any. It can take a while to get your food because there aren’t enough people working in the eating area. The activities are fun, but only when they’re happening. There’s just one person who runs them. When she’s not here, like on her days off or vacation, there’s not much going on. The nurses are awesome, though. They really care and make sure to talk to our families if something’s up. And the place, including my mom’s room, is super clean.

"Eddy Pond: Mismanagement Leaves Family Drained"

My mom shouldn't have been sent to this home. She just constantly stayed in her room and slumped in her chair. When she was rushed to the hospital over low blood pressure, the doctors said that it was normal for her age, 85. She was kept at the hospital for nine days, and they didn't let her come back. I ended up having to pay almost all of a $7,000 bill. She was there for just four days. You might not take this complaint seriously, but that doesn't bother me.

"It's Okay"

The parking was sufficient. The food was decent, although I didn't have a chance to try it. The community was clean, and the staff was friendly. There were plenty of activities. Overall, it's an okay value for the money.

"Wonderful Place for Assisted Living"

Our time at Eddy Pond-Woods has been great and even better than we hoped. The staff is kind, polite, skilled, and nice to interact with every day. The place is bright, open, super clean, very welcoming, and set up well for the residents. We highly recommend this place.

"Beautiful facility with friendly staff"

This place looked amazing! The facility was beautiful, and the staff were super friendly and professional. We toured this location while searching for options for our loved one. The level of care was a bit more than what we needed at the time, but this place is definitely at the top of our list if we need assisted living in the future.

"Assisted Living Facility Lacks Attention to Residents"

My family member lives in the Memory Care Unit in this roomy and comfortable suite. However, I've noticed that the caregivers don't pay as much attention as they should. Sometimes, they say they'll do something but they don't. It seems like they spend a lot of time talking to each other in a different language or on their phones, instead of interacting with the residents. I've seen this happen quite a few times. The TV in the middle of the room is always on and it's too loud. There have also been several times when the front desk was empty, and when I've asked questions, nobody seems to have an answer. I can tell the management is trying to do better, though...

"Talked to Audrey - sounds awesome!"

I talked to Audrey, and it sounds awesome! They have lots of activities and trips, a piano, restaurant-style dining, a shuttle, laundry, housekeeping, and utilities (except phone). The studio was recently renovated and costs $2825/month.

"4th Visit Yields Average Review for 130-Resident Facility"

I visited for the fourth time this assisted living facility that hosts around 130 residents. 117 of them are active while 13 require memory care. The facility includes two buildings of three floors each, with the rooms being slightly big compared to similar facilities. However, they're currently trying to refurbish the main complex, which is expected to take anywhere from three to five months. If the residents stay in their current rooms during this process, they're given a discount of $500 per month due to the inconvenience. The level of cleanliness is just average, with residents' laundry being left in the hallway for pick-up. The refurbishment is obviously needed on many fronts. Upon my arrival, I noticed a lack of welcoming staff, even though I saw two employees just sitting, chatting with each other and eating ice-cream. They hardly looked knowledgeable or seemed to be informed when asked any questions. Noise on the main level was consistently loud, interfering with any chance of peace. They only have two computers near the lobby for resident use - a bit low for such a large population. Physical therapy services were not mentioned at all during my tour. There was limited information on the different care levels provided in the facility. Everything seems to be set up based on the cost per minute, and no detailed discussion on monthly costs was provided. Note, though, that there is a mention of a discount. For independent living, the base care costs around $2900 a month, which includes a $50 paperwork fee. Putting the price aside, this facility isn't the best choice." .
