"Tour was nice, but cost was high."
We had a nice tour at HeartHomes at Piney Orchard. However, it was too pricey for our family.

"The Good and the Not-So-Good"
Sometimes there were issues, but they fixed them right away. The staff really cares about my sister, even when she’s a bit grumpy. They keep me informed and answer my questions. The place is beautiful, with a lake for walks. Lots of food options, too. It’s convenient for family visits. We use their doctor and pharmacy. Only thing: the pharmacy should offer 90-day supplies instead of 30-day ones. Not sure why it’s different here in Maryland. Also, there’s an unexpected charge for picking up test results. Not a fan of that.

Concerned relative
"Manager's unprofessional conduct and insufficient care dominates facility"
While most of the personnel at this assisted living facility are kind and hospitable, unfortunately, the same sentiment doesn't extend to the management. The supervisor is impolite and insufficiently trained in people management; her 'know-it-all' attitude is not well received. Furthermore, she fails to effectively communicate with families, instead delegating this responsibility to other staff members. Positive responses are received only for inquiries - this seems to be her sole area of professionalism. As far as the care provided to our loved ones, it is woefully insufficient. Hygiene needs are hardly prioritized, with regular showers being rare. Clothing mishaps are frequent with clothes either misappropriated or outright lost. Urgent attention from state officials is necessary to address these systemic issues. I'm proud to report that we moved our mom out of this facility after a few difficult months here. Despite numerous complaint filings, management remained unresponsive, simply claiming ignorance. The circumstances are truly unfortunate as the facility itself is well-constructed and could serve as a fantastic living quarters for the elderly. If only it housed a competent manager, who unfortunately has plagued the institution for over a decade now.

"Caring staff, but recent changes and staffing issues noted"
The staff here are really caring and kind to the residents. Sometimes, especially on weekends, there haven't been enough staff members. I believe they need a dedicated cook who doesn’t also have to help the residents. We have a new manager now, and they don’t seem to interact with the family members as well as the previous one did.

"Lack of caregiving and activities led to family's relocation."
My family had a relative staying here for roughly a year. Unfortunately, the level of care started decreasing after a few months so, we had to relocate them. I wouldn't advise anyone to pick this place if you want your family member to be well taken care of. The employees seem always unenergetic and there aren't enough of them compared to the number of people living there. What's more, the people who stay here never do any activities - they just stare at the TV all day.

A Place For Mom Customer
"“Cozy, Caring Assisted Living!”"
Really nice place! The rooms are a bit small, but they feel cozy—more like bedrooms than hospital rooms. The beds have pretty quilts, and the wood furniture is nice. There’s even a comfy chair or rocker. With 16 patients and two living areas, it’s private when I visit. The terrace has a gazebo and leads to a small park with a pond. They take residents out there for sunshine and fresh air. The weekend staff is super caring.
