"Elderly Man Suffers Unexplained Injuries at Assisted Living Home"

My grandpa, who was a full century old, lived at this place for around two and a half years. One day, we got a call about an "incident" that was severe enough that they had to dial 911. The strange thing was, my grandpa turned down any medical help. We ended up taking him to the hospital, where it was clear he had been badly injured - he had major bruising all over his chest and back. A representative from the hospital who specializes in detecting abuse took down details and snapped pictures. Even with all this, the cops couldn't find any concrete evidence of abuse. Yet the facility kept changing their story about what happened. The only sensible explanation for their call to the emergency line is that something serious occurred. My grandpa's death was unrelated, but we're positive someone harmed him. He said the only thing he did was request a glass of water in the middle of the night. I urge you, don't consider this place as a home for your beloved family members.

"Bruises and Doubts: Caution Against Brightview Facility"

For two and a half years, my hundred-year-old father-in-law lived in the Brightview assisted living facility. One day, we got a call that there had been an "incident", and 911 had been notified. Despite my father-in-law refusing medical attention initially, a trip to the hospital revealed alarming, severe bruising on his chest and back. Despite the hospital's abuse representative documenting the evidence, the police were unable to "prove" any abuse took place. Even more suspiciously, Brightview kept changing their story about the incident. The only logical reason to call 911 would be if something severe had transpired. My father-in-law has since passed away because of unrelated causes. However, before his death, he told us that he simply asked for some water during the night, right before the incident occurred. We believe someone at the facility seriously harmed him. Therefore, I urge you earnestly: please do not entrust your beloved family members to this facility.

"Thank goodness for Brightview South River!"

I have loved Brightview South River for 3 years now. They take care of my Aunt like she is their own family member. The place is clean and friendly. From the Director, who always listens and has been very creative in tricky situations, to the nurses and support staff, everyone is great. The admissions lady was honest about what they could and couldn’t do from the start, and they have kept their promises. Thank goodness for Brightview South River! I don’t know what I would have done without them!

"Terrible Staffing and Care at This Assisted Living Facility"

This assisted living facility is truly terrible. I spoke with a resident whose husband was suffering from cancer and was only allowed to see their doctor. His final moments here were spent with just Tylenol D for pain relief. The employees here are forced to do a lot of things that aren't really part of their jobs, making them pretty unhappy with their work situation. They don't have enough staff either. During my visit, I heard the staff members mocking the music playing and griping about their work. It's clear that the residents aren't the main concern here. The facility may look good on the outside, but don't be fooled, it's just a front. I really wouldn't recommend placing your relative here.

"Horrifying Assisted Living Facility Neglects Residents"

This assisted living facility is terrible. One resident told me her husband, who had cancer, was only allowed to see their own doctor. They gave him nothing more than Tylenol D when he was passing away. The employees have to do a lot of things they're not supposed to, making them unhappy. They don't have enough people working there. When I visited, the workers were making fun of the music and complaining about their jobs. The residents aren't given enough attention. Even though the building looks good, it's just for show. Don't let your loved ones stay here.

"Not Worth the Price: Insufficient Care, Despite Daily Activities"

This place lacks sufficient staff to look after the residents. The surroundings are beautiful and very well-maintained. They do have a secure section for folks who need memory care. There are a variety of activities on offer. However, the actual support provided isn't great given what you pay. I wouldn't advise choosing this place.

"Favor Another Facility for Our Needs"

This place is nice, but we like another one better.

"Everything was great! Highly recommend this community!"

We absolutely fell in love with this place. It’s pretty new and super clean. The staff was so thoughtful and always ready to help with anything we needed. When my parents need this kind of care, I’ll definitely be sending them here. I’m really impressed!

"A Nice Tour"

This community was nice and clean. The staff were very friendly. The food was good and appealing. They offer a lot of nice activities.

"Decent tour, well-maintained; another community more appealing for parents."

The tour was okay. The community seemed well-maintained, staff friendly. Another community appealed more. Not right for my parents.

"Decent Facility Tour, Friendly Staff, But Not Our Choice"

The tour of this place was okay. Most of the place looked good. The people working there were nice and friendly. I saw another place that I liked better. This one wasn't right for my parents.

"Concerns about Wellspring Memory Care Unit’s Operation"

Since moving our mom from BV to Wellspring Memory Care, we've noted a few issues. 1. No formal orientation was provided about the services, facilities, or daily routines for the memory unit. For instance, we weren't told when cleaning, change of bed sheets, and activities would occur. 2. Problems with odors have been a constant within the hallway and in mom's room. 3. After taking our mom out, we returned to find another resident sleeping in her bed. It was then casually suggested that we could use a special door knob for added privacy. 4. While the staff are generally friendly, the detachment they show from residents and their jobs hints at a management issue. Many routines lack common sense. For example, the staff checks on residents at night due to some residents' sleep issues but they often leave the TV on. Turning it off seems logical. Also, why does the night staff need to disrupt sleep by emptying the bathroom trash. Management should conduct random checks during all shifts to ensure staff treat residents like their own family and to improve the overall facility.

"Major Changes and Declines in Assisted Living Facility"

Wow, what a change. When I couldn't visit my sister-in-law because I was sick in 2014, this place was nice. Now, it's a huge mess. The once professional receptionist is now more like a hair stylist, and you can barely see or hear her because of her huge hair and long nails. A lot of the staff have left too, like he, the cook, and the maintenance guy, whose name I don't know. he used to be the manager or the head guy in charge, and he was the best. He made us feel welcome, even offering us tea. Now, some lady is running around, and she's not professional at all. She doesn't even interact with the residents, especially in the memory care section. And the other staff just sit around outside all day, doing nothing. I can't believe this is the same place where I used to bring my line dancing group. It's embarrassing. The new leader of this place must be ruining it. They never do any activities with the residents like before. Even though the assistants wear nice uniforms, they aren't pleasant people. It's like I don't know any of them, and they need to learn how to interact with people. This place is just too sad. For $2,000 a month, you would expect better. One lady told me she's paying over $9,000 a month for her relative in the memory care area. I can't believe how bad things have gotten there. They're even thinking about finding a new place for their family member. This place has a gloomy, evil vibe to it now. I can't recommend it to anyone. If you have a loved one there, make sure to visit often. The staff don't seem to care about their residents, and they aren't trained to provide the kind of care they need. The housekeeping is good sometimes, and the common areas are nice. But it feels like they only care about how things look, not how they actually are. And on top of all that, they raise the cost every year by $200 to $800 a month. This used to be a great place with a mix of wonderful, caring people. Now, it seems like they only hire unqualified people. It's really sad.

"Decline in Service Quality; Staff Not Vetted or Trained"

Oh boy, what a mess this place has become. I recall visiting my sister-in-law here back in 2014 before I got sick, and the change now is woefully distressing. Once greeted warmly by a professional receptionist, the front desk now feels like a casual hair salon dominated by an immature girl with often covered eyes and flashy nails; she's not what I'd call a concierge. Moreover, the friendly staff that used to work here, like the cook and the dedicated maintenance guy (whose names escape me), are just gone. And what happened to the engaging manager, I believe? He was always welcoming, pouring us tea and making us feel at home. Now a lady, dressed unprofessionally and eating snacks, seems to be in charge with no apparent interaction with the residents. The staff on break in the porch don't bother greeting anyone either. I felt mortified on my recent visit when I brought my line dance group in; what a disgrace! And the blame lies with the new Executive Director, I assume, whose oversight has brought this once vibrant establishment to such a dismal state. Activities for residents, once promised, are now nonexistent. The newly hired staff may wear fancy uniforms, but they lack the courtesy and grace of their predecessors. What upsets me more is the extravagant cost. An acquaintance of mine, whose spouse resides in the dementia wing, pays over $9,000 a month and is deeply saddened by the place's decline. I've heard that this family is now looking for a new home for their loved one, reflecting their disappointment in the facility's deteriorating quality of care. Though housekeeping does still maintain cleanliness in common areas, it merely seems to mask the superficial improvement of this otherwise melancholy place. Adding insult to injury, prices keep increasing annually, varying between $200 to $800. The area's appeal contrasts sharply with the facility's declining standards. Whoever took the reins for hiring seems to have selected a homogenous team that lacks the care and diversity the previous staff had. All I can advise anyone considering this facility for a loved one is to visit regularly and monitor the level of care closely, because the current staff appear disinterested and inadequately trained for the necessary care.

""From Decent to Disappointing: Horrid Smell and Understaffed Facility""

Last year, it used to be alright. Now, it's not so great. It's understaffed, causing the residents to keep themselves preoccupied in a tiny TV room. It has this awful stink. I wouldn't want my mom or dad to stay there.

"Downhill Quality, Neglects Residents, Terrible Odor"

A year back it was okay, but not anymore. They don't have enough staff, and the folks living there have to pass their time all alone in a tiny TV room. The place stinks horribly. I surely wouldn't send my mom or dad to stay there.

"Terrible Experience at 'Well Spring Village'"

Well Spring Village’ doesn’t live up to its name. Everyone there is in bad shape. The place has a real pee smell. It doesn’t look like there are any activities. It’s tough to leave once you get in. My grandma can't stand it, we're moving her.

"Avoid This Facility: Urine Stench, Lack of Staff, NO Communication"

The workers are doing everything they can, but it's obvious that the dementia ward doesn't have enough help. The whole place reeks like pee. It seems like everyone is just merely living, without any engagement. DO NOT place your family member in this facility. Total lack of communication!

"Avoid if in Need of Memory Care - It's Not Ideal"

If your mom or dad requires care for memory troubles, get out of there quick! The overwhelming smell is pee, and you can't avoid it. The numbers of staff compared to the residents are tremendously low. For fun, residents just sit in a tiny room to watch TV. You can barely find anyone in the management. The staff are really exhausted, and while many of them are genuinely nice, some aren’t.

This place is wonderful! Suzie, the head nurse, was a lifesaver. The facility is big, and there are nice activities.

I had to move my mom to a facility quickly. Brightview staff have been very helpful during this tough time.

"Assisted Living Facility: From Luxury to Discount Store"

This spot used to be ideal for your family members. But things have changed for the worse. Good staff left and they've hired low-quality aides. Now, it feels like a nursing home with careless, loud workers. The residents just sit around, bored because the staff doesn't interact. The supposed social hotspot, the bistro, is always empty. There are no refreshments for visitors and we hardly see any supervisors around. My cousin noticed workers giving visitors mean looks while taking over the TVs for their own entertainment. No supervisors in sight! Too much nonsense happens, it's like being at a school. The cost is steep and they control your bank account. They rope you in, keep increasing the rates, while giving you less. They belittle you. It's all a business scam. This corporation is money-minded. They want all your cash but provide mediocre services. Folks are leaving. I'm searching for a better place for my brother. This place used to be a luxury boutique, now it's just a discount store.

"GREEDLED CORPORATION RUINS A ONCE-DREAM COMMUNITY."

This used to be an excellent place for your loved one. But gradually, it changed. The good staff at BVSR left and were replaced by low-grade staff you'd usually find in subpar nursing homes. It's turned into an average nursing home with distracting, carefree workers. This is the new standard for pretty much all the roles now. I can hardly distinguish between this and a regular shopping center. It's full of residents with nothing to do, with staff who don't bother to interact. The bistro that was promised as a bustling hub of social interaction is always empty. No coffee machines or refreshments for visitors. No presence of supervisors or health staff checking on the residents. No managers are overseeing the staff! My niece has noticed the staff blatantly staring at visitors while being glued to the TV, watching soaps or inappropriate movies when they should be doing their job. There is zero supervision. The back of Bright View feels like a children's playground with the immature behavior of the employees. The cost of living here is steep and corporate keeps a tight grip on your finances. They get you in and keep increasing the prices while offering you less. You're left feeling helpless. It's all just a corporate tactic. They've become money-hungry, wanting to take every cent you have whilst giving no improved service and reducing the quality of service. They keep you trapped. People are beginning to leave. I'm actively looking for a new place for my brother. This place went from designer to discount store.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"

The place has good and bad points. I'm not super happy with it right now. It's clean and the staff is nice. They try to help even more than I thought. They have a happy hour and found out what wine she likes, and made sure to have it. They try to get her involved in activities, but sometimes they're full. Maybe they should have a waiting list for popular ones. There aren't many smokers, but the smoking area isn't comfy. They've fixed it for now, but I'm not sure about winter. They want us to use their pharmacy for everything, even stuff we can buy cheaper elsewhere. Also, there were charges on the bill we didn't okay, and they were big. We were clear about wanting to know about extra charges when we signed up.

"Good aspects and staff, but concerns with activities and charges."

Some good aspects, but multiple concerns too. I'm not currently super impressed. The place is clean, the people working there are nice. They make the extra effort in ways you wouldn't foresee. They even have a social hour and picked up on her favorite wine, so they make sure to provide it. The staff tries to encourage her to join in on different activities. But, she's tried to sign up for various activities and they keep being full even after many attempts. I'm not sure they maintain a waiting list for the popular activities to ensure every resident gets a chance. Not a lot of the residents smoke, and there isn't a decent zone for them. They're trying to fix this, but I'm not confident it'll be good enough when winter arrives. They insist on using their own pharmacy, even for non-prescription items like vitamins, which are cheaper elsewhere. Also, there were some pretty big unexpected costs on the first bill that we didn't approve of, despite being pretty clear about wanting to know about any extra charges.

"Great community with friendly staff and lots of activities"

Brightview is a newer community with a really nice building. We liked it a lot and it was one of our top two choices. The only reason we didn't pick it was that the other place had a beautiful view of the river. Brightview is in a great spot with easy access to shopping, restaurants, and other places. The staff is really friendly and they offer lots of activities for the residents. We would recommend this place to anyone.
