Arbor Terrace Senior Living

"Assisted Living Facility Needs Improvement, but Has Entertainment Options"
Most of the workers are great, but they keep leaving. The dining room isn't well organized, so residents wait a long time for meals, like 30 to 45 minutes after sitting down. The rent is really high for what they offer, and families end up doing a lot extra to keep their loved ones happy, like laundry, cleaning, and making sure they're clean. They can only help with doctor's appointments on Mondays, and everyone wants Mondays. These are some of the problems. But they do have nice musicians who visit to entertain both staff and residents.

"Friendly staff but communication could be improved."
The workers at Arbor Terrace Senior Living are really nice and helpful. They've been super helpful in helping my mom adjust. I talk to them a lot. I think this place is good and I've told my family and friends to check it out if they need a safe place for their loved ones.

"Poor Hygiene, Lousy Care at Arbor Terrace Lanham"
Please do some investigating before you bring a family member to live at this place. It might look good on the outside and in the front halls, but the rooms are crazy dirty and the care they give isn't that great. While we helped my aunt pack up to leave here, we found garbage under furniture, messy sheets mixed with clean ones, even garbage in her closet, and nasty razors in her nightstand. Her windows were broken and they used cardboard and tape to fix them. There were even yucky poop stains on the walls. Besides, the folks in charge don't talk enough to us family members, and they're not sure about how they handle medicines and food. Often, we'd find my aunt, who has dementia, lying in bed in the dark staring at the wall because no one bothered to turn on a light or the TV. I'm definitely going to report Arbor Terrace Lanham because this isn't a place anyone should have to live.

"Great Value and Caring Staff at Arbor Terrace"
We chose Arbor Terrace Senior Living because it was in a good location and offered a lot for a lower price than other places we checked out. The food had to be mashed up and didn't look or taste good. But when I complained, the chef came and talked to us, and we got it fixed. I would highly recommend them to others because they do whatever they can to make the residents happy and solve any problems you have.

"Mixed Experience with Assisted Living"
Initially, our experience was excellent—5 stars! The director, who was there from, impressed us and was great to work with. However, after she left, certain things declined. We're not a needy family, but when it comes to helping our loved one, the response time is extremely slow. Sometimes it takes days or even weeks to get a response, which could be improved.

"Promising Staff and Upgrades, Some Room for Improvement"
Our visit to Arbor Terrace was pretty good. It's an older place, so the rooms were a bit dull and small and could use some updating. But the staff was really great. They are working on improving their memory care with something new called the Bridges program, although it wasn't fully ready when we visited, so it didn't quite meet our loved one's needs at that time.

"Excellent New Assisted Living Facility with Friendly Staff and Beautiful Environment"
The staff here are super friendly and have been amazing. The building is brand new and really pretty. My family member loves the food and enjoys her room a lot. This is a place where she's happy to be, even though she had to leave her home after 50 years.

"Not Quite Right: A Mixed Experience at Arbor Terrace"
Arbor Terrace looks like a good place. When we visited, there was music playing and the staff were all nice and caring. It just didn't feel like the best choice for my mom.

"Assisted Living Facility Falls Short of Expectations"
We only got a quick look around because Mom wasn't feeling well. It seemed nice, but it's not what we need. We wanted a place where she could do more on her own. And it's too expensive. The fanciest one-bedroom we saw was $4,500 a month.

"Frustrating Wait Times at Arbor Terrace's Assisted Living Facility"
Firstly, my wife and I had to go to an assisted living facility where she could get full care while I recovered from a hernia operation. We heard that Arbor Terrace could provide this care. We really liked the facility at first glance. It was clean and lovely with friendly people and a warm home-like atmosphere. However, we were under the impression that, when we needed help, all we had to do was signal and someone would arrive within 10 minutes max. Sadly, this was not our experience. We often found ourselves waiting 45 minutes or more. Once, I asked an aide why it took so long to answer our call and she told me she was busy helping another resident. She was supposed to call for backup when busy, but apparently, they were busy too. This situation was particularly terrible during meal times when the staff were busy taking residents to the dining room. If an emergency occurred during this time, it could become a real crisis.

"Concerns Raised Over Arbor Terrace Care Standards"
Arbor Terrace Facility in Lanham, Maryland may seem top-notch with its range of activities, food options, and in-house services. The staff is friendly, but there aren't many of them around. They don't keep track of how much water residents drink or how much they eat. They also don't seem to consistently check on their overall health. One family said their mom ended up in the hospital four times in one year because she wasn't drinking enough water. We asked the 'nursing' team to help our parents drink more water, but they said it would violate the patients' rights. After our mom fell down, they didn't even know how long she'd been lying on her room floor because they don't have a system to regularly check rooms.

"Great Location and Clean Facilities"
My tour of this place went well. The community looked nice and clean. I really liked this community. It was one of the closest to us, which is important when choosing a place for my dad. It was a nice tour, and this is a good community.

"Thrilled by the Activities!"
My parents are getting great care here at this community. The staff is lovely, helpful, and kind. There are fun activities for residents, like the aviator club where my father got to fly in an airplane. The food is delicious, and my parents feel safe and happy. I recommend it.

"Friendly Staff and Pleasant Environment"
It was nice. I got there late for the tour, and Deanne was already showing another family around. But one of the guys who worked there helped me out. I didn't have much time to look around, but I remember that the dining area looked nice. The guy who showed me around gave me a lot of useful info about moving in. Deanne called me the next day to ask what I thought about the visit, which I appreciated.

"A Shady Care Facility, Stay Way Clear!"
I wouldn't let these folks babysit a pet hamster. They were super pushy, trying to get my dad to live there from his nursing home. They knew he was only getting half as much retirement money as they usually charge each month. They also knew about his $15,000 in savings and that he was waiting for his veterans pension to be okayed. They drained his bank account in just six weeks with tons of extra fees, made him live in a room he couldn't afford, and when they saw his money was almost gone, they made up stories about him and kicked him out. Now, they're trying to get about $1,000 more from me, even though he already paid for the services they're charging for, and I'm not supposed to pay his bills. They also have a bunch of local social workers that steer people to them; a bunch of these social workers used to work there. It's a top-notch scam.

"Decent Assisted Living Option, but Room for Improvement"
My brother had to move to The Residence on short notice for a temporary stay to check out his options. Unfortunately, he got really sick and couldn't explore elsewhere. I checked out a few places quickly, and The Residence seemed less fancy, which was better for him. They also had a good program to help new folks settle in. His time there was pretty crazy because of his health and not having local doctors yet. But the staff were really helpful. The few people we met seemed happy there. They had lots of activities, like movie nights with popcorn. Our situation was weird, so I'm not sure if our problems were normal. Maybe a nursing home would've been better, but we didn't have time to check. I think the staff tried hard, but my brother complained about slow responses when he needed help, and I had to wait a long time to get in after 6:30 PM. They did a lot to help us settle in, and most people were nice. My brother felt like some staff didn't speak English well, but I thought they were okay. In better circumstances, The Residence on Greenway might've been great for my brother.

"Caring Place for Mom: The Residence at Greenbelt Review"
The Residence at Greenbelt is super friendly. The person who showed my aunt and me around was really helpful. The room I checked out for my mom would be just right for her. I like the services they have. It's a little expensive, but my mom is totally worth it. Knowing she's in a place where she'll get what she needs to improve her life and have some independence gives me peace of mind.

"Serious Disappointment: Unhygienic Conditions and Unresponsive Management"
Our experience at this assisted living facility was truly disappointing. The apartment of our relative got heavily infested by mice. Despite constant complaints, the management showed little effort to fix the issue. The unhygienic conditions led to our loved one falling ill and requiring hospitalization. Shockingly, even on her return from hospital, we found no cleaning had been done. Her dirty laundry was as we had left it. Now that we have shifted her elsewhere, the management is making it difficult for us to reach the billing department for settling the final expenses. I would dissuade anyone from choosing this place for their dear ones.

"Nice Staff and Facility, But Expensive Community Fee"
I visited this place, and the workers and the building are nice. However, it's expensive. I didn't like the Community Fee of $3000. This fee isn't given back, even if you stay for a while. It's for preparing the room and getting things ready. To me, it means they paint, change the sheets, and clean the floor. I think it's an unnecessary cost. I told them about it, but they haven't replied.

"Warm Staff and Friendly Atmosphere Make It a Great Choice"
My aunt moved to the Residences after two tough years. She had many hospital stays and months in nursing homes, which made the decision to move very hard. We also looked at other types of homes. Even though she wanted to stay in DC, she chose the Residences because of the friendly staff and the good atmosphere. During our first visit, many residents warmly welcomed her and shared their experiences. She felt welcomed, open to new friendships, and excited about her new home. Although she's had some ups and downs and a few concerns, she's adjusting well and enjoying her new room and suite-mate. It was the right choice.
