"Assisted Living with Improved Activities, Worth Exploring Despite Cost"

The Laurelwood community is restarting activities, reportedly good. Expensive but recommended.

"Positive start, but care fell short. Transparency lacking."

Initially positive, but care didn't meet expectations. Transparency needed.

"Headline: "Looks Can Deceive: Grueling Experience in Assisted Living Facility""

Sure, this place looks great. But don't be fooled by the fancy exterior. They'll sweet talk you and make big promises, just to get you to agree to let your family member live there. On our first tour, they even introduced us to the chef and promised my mom would be well-fed. But once she moved into their memory care unit, all she got was cold turkey sandwiches. There's no fun stuff to do and they hardly ever let her get her hair done even though we asked constantly. They didn't even take her for walks or outings. Every problem we had was met with excuses, from the uncleanliness of her room to the poor quality of meals. The staff turnover was fast and the front desk manager was just awful. She had zero consideration for privacy, discussing our bills in public areas where others could hear. Despite paying our bills every month without fail, it was clear they only cared about our money. Expect to be nickeled and dimed here. Yes, this place looks nice (though not in the memory care unit)... but that's all you're paying for... looks.

"Disappointing Care and Service at Laurelwood's Avita Memory Unit"

My review is about Avita, the memory care unit in Laurelwood. If I could rank their sales team, they'd receive an A+. They convinced us that our mom would be safe and well-looked after. She was promised weekly church visits and grooming sessions for her hair and nails (very important to her!). She was supposed to take part in stimulating activities and eat tasty meals. They said they would handle her laundry and clean her room including making her bed daily. Instead, we found residents just sitting around watching endless movies. Church visits were rare because they often didn't have enough staff. Forget about hair, nails, and other grooming services. The food was just okay. Her room was cleaned sporadically because housekeeping was always busy. They didn’t even have time to vacuum. I ended up buying a vacuum to clean her room. Every visit, I found myself cleaning her bathroom. You wouldn't believe the dust everywhere - one session needed two Swiffer dusters. Regarding laundry, there's no clear system for how it’s done. More often than not, her laundry basket was overflowing - clearly untouched for days. When it is done, clothes are missing and items from other residents are mixed in. Even worse, once I found a heavily soiled nightgown of another resident in her clean clothes. There are several better options in the South Shore area for elderly care. Don’t waste your money on this subpar service. I recommend doing serious research and considering other places.

"Disappointed: Avita's Lackluster Memory Care Services"

My mom stayed at Avita, Laurelwood's memory care unit, for around five months. Yes, the place is clean and the staff are nice, but that's about as good as it gets. The sales reps promise a lot - from engaging brain-boosting activities and delicious meals to church services and grooming services. Yet, don't be fooled, these enticing offerings are nothing more than empty promises.

"Amazing care and friendly staff; highly recommend this community"

My sister and I are very happy with this community. Since our dad moved in, he's doing well, and we feel he's in great hands. The staff is amazing and takes excellent care of him. They create a lively, positive environment for everyone. Everyone here is very kind and friendly. We love this place so much that we would live here ourselves. We highly recommend this community; it has been great for our family.

"The best place for mom, caring staff, and good food!"

Mom stayed at Curry House for about 3 weeks before she passed away, and it was the best place she could have been, other than home. The staff were caring and really listened to us. It’s a clean, friendly community. I even tried the food, and it was tasty. I’d definitely recommend this place to anyone.

"Inviting Assisted Living"

Laurelwood, located in Pine Hills, Plymouth, MA, opened its doors just last year. It's a gorgeous facility boasting spacious areas filled with sunlight and excellent views, thanks to skylights, patios, and more. Everything is impeccably maintained, creating a truly pleasant environment. The staff members I've interacted with have all been friendly and consistently attentive to the residents' needs. As someone who enjoys entertaining, I can attest to the happiness of the residents here. They're always smiling, relaxed, and eagerly participating in activities, creating a positive atmosphere. Laurelwood is not only brand new but also of top-notch quality and, above all, comfortable. It's definitely a place worth loving.

"Quality Care at Laurelwood Assisted Living"

Our time at Laurelwood has been pretty good. The place is clean, and the workers are really nice and serious about their job. They take good care of the folks here.

"Unsatisfactory service at pricey retirement home; poor communication"

A fancy and pricey retirement home for folks who can't get out and do stuff on their own. It has a ton of cool perks. The workers are polite, except for the boss - the lady who's in charge of everyone's care. She never talks or listens enough to us. She's just there to do her job and not really interested in helping out more often. It feels like she's more focused on keeping herself safe legally and getting her paycheck. Don't think she'll put in extra effort for you or your family member. If you think you're gonna need more health care or any kind of help that's not just getting dressed or tidying up, you better start looking somewhere else. They really struggle to get things done right and on time. Loads of problems. I can't even begin to list them all.

"Watch Out: Fancy Facility, Unhelpful Care Director"

This expensive place reminds me more of a fancy hotel. It has many special features for those who can't venture out into the community alone. Most of the staff are friendly, but let me tell you about the resident care director. This person seldom communicates or shows kindness. They seem to only care about paperwork, phone calls, and protecting the company legally. Don't expect her to go out of her way to help you or your loved one in any way. If you think you'll need help with medical stuff or things beyond dressing and cleaning up, you might want to consider another place. This facility's coordination is a mess. So many issues have come up, I can't even list them all.
