"Negligence at Assisted Living Facility: Missed Emergency Calls"
My dad rang the alarm for help after he fell but no one came. He'd already tried to call for staff so he could use the restroom, but since no one showed up, he tried to go by himself and fell. When no one came after his fall, I rang many times with no response. I had to drive there and let the front desk know what happened. The nurses confessed that they have too many residents to handle! Apparently, the emergency bell system rings at the desk and then stops. It won't ring again unless it's reset, even if the resident pulls the cord again. If the first ring is missed, they don't know someone's in trouble. Even worse, if they answer the ring but don't reset the system, the resident can't call for help again!

"Clean but Pricey, Short Presentation"
I visited this place and it was alright. It was clean and the people working there were nice, but it cost a bit more than some of the other places I looked at. Also, the presentation and tour didn't last as long as the ones I saw at other places.

"Mixed Feelings on Assisted Living Facility"
The helpers here are nice, but there aren’t enough of them to look after all the folks, which can lead to some problems. I’m not happy with how they handle the bills because they don’t give out the bill statements like they should, and you gotta ask to get them. Plus, you can’t even find them online. It looks like just two people are running the whole place, and they might be the ones doing the billing too. I think the part of the place where people get help with daily stuff is better than the part where they take care of people with memory issues, and that’s mostly 'cause people have more freedom.

"Mixed Experience"
When we visited, the place smelled bad, which was disappointing. The staff seemed caring, but it wasn’t right for my mom.

"Assisted Living Visit Review"
I visited this place with the boss. The building's pretty old. They didn't have much for group activities, just a few folks dozing off in their wheelchairs in front of the TV. Some residents were even sleeping in the hallway chairs. Downstairs bathroom had water on the floor, super slippery. It needed a good cleaning. Staff seemed nice. The people I chatted with seemed more resigned than happy.

"Mixed Experience, Spacious Room"
Our loved one moved in just before COVID, so we haven’t visited since. The meal was okay, and the room is spacious.

"Nice Community with Friendly Staff but Needs Weekend Improvements"
The community is nice for your loved one. The director is very helpful and even gives out her cell phone number. Everyone is friendly and takes care of the residents' needs. My loved one thought the food was good. After hours, there was no one at the front desk. I think someone should always be there to open doors. On the weekends, there were a lot of part-time staff who didn't know all the residents' information. I think the weekend staff could be better organized. Overall, if I had to choose another place for a loved one, I would pick this community.

"Caring Community with Limitations"
I believe it’s a nice spot for active seniors. They maintain cleanliness well, and most staff are friendly. However, my brother required more care than they could offer.

"Assisted Living Facility Review"
The place is getting fixed up now. It looks nice and clean. They have lots of things for people to do. The workers know a lot and are kind. But it costs too much for us.

"Unsafe and Unclean Conditions Dominate Independence Court"
Independence Court is disappointingly dirty, seriously ignoring our geriatric friends. Residents are left in wet clothes for too long. The team of caregivers to seniors doesn't meet expectations. It's not rare to see waste on chairs or handrails. The cleaning crew appears to be slack. There's proof of creepy crawlers in some rooms, even bed bugs. The property is being fixed up without needed safety measures. This raises the stakes for accidents. Residents are left open to electric cables, loose nails, and other repair risks. This spot seems to favor profit over safety, consistently dismissing injury claims.

"Affordable Assisted Living with Good Amenities"
When we searched for a place for our loved one, we cared about cost, care, transportation, and a friendly atmosphere. Independent Court Hyattsville met those needs well. It's affordable, handles medical care, and has good food and activities. Metro Access is available, and it's close to a dialysis center. Housekeeping could be better, but overall, it's a good choice for us.

"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living, but Caring Staff"
The staff at the assisted living facility were nice and kind to the residents. Even though the money we pay each month is more than we expected, I feel good knowing that my family member is looked after.
