Maplewood at Mayflower Place

"Mom likes it despite initial hostility; cable/phone setup difficult"
It has been great. Mom has adjusted and even says she likes it. She was really upset when she first arrived, so this says a lot! Getting the cable and phone set up when moving in could have been easier. I wish there was a central phone service.

"Nice place with great amenities, but some adjustment needed"
She had a brain injury, and I'm a friend helping her. The staff is working hard to find the right medications for her. The place is really nice, but she has struggled a bit since moving to Maplewood. The apartments are beautiful, and if I could live there, I definitely would. It has a lot of great features.

""Regretting Maplewood: Not Prioritizing Basic Needs and Understaffing"."
We were initially thrilled about choosing Maplewood Assisted Living Facility, but some months in, we found a number of problems that were not addressed. For instance, while the landscaping at the front of the building is wonderful, the backside is unfortunately quite rough. Additionally, in other areas in Maplewood, it feels like there's not enough staff. When I visit, it often appears understaffed, with only one nurse trying to juggle care for multiple patients. We all know it is challenging to hire staff but we are not liable for that. They charge a hefty fee to ensure safety and care for the residents, which is disappointing. It seems like they are more focused on impressing corporate officials while those who actually live there and pay the monthly fees seem to be neglected. We move to such places to have our basic needs met, but here, we are left waiting for them. The facility is nice-looking and initially, we were pleased. There are a lot of great things about it, which is why we chose it, thinking it would bring us peace of mind. Unfortunately, now we are questioning our decision. I believe there are several areas of improvement that could be worked on easily. However, the decision-makers at the facility do not seem to prioritize these concerns.

"A Home Away From Home"
This place has cool stuff and you can bring your pets. It's clean, and the people working there were nice. But you can only stay for a month or longer.

"My Parents Have Help and Independence"
I think the cost structure is a lot to handle, but they’re trying their best by waiving this month’s fee. They’ve been flexible and helpful in other ways too. For example, they’re charging my mom a lower fee so she can live with my dad. The staff also assist with his medication, which is really important. My parents enjoy all the meals they serve. Even though they don’t actively participate, there are activities available when they’re ready. The staff really understand my parents and let them be independent. Overall, I’m happy with this community.
