"Caring Staff, Communication Needed"

The visiting hours were restricted even before COVID. I wish there were more engaging activities for residents. Communication with families needs improvement. The staff is caring and doing their best.

"Stay Clear: Poor Conditions and Rude Management"

The folks living there hardly have any fun stuff to do all day. It feels like they're always short staffed because people keep leaving. Plus, this guy Ted, so rude! It's like he's constantly in a bad mood.

"Assisted Living Facility Falls Short on End-of-Life Promise"

My mom had Alzheimer's. We picked Dulaney Valley. It felt cozy. Mr. T was nice, but staff changed a lot. His wife, the nurse, assured no outside care needed. When Mom struggled to eat, nurse warned it's downhill. Mom worsened while I was away. Took forever for hospice care paperwork. Where was the promised care? Hospice info said it could've been arranged earlier. Dulaney Valley was too busy with renovations. Mom suffered. Last words were heartbreaking.

"Care Compromised by Expansion and Renovation at Dulaney Valley"

My mom struggled with Alzheimer's disease for a long time. We decided to place her in Dulaney Valley because it was starting to be unsafe for her at home, as she'd bump into furniture and walls. Dulaney Valley seemed cozy and was conveniently located, making it easy to visit her. The staff was frequently changed, but Mr. T was always there and my mom felt comfortable around him. His wife is the nurse who also visits other centers run by their son. She assured us that nursing needs and end-of-life care would be offered on-site. Over time, my mom started having trouble eating, a sign that her health was declining. When I came back from a trip to visit my daughter, I was informed on a call from the nurse that my mom's health had taken a turn for the worse. When I went to see her, I was shocked at how much she had deteriorated in just two weeks. Seeing her in such pain was heart-wrenching. I had to arrange to meet another nurse, wait for the doctor (who was out of town), all while my mother was in terrible pain. The promise of end-of-life care I had been given by Dulaney Valley, was nowhere in sight. It was unbearably slow and distressing to deal with. I later learned from hospice literature that we could have set up care plans six months ago. It seemed their focus on adding more centers and renovating Dulaney Valley took priority over my mother's much-needed comfort and care. My mother had difficulties with speech because of her disease but, the last thing she said haunts me to this day, "I hurt."

"Cozy, but Small: A Homely Assisted Living Experience"

This place was smaller than what we expected. The people who worked there were friendly. It felt cozy, even though the building is old. There was just a small deck outside. Not much was happening when we visited.

"Cozy but compact facility with friendly staff and limited activities."

This place was smaller than others we looked at. The people working there were friendly. It felt comfortable, like a home, even though the building is old. Outside, there's just a small deck. There weren't many things happening when we visited.
