"Golden Pond: Poor Care, Bad Management, Not Worth It"

I've lived here for ages, and keep hearing bad stuff about this place. Friends tell stories about poor care, managers who don't know what they're doing, and just plain greed. I would steer clear of this place. Even the people in town are glad to hear that they can't take in any more residents until they fix their problems. They've already taken a lot of money from folks like us, and I wouldn't send my grandparents their way. Trust me, there's nothing 'golden' about Golden Pond.

"Facility Varies by Belongings and Repairs"

To live here, it’s about what you can do differently. The facility really needs the HAC fixed. Apartment sizes vary based on how much stuff a resident brings.

"Unpleasant Experience and Suspicions at Golden Pond"

If it was possible, I'd rate my visit to Golden Pond at negative five stars. The place was absolutely filthy, and the workers were so impolite. The whole place reeked, making me feel sick. On top of that, the director was extremely bossy and was pressuring me. They didn't even show me the memory care section, it seemed like they were trying to keep things from me.

"Great Care and Friendly Staff"

I visited this place for my mom’s care. The staff was friendly and answered all our questions. We wanted a different layout for my mom to move around easily. The menu looked good, and the activities seemed helpful. We liked this place and would recommend it for good care and options for loved ones.

"Friendly, welcoming staff"

Golden Pond has been a great experience overall. They are doing an excellent job caring for our loved one. The facility is clean and well-kept, and the staff is friendly and professional. They managed the adjustment period well and worked hard to help her feel comfortable in the community.

"Excellent care, flexible, meets all our needs!"

My mom is living at Compass at Hopkinton, MA. She has severe dementia but still recognizes me and my two sisters. This is all new to me, so I don’t have much to compare it to. The direct care staff and admin staff are really nice. The residents are well taken care of—they’re fed, bathed, dressed, and changed when needed. There are daily activities, though my mom doesn’t enjoy most of them, but that’s normal with dementia. The dining and living areas are sunny and pleasant. Every resident has their own bedroom, decorated with their own things like paintings and photos. There are two bedrooms per suite with a shared bathroom, which is great for my mom because she can’t share a room with anyone. The floors are mopped often, and the staff handles the laundry, makes the beds, and tidies up for those who can’t. The hallways are wide enough for walkers and wheelchairs. There’s also a hair salon and a physical therapy department in the building. The grounds are pretty, with woods and a small pond where kids skate in winter, which my mom loves to watch from the big picture window. Family and friends can visit and take their loved ones out anytime without planning ahead, which I think is fantastic. I can even bring my mom’s dog to visit, which makes both of them so happy. It’s a locked unit on the third floor of a beautiful building. I looked at three or four other places, and while nothing is perfect, Compass at Hopkinton meets all our needs.

"Compass: A Positive Experience for My Dad"

My dad has only been at Compass for a week and a half. I've noticed that everyone is friendly, competent, and always ready to help the residents and their families. I chose Compass because of its location. The executive director made me feel very comfortable, and I had a positive feeling about it.

"Mixed Feelings: Assisted Living Experience"

Great place. Dad's shared room may be too cramped. Other options pricey. He may need more care.

"Great program, but more care needed."

Great program. I believe my dad requires additional care beyond what they offer here.

"Golden Pond feels like family"

Golden Pond is a truly amazing place. The aides take care of my father like he's part of their own family. They offer extra services that make their care much better than most assisted living facilities. I highly recommend it.

"Small Rooms Disappoint Despite Friendly Atmosphere"

When searching for a place to care for Mom, we checked out this spot. We had to find something fast, and they were quick to set up a tour, which was great. The place looked nice, and the person in charge was kind and helpful. However, the rooms were way tinier than other places we checked out, which was a letdown. Overall, it was okay, but it wasn't what we decided on in the end.

"Assisted Living Tour Reveals Mixed Costs"

Visited the 1 & 2 bedroom units under construction. Really liked the place, but some extra charges for services felt too high. For instance, they charge $8 to accompany a wheelchair user to each meal (adds up to $8,760 per year).

"Program Looks Solid, But Construction Concerns"

The program seems good, but the construction makes a bad first impression.

"Didn't Go; Room Choices Not Ideal for Pair"

Didn't go. The room choices weren't great for a pair.
