"Caring Community for Loved Ones"

We picked this place because the staff were really nice and professional. We also liked how it looked. They had a special program for people with Alzheimer's and dementia. The rooms were a good size, lots of space. My mother-in-law always liked the food. What I liked best was how much they cared about her. I would definitely tell others to go here.

"Assisted Living Facility Mishandles COVID Situation Severely, Causes Unnecessary Chaos"

I was going to give Linda Manor's assisted living facility a good rating, at least until last weekend. The staff is nice and the place is super clean. But something happened in late July 2020 that was just not okay and put my 90-year-old mom in serious danger. Linda Manor has been doing good by testing staff and sometimes testing the residents when it's needed. Not long ago, a staff member tested positive for COVID-19. They told us this person was isolating at home and they were gonna test all residents next. My mom tested positive on a Saturday. I was told she was being taken by ambulance to Cooley Dickinson, even though my mom didn't have any symptoms that matched the state's COVID guidelines. I later found out from the hospital that they couldn't admit her because she didn't have symptoms. They told me that Linda Manor knew they wouldn't admit mom and made me suspect if they had just sent mom to the hospital to make their COVID count look better? Cooley Dickinson suggested that she should go back home and isolate there. But no, Linda Manor’s director said she wasn't allowed home and instead should be sent to a Skilled Nursing facility in DANBURY CT, many hours away from me or my family. This facility is affiliated with Linda Manor and mainly deals with serious COVID patients. Linda Manor chose not to let mom go home to isolate. Keep in mind, Mom didn't have any symptoms, just a single swab. Friends and staff at other places told me that state guidelines encourage assisted living residents to stay put, even with COVID symptoms unless they seriously need medical services at a hospital. Linda Manor kicked out a 90-year-old woman with cognitive issues, diabetes, and other serious health issues to a hospital that wasn’t going to admit her! This felt like they panicked and didn't know how to handle the situation. This kind of thing might be acceptable early in the pandemic, like February or March, but not by the end of July 2020! Without any preparation or support like PPE, medications, a walker, or grab bars, I had to bring mom to my apartment. As much as I wouldn't want her at a SNIF, I was not set up to take care of a potentially COVID-positive elder who needs help moving around and thinking clearly, especially while I'm trying to move. I had to ask for her meds and insulin, and then they forgot to send the needles for the insulin until the next day! Her doctor suggested we test Mom again right away. Mom’s next swab was negative. Another test done later was also negative. This makes it seem like Linda Manor kicked out an elderly woman who pays her bills (and this place isn’t cheap!) because of a false positive test. They messed up her life, and ours, in such a careless, unforgivable way. If I wasn't able to step in, they would’ve sent Mom to a place with confirmed COVID patients where she could get the virus for real. To top it all, they didn’t even tell all the other residents' families about what was happening... They didn't even tell me in official terms (lucky for me, I knew cause it was about my mom).

"Mismanagement at Linda Manor During COVID-19 Crisis"

I was almost able to suggest Linda Manor until last weekend. The people there are nice and it's really clean. But a lot happened this past weekend that made me change my mind. They've been doing proper testing for their staff and sometimes their residents too, when necessary. A staff member recently tested positive and they told us that person was staying home and they would test all the residents. This weekend, my mom tested positive. I was told she was being taken to Cooley Dickinson hospital even though she didn't have any covid-19 symptoms that met the state rules. The hospital later told me that they CANNOT admit her because she had no symptoms, and they said she should go back to her home at Linda Manor. But the director at Linda Manor said she had to go to a nursing home connected to Linda Manor in DANBURY, CT, far away from me and my family, in a special unit for very sick covid patients. They wouldn't let her go back home to Linda Manor. I should mention, my mom had no symptoms, only a test saying she was positive, but I haven't even seen any medical proof. I've talked to medical staff at other facilities and they told me state rules say residents at places like Linda Manor should stay where they are, even if they're showing symptoms, unless they really need extra medical help that only a hospital can provide. I think Linda Manor sent my 90-year-old mom, who has thinking problems, diabetes and other health issues to a hospital that couldn't even take her! I think they freaked out and didn't have a plan for handling the situation, which I might understand in February or March, but not at the end of July 2020! With no warning or preparation, no protective equipment, no medicine, no walker and no ramp, I had to bring my mom to my house. I wasn't going to put her in a nursing home if she didn't need it, but I wasn't ready to take care of a possibly covid-positive elderly person with mobility and thinking problems, especially since I was in the middle of moving. I had to ask for her medicine and insulin to be sent to me, and they sent the insulin without the needles, which I didn't get until the next day! Today, my mom's second test was negative. I'm still trying to figure it out, but it seems like Linda Manor sent away a paying resident (and they're not CHEAP!) after a single false positive test, completely upsetting her and our family's lives in an unprofessional and unforgivable way. On top of that, they didn't tell all the other resident's families. In fact, they didn't even tell me (only reason I knew was because it was my mom.)

"Decent Facility with Nice Rooms but Frequent Staff Changes"

This place is okay. The people who work here switch out a lot, so it’s tough to keep things the same. They don’t really do special food for different diets. But the outside area is super cool. The rooms are a good size, and you mostly get your own room with a bathroom.

"Great Community!"

Linda Manor Assisted Living is a great community. The staff is friendly and helpful, addressing all my concerns. It’s close to family, which we loved. The place is really nice, just what we were looking for. Unfortunately, we discovered it too late in our search, as we had already chosen a different community.
