"Friendly Staff, Poor Communication, Disappointing Food"
The folks here are real nice. The staff are cheerful, but they don't really communicate well. We first chose this place because the salesperson knew their stuff, and it looked good during our visit. But afterwards, it wasn't really pleasant. The food's awful, it's always cold, and most times, my loved one doesn't even get the meal they asked for.

"Considering Brookdale Woodward Estates: Good Tour, Older Facility"
We visited Brookdale Woodward Estates and it was pretty good. We might choose it. While touring, we didn't see any activities, but the residents looked relaxed, watching TV together. The boss cares a lot about old folks and the place. I liked how friendly he was. I didn't rate it higher because it's an older building, so it doesn't have all the updates I wanted. But that's the main downside for me.

"Assisted Living Facility Review"
This place is near us, but it has many floors, and it's kind of confusing. I thought my family member might find it confusing too and have trouble getting around. The person who showed us around was nice, but they kept calling and emailing even after I said we already found a place. It was a bit too much.

"Great food, clean facility, and excellent COVID-19 response"
My mother felt at home at Brookdale Woodward Estates after visiting eight other places. Her studio apartment is a good size. She LOVES the food and is actually gaining weight. She talks about how great the food is every day and really likes the chef. They get to choose their own menus, and there's a lot to pick from. My favorite thing about this community is how well they’ve handled COVID and kept families informed. The facility is also very clean, which is important to my mom.

"Mixed feelings about Brookdale assisted living; communication and security concerns."
Brookdale seems nice, well-kept, and priced like others I checked. They offer lots of activities and pleasant areas. However, it's tough to get in touch with staff. Only the Concierge answers calls; after 8 pm, it's supposed to be the duty nurse, but I've never reached one. Also, the security felt questionable; I was buzzed in once but didn't know who did it.

The rooms were pretty big and had good medical help, but I'm not sure the staff paid enough attention to the residents like I hoped.

"Scheduled Tour Missed, Dim Hallways But Spacious Rooms"
The person who was supposed to show us around never arrived and didn't let the staff know about our scheduled tour. The hallways look narrow and dimly lit. Despite this, the rooms are pretty big and the one-bedroom even comes with a tiny cooking area.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
My mom lived here for three years, and even though she got sicker, the staff was always nice and took good care of her. They made sure she didn’t get bedsores, which is impressive. But sometimes the staff is too busy to answer calls quickly. The place looks nice after a recent makeover, but the doors are still heavy and not wheelchair-friendly. Only the front lobby door opens automatically. The food is okay, but service can be slow. They have activities every day, but they mostly cater to the African American religious community. If you like swing or classical music, you’re out of luck.

"Avoid Brookdale Assisted Living: Absolutely Unacceptable Care"
Bowie, Maryland's Brookdale assisted living is terrible. If you truly care for your family, I highly advise choosing a different facility. My grandpa experienced dreadful conditions there. He would push the assistance button and end up waiting 5 to 6 hours before anyone showed. Even when he fell, it took them ages to respond. For close to a week, his toilet was overflowing with human waste because no one bothered to fix it. I ended up having to deal with it myself. Several times, my grandpa fell and had to call me for help. I would arrive and help him up before any staff member showed up. So, if you want genuine care and prompt aid when your family needs it, don't pick this place.

"**Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility**"
should not have visited this community second, not fair to compare. We toured with the dining service director since the marketing director was not avaiable not did she follow up. He was pleasant and interacted with the residences . Observed some activities. The building and rooms were adequate, clean but overall needs repair. Saw overflowing trash containers outside. Did not observe food service. Table cloths on table, no assigned seating the residents formed their own groups. Pull cord in bathroom, alarm on body, fees charged for personal care, did not ask and was not told about fees for special services, ie. medication monitoring, personal personal help and diet, menu generic, no imagination, gets feedback from residences for meal planning. Plans to start a garden with residences so they can eat what they grow. But since a lot of what I learned as plans for the future was from someone involved with food service. The location of the facility was good. It was in Bowie which is where her home was as well as neighbors and friends. I hope I am not leaving any important info out. Security is not being able to exit unless the receptionist buzzes the door open. Simplified Version: We visited this community and noticed some issues. The building and rooms were okay but need repairs. Trash containers were overflowing outside. Food service wasn't observed. Residents sat wherever they wanted. Fees for personal care weren't clear. The location was good, but security required buzzing to exit.

"Inconsistent Service and Demeanor in Senior Facility"
My experience here has been less than satisfactory. When my mother requests help, she often waits for 30 to 45 minutes before someone responds. This isn't just a one-time thing; I've seen it happen when I'm visiting, and mom says it's recurring. Additionally, some staff members demonstrate a rude attitude towards the seniors, particularly during meal times when they require something. However, I am happy with the office staff, receptionists, activities director, nursing staff, and rehabilitation team.

"Welcoming Community"
My mom settled in well at this place. I was a bit nervous at first, but they've really put my mind at ease. The community looks awesome, and it's always clean. Mom tried some new activities and loves the food. Their helpfulness impressed me. Everyone is friendly and kind. Mom made new friends. I'm happy with this community and would recommend it.

"Frequent Staff Changes and Poor Services at Assisted Living Facility."
I quickly relocated my mom from this facility. The staff rotated frequently and it was obvious that they were discontent. Keeping track of who they were became difficult because they wouldn't stick around. The carpet in mom's room was always dirty, regardless of how many times we requested a cleaning. This center isn't suitable for individuals suffering from dementia. There were instances when the workers passed by, ignoring calls from the residents. An fellow resident once warned me, "You should take your mother out of here because she's not getting proper treatment.

"Hard to believe any good reviews about Woodward Estates!"
My family member has lived here for a good while. The leadership team just can't communicate well and they never answer emails we send. When we try to leave a phone message for a leader, we can't, and when we do get to leave a message with the front desk, it hardly gets to the right person. It's disappointing how many key bosses have come and gone since my family member has lived here, including four building managers and four head nurses. Clothes get lost or ruined, one staffer's dog runs around everywhere, and the food is just okay. The worst part is they serve dessert twice a day, even though my family member has diabetes. Honestly, there are more issues but I don't feel like writing them all down. We did find some really nice people working here, but they leave too quickly. The rent and the cost of personal services are going up again, so we have to look for a new place for our family member. We can't vouch for Woodward Estates.

"Nice place with a few small issues"
Overall, we're happy with Emeritus at Woodward Estates! It looks nice and has a calm, peaceful feeling. The staff are friendly and take good care of everyone. My loved one likes the food, though she thinks the dining service could be faster. But overall, it's a good place and I would suggest it to others.

"Great Place Overall, Needs Better New Resident Orientation"
I really like Emeritus at Woodward Estates. The place looks nice and clean, and the rooms are big and pretty considering the cost. The people who work there are super nice, and they have tons of fun stuff to do. My only thing is they should help new folks feel more at home when they first arrive. My family member has been there a few weeks now, and there hasn't been any kind of welcome or info session.

"Friendly Staff and Clean Facility"
Overall, I think Emeritus at Woodward Estates does a very good job! The staff are all very friendly and take great care of the residents. The facility is always well kept and clean. My loved one often complains about the food, so that's something they could improve. We've also had a few communication mix-ups, but I'm not sure if that's their fault or our doctors'. Overall, it's a nice place and definitely worth checking out!

"Room for Improvement"
You really have to work with the staff to make everything smooth for seniors. They didn’t tell us clearly what we needed for my dad. I didn’t see a list, maybe there was one. They changed it to a dining room setup. The food isn’t always hot, and sometimes they run out.

"Assisted Living Facility Shows Positive Changes for Improvement"
This place is getting better all the time! They're fixing up the building, training the staff better, and improving how things work. We picked it mainly because it's in a good spot, there's lots to do, and the rooms are nice. The food always looks tasty, and from what I've tried, it's good. Just make sure you talk to the staff and managers so they know you're involved in your care.

"Struggled to Communicate After Tour"
We visited this place when searching for care for our family member. The tour went well, but afterwards, reaching out to them became a challenge. The communication wasn't good. We had just left a place where the staff didn't pay attention and didn't respond, and we were worried this place might be the same. So, we chose not to go with it.

"High Regards"
I really appreciate their care. Although there was a slow response once, overall it’s been positive. The cost is high, but that’s common. With 24/7 help, three meals daily, and engaging activities, it’s worth it. Not perfect, but I recommend them. Plus, the location near a big shopping center is fantastic!

"Improving Assisted Living: More Activities, Better Communication"
It's getting better since they got a new manager. At first, it wasn't great. My sisters went to meetings and complained about the staff not engaging residents. But with some meetings, things are improving. They've added more activities and are communicating better. They're encouraging residents to participate more and not just sit around. Overall, it's much better now.
