"Nice but preferred newer facility"

I thought Orchard Valley was very nice, but the facility was kind of old, and we preferred a newer place.

"Mixed Experience with Assisted Living During Covid Outbreak"

One thing I had an issue with was how they introduced us to the place. It felt really warm and friendly. The services they offered seemed really great. But during the admissions process, I felt like they were pushing us to take more services than we really needed. Also, some things they told us beforehand didn't seem so true once we were there. To be fair, right after we moved our loved one in, there was a Covid outbreak among the staff. I think our experience would have been a lot different if that hadn't happened. I was very frustrated and upset because they had a really hard time controlling the infection. I think it started from people gathering at Thanksgiving. But seriously, you work with elderly people who are vulnerable. People need to be more aware. They struggled a lot to control the infection among the staff, and then it started spreading to the residents. My loved one did get Covid. I don't think that was her main cause of death - she had heart failure too. One thing that attracted us to Orchard Valley was that they had gone a whole year with no Covid until December. So I was impressed - they were doing something right. But maybe everyone got tired of being careful by Thanksgiving. Overall, it was a good place, but dealing with Covid was really tough for them. Some things were not okay, but some things were really good. They did a pretty good job keeping the place clean all the time, and it was a beautiful facility. They offered activities, which was great. My loved one really liked the mindfulness and aerobics activities. The care was sometimes good and sometimes not so good. She got occupational therapy and physical therapy there, and those staff were really nice. But Orchard Valley made a serious mistake with my loved one's incontinence care. We had told them she was incontinent from the beginning, but one day they called us to say she was completely out of pants and they had nothing for her. I was shocked. How does that happen? I guess these things happened because of Covid and because they didn't have enough staff. The whole situation was really hard for me. I have a weakened immune system, but they still asked me to come in and do things when there was active Covid in the facility. I did what I had to do to take care of my mother, but it made me very uncomfortable. She was only there for about six weeks, so maybe this isn't the best view of what the place is like. But this is what we went through during her time there. I will say, though, that they were incredibly helpful at the end. They gave me good guidance and were very caring. They did their best to care for her, but it's hard to do that when you don't have enough staff. They were really helpful to me and gave me good information, and I think we did everything we could for my mother in the end. And they played a big part in that because they were so helpful.

"Dissatisfied with Expensive, Poorly Communicated Care at Orchard Valley"

Orchard Valley seemed alright at first glance, but my dad's room was constantly dirty and smelled bad. I think they need to keep a closer eye on the residents who need more help, like those who might fall, especially during nighttime. It felt like they didn't have good safety plans in place. Also, their communication with us, the family, could have been much better. I realized this more when my mom moved to another place where they communicate much better. Orchard Valley wasn't worth what we paid. My dad only stayed a few days and it cost a lot. There were many surprise charges like community fees and service fees that added up real quick. I think it would have been fairer if they had a set rate for care and then only charged us for the days my dad was there.

"Quality Facility with Some Service Issues"

This assisted living community is very nice. We liked it. It was a change for my mom, but she got used to it quickly. They have a really nice garden that residents can easily go to. It's secure and feels like a park. The food is pretty good. The person who sold it to us promised more than they did. They said my mom could get help with her dog, but that never happened when we moved in. Besides that, we were happy.

"Orchard Valley: A Warm, Impressive Assisted Living Facility"

I liked Orchard Valley from the start. The facility's layout was inviting, and the staff impressed me during my tour. The clean, bright interior felt like a friendly home. I'm definitely comfortable considering it for a prospective resident.

"A Positive Experience Overall!"

So far, things are going really well. Everything has been a good experience. My loved one did say she's getting a bit bored with some of the activities. The meals are great—they even sent us home with one, and it was delicious. Overall, it's been a good experience.

"Peace of Mind for Our Family"

My family and I are so happy with the care my mom is getting at this place. It was tough for her and us at first, but now things are much better. If you're about to go through this, take your loved one to see the community. Talk to them and remind them you love them. We're really impressed with this place. The nurses and staff are great. She hasn't fallen in a while, which was a big worry for us. I love how the staff calls her by her first name and are so caring. Moving her here has given us peace of mind.

"Great people, not quite the right fit for my loved one."

We visited this place and the folks there were really friendly. They talked to us nicely and explained everything. We thought it was nice overall, but it didn't seem to be the best match for my loved one. They didn't quite meet the requirements they needed.

"Cost Concerns Amid Beauty and Friendliness"

I really like the place, but the cost worries me. My mom's using her savings to pay the $8000 monthly rent. It's steep for seniors!

"Decent Elderly Home Needs Better Staff Communication"

This community is good. They've got friendly, caring staff. The food looks tasty. But, I wish the staff would talk to each other more. They offer activities too. On balance, I'd say it's a place I'd recommend.

"A Wonderful Place for Dad"

This place is amazing, and my dad has settled in really well. I'm happy with everything they've done for us. The community looks great and is always clean. The staff is fantastic and always there when he needs help. They encourage the residents a lot and always try to get everyone involved in activities. They have fun things like bingo, movie night, wine and cheese, and more. The food is great with lots of choices. It's been a wonderful experience, and I've already recommended this place.

"Exceptional Care and Warm Environment at Orchard Valley"

My mom has been at Orchard Valley for a month and a half. The care she receives and her relationship with the staff are outstanding. I really recommend Orchard Valley to anyone looking for a great home away from home for their loved ones.

"Decent Facility, But Needs Better Communication and Care"

My family member lived here for a little while, and I thought it was a pretty good place overall, but there were some things they could do better. The place was clean and the people working there were generally friendly. We picked this place because they said they could give really good care, but they seemed to have trouble talking to each other between different nurses' shifts. A couple times, the extra helper we paid for showed up in the evening and found that my family member was wet and hadn't been changed recently. We were paying extra for better care and I didn't feel like they really gave that, they could have looked after my family member better.

"My aunt had a tough start but now loves it"

My aunt had a tough start because of many changes in a short time. Now, she sees Orchard Valley as her home and loves it. The staff, from the administration to the health care helpers, are great. The maintenance people are always ready to help too. The dining room feels like a restaurant and offers choices. There are always many activities to choose from every day. The staff’s main concern is to help the residents and their families. We are so happy we chose Orchard Valley. This is our second time choosing Orchard Valley for a loved one. The staff is wonderful and always greets us with a smile.

"Great Facility!!"

This is a great place! It's awesome! It's a bit expensive, and you need to be ready for state pay for a while. They have both independent and memory care. The outside area is really nice with a big flower garden. The residents grow tomatoes, peppers, and other things in the garden. She really loved it there.

I had an excellent meeting with the administrator before moving in. The accommodations are lovely, the dining space is great, and there are many outdoor spots to relax. It’s a very peaceful place for the residents.
